Chapter 16: He Didn’t Agree to
Divorce
He paused, turned to me, and humorously reminded me of our situation.
I felt a bit awkward as I glanced up at him. “You’re my customer, who should be served as
God.”
“But I still prefer to be seen as a human.”
His witty response made me chuckle, and my demeanor relaxed considerably. “Okay, I’ll
remember that.”
“Thank you for your help today, Miss.Garcia. Goodbye.” Sebastian Cole had impeccable
manners; every word he spoke was pleasing to
the ears.
After bidding me farewell, he didn’t forget to remind the driver, “Mr.Winterton, please drive carefully and ensure Miss.Garcia gets home. safely.”

Sebastian Cole nodded at me with a smile before turning to get into the Audi A8, where the door had already been opened for him.
I was somewhat surprised.
For someone so powerful and with such a distinguished status, why was his vehicle merely an Audi A8?
No wonder the outside world claimed that the Cole family was low–key, discreet, and
mysterious.
On the way down the mountain, Sebastian Cole’s car always remained ahead of us.
Miss.Parker looked out the car window, admiring the scenery of Thunderfang Peak.
My thoughts were a bit scattered, and I found my eyes drifting toward the car in front of us, my right hand unconsciously tightening around something.
The sensation from the moment I had grabbed

him flashed through my mind, and I suddenly realized how odd it was to be recalling such a
thing as if I were some sort of rogue.
My cheeks inexplicably flushed, and I opened my right hand to rub my knee, before pushing away the distracting thoughts and looking out the window again.
The two cars maintained a distance of about fifty meters; occasionally, when the front car turned, it would briefly disappear from view, causing my heart to skip a beat.
But as soon as the Cadillac turned the corner,
that car would reappear, still moving steadily
and without haste.
The sun shone brightly, and the forest was lush.
Dappled shadows from the swaying trees were cast upon the gleaming black surface of the front car, the light dancing upon it, shifting smoothly, much like the aura around him- noble, reserved, and enviable.
In terms of price and quality, the Cadillac surely surpassed the Audi A8.

However, for some reason, thinking about the fact that Sebastian Cole was in the car made me feel that it was the most prestigious and unique vehicle in the world.
After we descended the mountain, the Audi A8 honked once and then quickly accelerated, disappearing from view.
I was a bit dazed for a moment before realizing that the honk was Sebastian Cole saying
goodbye.
My heart raced unexpectedly.
I couldn’t believe that someone from such
an illustrious background had cultivated a descendant with absolutely no airs about him.
On the contrary, he was extremely approachable and polite.
My admiration for the Cole family skyrocketed
several levels.
If it weren’t for my falling out with Ryan Lewis, I would have definitely called him to let him.

know that Sebastian Cole was not the kind of
person who used his status to bully others or relied on family fame like a spoiled rich kid.
After the trip to Thunderfang Peak, I returned with a pile of work.
I completely lost track of Ryan Lewis and Sophia Garcia’s mess and immersed myself in
overtime, working hard on design sketches.
It wasn’t until one morning when I woke up and spotted a reminder on my phone.
Divorce.
I froze, recalling that the time I had scheduled with Ryan Lewis to get a divorce was now upon
- us.
While washing up, I called Ryan Lewis.
To my surprise, the person who answered the phone was Sophia Garcia.
“Flora, what do you want with Ryan?” Sophia Garcia asked, her tone dripping with jealousy.

I frowned, feeling something was off.
“Don’t misunderstand, I’m looking for him to
finalize the divorce. Please make sure he’s at
the City Clerk’s Office at two this afternoon.”
“Divorce?” Sophia Garcia sounded shocked.
“Yes, you don’t really think that just because you stole my wedding, you’ve actually become his wife, do you? Legally, you’re his mistress.”
I expected Sophia Garcia to be at a loss for words after my retort, but to my surprise, she defiantly replied, “In the realm of love, only the one who is unloved is the mistress.”
“What?”
I was taken aback and, after a moment, let out a cold laugh. “Sophia, you’ve finally revealed your true colors.”
All these years, she had pretended to be
innocent, weak, and pitiful.
Even when I was scolded, beaten, or severely
punished, she would always plead on my

behalf, putting on an act of kindness.
But now, she was finally dropping the facade.
“What do you mean, my true colors? I’ve always been this way; you just can’t stand me,” Sophia Garcia retorted loudly.
“Forget it; I don’t want to argue with you. Just remember to tell Ryan not to stand me up at two this afternoon. Appointments are hard to
come by, and if he doesn’t show up, it will delay things by at least half a month.”
I was about to hang up after saying this, but Sophia Garcia called out to me again.
“Flora, has Ryan been looking for you these days?”
Her voice suddenly turned harsh,, filled with hostility.
I was taken aback and sensed their relationship was in trouble, feeling a bit gleeful. “He has contacted me; what’s it to you?”
“Flora, do you have no shame! He’s my

husband, and you’re seeing him behind my
back–what’s the difference between that and
being an affair partner?” Sophia Garcia erupted
in anger.
I couldn’t believe it; I countered her with her
own words. “Isn’t the affair partner you and him? What does it have to do with me? Is your brain rotting from cancer?”
“Flora, you’re cursing me. You’ll get no peace! I know you-”
Sophia Garcia kept ranting, but I couldn’t be bothered to respond. “If you want to stop being an affair partner, just have Ryan finalize the divorce with me, understand?”
After hanging up the phone, I felt a wave of bad
luck wash over me.
I had run into such a troublesome pest first
thing in the morning.
After washing up and having a quick breakfast, I drove to the company.
On the way, Ryan Lewis called me.

Seeing his name pop up made me feel irritated, but since we needed to discuss the divorce, I couldn’t ignore the call.
“Flora, did you try calling me this morning?” Ryan Lewis sounded gentle, as if we were back in the days when our relationship was still strong.
“Mm, see you at the City Clerk’s Office at two this afternoon.” I kept it brief, ready to hang up.
“Flora!” Ryan Lewis suddenly stopped me. “I’m very busy today; I won’t have time this
afternoon.”
Just as I had predicted, he didn’t want to go through with the divorce and was deliberately stalling.
“Ryan, we’ve loved each other; can’t we just part on good terms? With Sophia acting like that, shouldn’t you reassure her?”
Mentioning Sophia Garcia, Ryan Lewis asked, “When you called this morning, did you two have a fight?”

“Let me guess: did Sophia complain to you again? Are you planning to defend her?” I retorted sarcastically.
“No, I left my phone in the hospital room this morning and didn’t expect her to answer my call.”
“You’re a married couple; it’s normal for her to answer your call.”
Ryan Lewis suddenly fell silent.
I didn’t understand what was going on between him and Sophia Garcia; they were probably having issues, but I didn’t care and certainly
didn’t want to get involved.
“Please make sure you’re there at two.” With
that, I hung up decisively.
Despite my repeated emphasis, Ryan Lewis still stood me up.
I waited outside the City Clerk’s Office until
two–thirty, but he didn’t show up.

I called his phone, but there was no answer.
I was furious, thinking about how I was still carrying the title of “Mrs.Lewis,” which felt like a
tightening spell around Satan, making me even
more upset.
I decided to call Lila Garcia, hoping she could pressure Ryan Lewis to finalize the divorce
sooner.
But that call only ignited another powder keg.
“Flora, I didn’t seek you out for vengeance, and you dare call me? What are you playing at?
Sophia is weak, and I’m already doing my best
to take care of her; how dare you call her to
fight! I know you hate me, but if you’ve got the guts, come for me! I’ll tear your mouth apart!”
