Chapter 9: Everyone Is Forcing
Me to Donate Blood to Save
Sophia Garcia
Is someone about to die?
The effects of the sleeping pills left me in a hazy state as I opened the door to find Ryan Lewis
standing there. With a mix of schadenfreude, I asked, “Is Sophia dying?”
This did not sit well with him.
“Flora! Don’t be so vile!” Ryan Lewis snapped,
his expression dark—a look I had never seen
before.
Frowning tightly, I didn’t want to argue with him. I tried to push him out and close the door, but Ryan was quicker. He forcefully kicked the door open, grabbing my arm.
“What are you doing, Ryan? If you break in like this, I’ll call the cops!” I yelled, struggling against him, and in a fit of anger, I slapped him.

He ignored me, firmly pulling me out of the house and shoving me into his car.
“Ryan! What’s wrong with you? Let me out!”
“Sophia is in critical condition and on the brink of death. You have to come to the hospital with me!” he declared as he slammed on the gas, racing through the dark streets of the night.
I was baffled. “What does her life being at stake
have to do with me? I’m not a doctor!”
Ryan didn’t reply, his profile tense and serious
as he accelerated further.
A sense of dread washed over me; worried that his madness might put me in danger, I discreetly held onto the car door’s armrest.
When we arrived at the hospital, I learned that Sophia Garcia had suddenly vomited blood and was being treated urgently.
Her blood type was special. The blood bank didn’t have enough of her rare blood type, and
once again, I had been dragged in as a living blood bag to save her.

I was taken aback, feeling utterly absurd.
“Why do you think I would donate blood for her? Her life is precious, but I’m worth less than an ant?”
Ryan replied coldly, “If she doesn’t receive a transfusion in time, she will die. Just donate a little blood and take care of yourself afterward.”
After saying that, he looked at me and added a cruel remark: “Didn’t you donate blood to me for years without any issues?”
I was speechless.
Lila Garcia rushed over, urging, “What are you waiting for? Get the blood drawn! Sophia is still waiting in the emergency room!”
I glared at her, my expression icy. “What gives you the right to take my blood? Did I agree to this?”
Lila responded defiantly, “You’re the one who caused Sophia’s condition! You ruined her wedding and made her faint and vomit blood;

shouldn’t you save her?”

I shot back, “That wedding was mine to begin with! It was your daughter who stole it from me! Plus, you forced me to be the witness; I simply spoke the truth!”
Ryan began to gaslight me, “We’re all family; why do you have to keep score? If her blood type wasn’t so rare, I wouldn’t have put you in this position. You have the ability to help, yet you’re choosing to stand by and do nothing. It’s unreasonable.”
Mentioning blood types pushed me over the edge.
I looked at them, coldly smirking and questioning, “Other than me, there are two more people with rare blood types. Why is it just my blood you want?”
Besides me, Ryan also had a rare blood type, which was why I could donate to him for treatment over the years. My scumbag father, Andrew Garcia, also had the same blood
type, and both Sophia and I had inherited it. However, Avery and Sophia were fraternal twins.

with different blood types.
But this was an unfortunate twist of fate for me.
My exceedingly rare blood put my life at a much. higher risk compared to others.
Seeing that I was proving difficult to manipulate and resistant to their pressure, Lila Garcia grew even more anxious, shouting louder, “Your dad has health issues–high blood pressure and heart disease. How can he donate blood? Ryan himself has been through illness; he surely can’t donate!”
I felt a chill wash over me, as if a frost had
settled in the air around me. I didn’t see human beings standing in front of me but rather
leeches.
Each of them clung to me, desperately trying to suck my blood dry.
“So it seems tonight, I must donate my blood.”
“Absolutely!” Lila replied impulsively in a moment of panic, “Sophia is your half–sister. If you let her die without helping, you’ll be

punished by God.

