Chapter 1: My Terminally III Sister Stole My Wedding
They say marriage is the grave of love; being buried in it is way better than being left to rot in the wilderness.
After more than two months of hard work, I finally finished sewing my wedding dress with my own hands.
In the light, it gleamed white and elegant, radiating beauty.
I imagined myself walking towards my beloved man in the wedding dress in just a few days and couldn’t help but smile in my dreams.
From the age of nineteen to twenty–five, for six years, my love was finally about to be “buried.”
But unexpectedly, when I woke up, all that beauty came to a sudden end, turning into a
mirage.
“Miss.Garcia, Mr.Lewis came to the design

studio this morning and took the wedding dress. Did he take it home?” my assistant,
Miss.Parker, called, questioning me with confusion.
I had just woken up, my mind still in a fog. I replied in disbelief, “Ryan took my wedding dress?”
“Yes, didn’t you know?”
“Hmm, I’ll ask him.”
After hanging up, my thoughts became a bit clearer, but I still couldn’t understand why Ryan Lewis would take the wedding dress so early in the morning.
My home was filled with wedding supplies- there was no room for the dress. I intended to
get it back the day before the wedding.
When I called, nobody picked up. Just as I was about to call again, Ryan Lewis called me back.
“Ryan, did you take the wedding dress?” I got straight to the point.

“Yes,” he admitted, his voice weary and hoarse.
I frowned with concern and asked, “What’s wrong? Are you sick?”
Ryan Lewis paused and, in a calm and indifferent tone, said, “Flora, let’s cancel our wedding,”
My ears buzzed, and my mind went blank. “Why?”
“Sophia has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The doctor said she has at most three
months to live.”
My shock intensified. For a brief moment, I felt as if God had finally rewarded me, finally ready to take this hateful woman away.
“What does that have to do with our wedding?”
“Sophia’s last wish is to marry me, so she can die without regrets.” After saying this, Ryan Lewis immediately added before I could respond, “I know this request might be a bit much, but she’s about to die–can you show her some compassion?”

I gaped in disbelief, feeling I had just heard the most absurd joke in the world. After a while, I couldn’t help but ask incredulously, “Ryan Lewis, do you even know what you’re saying?”
Ryan Lewis’s tone was firm: “I’m very clear.
Flora, I want to marry Sophia to fulfill her last wish. I know this isn’t fair to you, but as compensation, I’m willing to transfer 50% of the company’s shares to you. Please think about it.”
I felt numb all over and stiffly asked, “What if I don’t agree?”
Ryan Lewis was visibly impatient: “Flora, can you please be a bit kinder? Sophia is your sister; she’s dying! It’s such a small wish, and you can’t even fulfill it?”
What kind of logic was this? I couldn’t help but
mock, “Since you love her so much, are you planning to commit suicide and die with her when she’s gone?”
“You-” Ryan Lewis was momentarily
speechless. After a brief silence, he changed his
tone, “Anyway, I took the wedding dress to the

hospital. Sophia Garcia has a similar figure as yours; it will be perfect for her.”
Before he could finish, a familiar voice came through in the background: “Ryan, Sophia is awake!”
“Okay, I’ll be right there,” Ryan Lewis said, clearly anxious. “Flora, I hope you can give me a reply soon.”
Before I could respond, he hung up.
The voice that called him was obviously from my dad’s current wife, Lila Garcia–my stepmother and Sophia Garcia’s mother.
When had they become such a loving family? I was completely unaware.
I sat on the bed, holding my phone, filled with
resentment.
How ironic!
Years ago, Lila Garcia had taken my mother’s husband, and now her daughter, Sophia Garcia, was trying to take my fiancé.

Like mother, like daughter, indeed.
More than a decade ago, my parents divorced, and within three months, my dad brought Lila Garcia home, proudly showing her off. Lila Garcia had a son and a daughter–fraternal twins–who were two years younger than me.
Later, I learned by chance that they were my dad’s biological children, my half–siblings.
In other words, my dad had betrayed my mom long ago, starting another family outside- he even had children who were just two years younger than me!
When my mom found out, she was furious and
wanted to sue my dad again to divide their
assets.
She wanted to secure my rights and prevent all the family wealth from falling into the hands of
that woman.
But my dad was ruthless; not only did he refuse my mom’s demands, but he also maliciously took control of most of my grandparents‘

My grandfather was so angry that he fell seriously ill, teetering on the edge of death.
Yet the family couldn’t even afford to pay for his
medical treatment.
My mom sold the family heirloom, piecing together whatever she could to save my grandfather, but ultimately, she couldn’t keep
him alive.
My mother was crushed with guilt, feeling that she had caused my grandfather’s death, which led her to spiral into severe depression and
later to be diagnosed with breast cancer. She
soon passed away, too.
She died because of my dad’s cruelty.
The successive deaths of my grandfather and mother were devastating blows to me and my
grandmother.
As a child, I had secretly vowed from that
moment on: I would reclaim everything that belonged to my mother and me, and I would do

In the past few years, I worked hard, and my career flourished. I was about to marry my childhood sweetheart, Ryan Lewis from the Lewis family.
I thought that with my beloved by my side, our combined strengths would lead to success. But little did I know that I would end up losing my fiancé to the daughter of a scheming woman right before the wedding!
When did Ryan Lewis and Sophia Garcia
become so close?
Was it when Sophia Garcia was the first to roll
up her sleeves and donate blood to Ryan Lewis?
Or was it when Sophia Garcia cooked for Ryan
Lewis for the first time?
Or did she declare in front of everyone at the
age of eighteen that the person she loved most
was Ryan, and if she couldn’t marry him, she
would rather die?
Although Ryan Lewis and I were already

publicly dating by that time, her bold proclamation still drew cheers from the crowd, and everyone praised her bravery.
But Ryan Lewis, if you’re going to marry her because of these instances, what does that make of everything I’ve done for you over the years?
You have a rare blood type, and I donated blood to you for five years until you fully
recovered.
You were weak, and I cooked and took care of you, becoming an expert at preparing herbal dishes.
During the years you were hospitalized, how many sleepless nights did I spend by your bedside, worrying endlessly?
Now, just because Sophia Garcia has a terminal illness, you betray me and heartlessly cancel the wedding we had meticulously prepared to be with her?
Tears welled up in my eyes but were quickly pushed back.

It wasn’t worth crying over such a scumbag. I had no reason to weep for myself, either.
The humiliation and abuse I suffered in the Garcia family over the years made me realize that tears were useless; they only brought more laughter from others.
To fight back–that was the truth!
I picked up my phone and called the scumbag back: “Ryan Lewis, you’ll give me everything from the company, and I’ll surrender the bride position. If you agree, come back tonight, and we’ll sign the agreement.”
