Chapter 5: Flora, Please Be Our
Wedding Witness
I was both angry and amused. Turning my gaze to the bustling street, I waited a while for my mind to calm down before I faced him again and sneered, “Ryan Lewis, I’m not a dumping ground. No matter how much I once loved you or what I sacrificed, the moment you decided to
betray me, you forfeited the right to my love.”
I turned to leave, but couldn’t resist looking back to add, “Even if every other man on earth
died, I wouldn’t give you a second glance. You
make me sick.”
Perhaps my resolute attitude pierced Ryan Lewis’s heart a little, as he suddenly stepped forward to grab me and began to plead, “Flora, I love you. The six years we spent together are etched in my heart, unforgettable. But Sophia is dying, and she’s so miserable and pitiful. This little wish of hers before she dies-”
“Let go!”

“Smack!” Before he could finish that revolting statement, I raised my hand and slapped him. hard on the other side of his face.
Now he had matching handprints on both sides, making his handsome face look rather
ridiculous.
“Ryan Lewis, in light of all the blood I’ve drawn for you, just act like a decent human being and don’t come here to disgust me!” With that, I turned and walked away without looking back.
I didn’t inform any friends or family about the wedding cancellation; I only told my grandmother and my aunt.
My grandmother, nearly eighty, had suffered from the blows of my grandfather’s and
mother’s deaths. Over the years, her health had
been declining day by day.
I thought she would be unable to handle the
news and that it might ruin her health.
To my surprise, she was very understanding.

After a brief moment of sadness and anger, she comforted me, saying, “Recognizing this kind. of person early on is a good thing; otherwise, if you had gotten married and had children, it would only create greater turmoil and burden the children. You’re young, beautiful, and your career is flourishing. There’s no rush; we can
take our time to find someone. Even if you can’t
find someone stable and reliable, as long as you are happy, I will support you.”
My aunt said that although my grandmother’s eyesight was failing, her heart remained sharp and clear. She had already seen through the essence of men and marriage by the failure of my mother’s life.
With the comforting support of my
grandmother and aunt, I felt much better and quickly pulled myself together, returning to work at the company.
Now that I was the boss, I needed to work hard
and focus on my own future.
After the morning meeting, I had just returned to my office when my assistant, Miss. Parker,
knocked and entered.

“Miss.Garcia, Mr.Lewis is here.”
I was taken aback. Ryan Lewis came to the
company?
Before I could ask what he was doing there,
Ryan Lewis appeared in the doorway of my
office.
I waved my hand, signaling for Miss. Parker to get back to her work.
Ryan Lewis stepped inside but only stood at the door, explaining, “I’m picking up Sophia from the hospital. I just stopped by to grab my things.”
Although he hadn’t come to work every day, he had an office with some of his belongings
inside.
I ignored him completely, casually shifting my gaze back to my work.
Seeing I was ignoring him, Ryan Lewis grew bored and left, closing the door behind him.

Just a few seconds later, there was another knock on the office door.
I looked up to find that it was Sophia Garcia standing at the entrance.
What did she want?
I frowned and spoke coldly, “Ryan Lewis isn’t here; you should look for him in his office.”
Sophia Garcia stepped inside and closed the door, speaking softly, “Flora, I’m here to see you.”
I furrowed my brows, looking at her in
confusion.
After a moment, I suddenly realized what was
happening and sneered, “What else do you want me to give you?”
She had already taken my husband, my wedding dress, my jewelry, and even the entire wedding–wasn’t that enough for her?
Sophia Garcia slowly walked in, her small face devoid of color, looking as if she might faint at

I didn’t understand why she wasn’t lying in a
hospital bed, especially in such a state. Had she given up on treatment?
“Flora, I want you to be the witness at our wedding. Your identity is special; only you can bless us in front of the guests so they won’t talk behind our backs,” Sophia Garcia said, standing in front of my desk, her tone gentle but her words shocking.
I felt my mind explode!
“Sophia, you…” I was so furious that I couldn’t help but laugh coldly. I stood up to look at her, struggling to organize my words but unable to suppress the fury boiling within me.
“Do you even have any shame? Aren’t you afraid that all our relatives and friends will point at you and tear you apart at the wedding?” My voice dripped with sarcasm. If she weren’t swaying so dangerously, I would have slapped her hard, wishing it would make
her stick to the wall!

This was outrageous!
Sophia Garcia began to cry, her sobs punctuated with sniffles, “Sister, you’ve always been better than me at everything since we were children. I admire you and envy you, you’re so accomplished. Now that I have a terminal illness, I just want to marry Ryan and have a happy wedding. After I’m gone, he will still be yours; I can’t take him away from you.”
I could no longer tolerate this. I pointed at the door, “Get out! Leave now, or I swear I’ll slap
you!”
“Sister!” Sophia Garcia cried even harder as she walked around the desk to my side, grabbing my arm and pleading, “Please help me! I know I’ve taken so much from you in the past. I owe you an apology; I’m sorry. This is the last time I’m asking for your help!”
“Let go.” I couldn’t stand her touch and couldn’t listen to her outrageous words.
“Please, I’m begging you!”
“Let go!” Seeing she wouldn’t listen, I shook

my arm, trying to free myself, but suddenly felt a surge of anger and forcefully pulled my arm away from her grip.
“Ah!” Sophia Garcia screamed as she collapsed like a broken puppet. I instinctively reached out to catch her, but it was too late.
She fell hard.
Coincidentally, Ryan Lewis pushed the door open just in time to witness this scene!
“Sophia!” His expression changed, and he rushed over.
“Sophia, are you okay? Where does it hurt? Tell me!” He carefully picked her up, looking utterly frantic and helpless.
I stood there frozen, wanting to explain but feeling it pointless.
Ryan Lewis’s face told me that no amount of explanation would change his perception.
Indeed, after picking up Sophia Garcia, he looked at me with a serious, angry expression

and said, “Floral Don’t you know the current state of her health? And yet you laid hands on her! Are you even human? No matter how many wrongs she has done, she is still your sister!”
“Ryan, don’t scold Flora; she didn’t mean it,” Sophia García, weakly nestled in Ryan Lewis’s arms, defended me.
I couldn’t help but laugh coldly inside, my face expressionless as I calmly stated, “You two should get out of here quickly. I don’t want misfortune happening on my turf.”
Ryan Lewis’s pupils widened in shock, clearly not expecting me to say something so cruel
“Flora, you’re shocking me! I’m the one who owes you an apology, yet you’re mistreating an innocent, dying person. Don’t you fear retribution?”
I smiled and defiantly retorted, “The ungrateful one is you, the one who has made mistakes is you. If you’re not afraid of retribution, why should I be?”
Ryan Lewis was about to say more when Sophia

Garcia groaned painfully in his arms, “Ryan…”
He looked down, noticing the blood at the corner of her mouth, and grew even more anxious. “Sophia, hang in there! I’ll get you to the hospital right away; hold on!”
