- HEAT AND MATE
Farrell
The moment we welcomed the Lycan warriors sent by King Maxwell, Raymond and I left the borders of our Pack. Their arrival brought some comfort. For the first time in weeks, I believed my people would sleep safely tonight.
But even with that peace, my heart still felt heavy.
I couldn’t shake the strange feeling gnawing at my chest. Was it because of what Sandra said? Or… was it something deeper?
I kept asking myself the same questions again and again.
Could Sandra be right? Was Delilah hiding something?
If she was truly a fake, as Sandra claimed, why does every part of me still crave her so much? Why does my heart still beat for her?
It wasn’t just longing. It was something fierce, burning through my chest, day and night. I missed her…her smile, her voice, her touch. Every second without her felt like I was missing a piece of myself.
I needed to bring her back.
Fake or not, she was still my wife. Legally. Spiritually. Emotionally.
She hadn’t divorced me. And I would never divorce her. I was sure she knew that.
A smile tugged at my lips as I looked out the car window. The idea that no man could have her while she still belonged to me… it gave me a strange, selfish comfort. She was mine.
Even now, she couldn’t spread those beautiful legs for anyone else. Not as long as I was her husband.
I shook my head slightly, amused by my own thoughts. Still, something didn’t sit right. Something felt… unfinished. Unsettled.
“You sure you’re okay?” Raymond’s voice cut through my thoughts.
My brother, and my Pack Beta, watched me from the driver’s seat with narrowed eyes.
1 gave a small chuckle. “Yeah, just thinking,” I started to say, but then something powerful hit my nose.
A scent.
Sweet. Wild. Overpowering.
Raymond’s eyes widened. He recognized it too. Without a word, he turned off the engine and jumped out of the car.
I followed instantly, my wolf clawing beneath my skin. We raced into the forest, our bodies moving on instinct.
Then we heard it.
A scream.
A young woman’s scream.
My muscles tightened as we pushed through the trees. The sight that met us made my blood boil.
Four wolves surrounded a young girl, while a crying mother begged them to stop. Raymond had already tackled one attacker. The rest were growling, ready to fight.

I stepped forward without hesitation. As soon as they saw me, they froze.
They knew who I was.
Slowly, they lowered their heads in submission and backed away.
“Alpha, please help my daughter,” the woman cried. “She’s in her first heat. They were going to tear her apart.”
My growl was low and commanding. “Put her down.”
The wolves obeyed, although reluctantly, and disappeared into the woods.
Then I saw the girl.
She was lying on the ground, her eyes wide and hazy with heat. Her legs were open. Her fingers were already moving between them, trying to ease the burning inside her.
“Help me,” she whimpered. “Please… I need someone inside me.”
I clenched my jaw.
“Alpha, I know this is shameful,” her mother sobbed. “But I beg you. Please help her. She’s in so much pain.‘ Her scent was flooding my senses. My wolf roared inside me. I was already hard, aching. Raymond beside me looked just as tense. We were both fighting our instincts.
But I stepped forward, took the girl into my arms, and followed her mother to their house.
She opened a door to a simple bedroom, and I laid the girl gently on the bed. She clung to me like her life depended on it.
The moment I placed her down, she tore off what little clothing she had left. She was now fully naked, trembling with need.
Raymond growled.
I turned to him sharply, giving him a warning look. He backed away, but didn’t leave.
“Please…” the girl cried again. “Please help me.”
My hands trembled.
I could help her. I wanted to. My body screamed for it. But my mind…my heart…was elsewhere.
I closed my eyes, and all I saw was Delilah.
Only she could calm the storm inside me.
Then Raymond spoke, and his voice shook the air.
“She’s my mate.”
My eyes flew open.
“What?” I asked, not sure I heard him right.
“She’s my mate,” he growled again, his voice full of power and pain. “And only I will have her.”
I took a step back.
The room went silent,

If she was truly his mate… then everything was clear.
I didn’t belong here.
Without another word, I turned and left. I didn’t look at the girl’s mother. I didn’t say anything to Raymond. I just walked out into the night, my head pounding and my chest aching.
I didn’t want just anyone.
I didn’t need release.
I needed Delilah.
Only she could quench this fire.
Only she could calm the beast inside me.
And I would get her back.
No matter what it takes.