Ryan Lewis looked startled, turning to Lila
Garcia to ask, “Half–sister?”
Lila Garcia froze, realizing she’d revealed a
secret she shouldn’t have. She tried to cover it
up, but it was too late.
I looked at Ryan Lewis and saw no point in hiding it anymore. With a sneer, I said, “You’re just figuring that out now? Sophia is my half–sibling–same father, different mother.”
Ryan Lewis grew even more shocked. “Half–sibling? But they’re only two years younger than you.”
“Yeah,” I scoffed. “My scumbag of a father was
cheating when I was just one year old—maybe
even earlier. He forced my mom to divorce him
just so he could bring his mistress and her kids
into our home.”
Ryan Lewis‘ gaze darted between Andrew Garcia and Lila Garcia, stunned.
“You never told me this,” he murmured, his

expression conflicted, as if realizing he’d made
some terrible mistake.
“Why would I air my family’s dirty laundry? Weren’t you always the smart one? How did you never figure it out?” I shot back.
With such a rare blood type, and Sophia matching mine–anyone with half a brain would’ve suspected something.
When Ryan Lewis stayed silent, I pressed on: “Now you finally understand why I refused to save Sophia, right?”
I thought the truth would make him see how Sophia had manipulated him–how terribly he’d wronged me.
But instead, he quickly twisted the logic in her favor. “Sophia didn’t do anything wrong. She’s innocent in this,” he said, staring at me.
“What?” I was so furious I could barely speak, my thoughts scattering. “From the moment. she entered the Garcia Manor, she fought me for everything. I had to give in to her and her brother at every turn–let them bully me. And

now she’s stolen my fiancé, my wedding, even the wedding dress I made with my own hands-
and she’s still ‘innocent‘?”
Ryan Lewis grew impatient. “Those are separate issues. Conflating them is pointless.”
I stared at him, realizing his handsome face had become uglier than a demon’s.
I had nothing left to say. I turned to leave.
Ryan Lewis grabbed my arm.
“Let go.”
He looked up with that same pitiful, melancholic expression he always used when we fought–the one that used to make me cave
immediately.
Today, he was trying the same old trick.
“Flora, fine, I was wrong, I messed up. You’ve always been the kindest, the most forgiving. Sophia’s life is hanging by a thread–please, save her. Didn’t Mom just say she’s your half–sister?”

“Mom“? He called Lila Garcia “Mom” so easily.
Looking at his pleading face, a thought suddenly occurred to me. I changed my
tone: “Fine, I’ll save her… if you can meet my
conditions.”
Ryan Lewis immediately asked, “What do you want? We’ll agree to anything.”
I turned to Andrew Garcia. “You’ll sign over
the remaining shares that should’ve been my
mother’s–tonight. Get a lawyer here now.”
Andrew Garcia bristled. “After the scene you
caused at the wedding, humiliating me in front of everyone, you still have the nerve to demand company shares?”
I turned to leave.
Lila Garcia snapped, “Fine! Your dead mother’s shares are yours!”
Andrew Garcia hesitated, but Lila Garcia shouted, “Is our daughter’s life worth less than
some shares? If she doesn’t make it, I’ll never

forgive you!”
Andrew Garcia shut up.

Then I looked at Ryan Lewis and made an
outrageous demand: “Donating blood risks my health. Compensation seems fair, no?”
He nodded. “Name your price.”
“A million dollarsper 100cc.”
“You greedy-!” Lila Garcia started to curse, but Ryan Lewis agreed without hesitation. “Deal.”
How devoted he was to Sophia.
We drafted the agreement on the spot, signed it, and pressed our thumbprints. At dawn, they’d fulfill their promises.
Watching them, I saw relief wash over their faces–even a knowing glance, as if they’d just
found their sucker.
Lila Garcia hurriedly called a nurse to take me
for the blood draw.

As the nurse approached, I smiled and asked,
“Isn’t it true that one can’t donate blood after
taking sleeping pills?”
