“Your Majesty, you haven’t said a word in over thirty minutes since you arrived. Is something wrong?”
Alpha Farrell’s voice broke through my thoughts for what felt like the hundredth time. Still, I had nothing to say. The truth was, I did have a problem. A big one. The Moon Goddess had cursed me with a mate…a woman who was also bonded to another man.
If I merely liked Delilah before, now I loved her with every fiber of my being. And if I loved her before, I was completely and utterly lost,in her now. Her charm was my undoing. She was supposed to be mine and mine alone, yet here I was, forced to share the one woman meant for me
I left the palace today with only one intention: to meet the man fate had cruelly chosen to share my mate. A part of me wanted to reveal to him that the woman he called his Luna was a fake, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Call me selfish… I didn’t care. The moment he knew the truth, he would fight for Delilah. And I couldn’t bear the thought of losing her.
“I’m sorry, Your Majesty, but I’m starting to think…”
“I came here to talk about Delilah,” I interrupted sharply.
“Delilah? What’s happened to her?” Farrell shot up from his seat, his concern immediate and raw. I hated how much he cared for her. She was mine.
“She’s fine. Relax,” I said, watching as the tension left his shoulders and he slowly sat back down.
“For a second there, I thought…” He exhaled heavily. “Never mind. If she’s fine, then I’m fine.”
His words struck a chord, a dull ache forming in my chest. I clenched my fists.
“I need you to finalize the divorce papers quickly. My mate and I are planning to get married as soon as possible. The sooner you let go, the sooner I can move forward with her.”
Farrell’s jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing as he processed my words. “With all due respect, Your Majesty,” he said through gritted teeth, “may I remind you that she isn’t just my wife, she’s my mate, too. I’ve held back out of respect for her feelings, but you, of all people, should understand what that means to me.”
His words were like daggers. I wanted to rip him apart for even suggesting that he had any claim to her, My Lycan instincts roared for dominance, but I had been warned to tread carefully. Violence wouldn’t solve this. Not yet.
“You already have a mate,” I growled, my voice cold and firm.
“And that’s the mystery, isn’t it?” he shot back. “Until I find answers, I can’t just let her go. You know as well as I do that a man only gets one mate in his lifetime. But for a woman? The Moon Goddess can bless her with more than one. I need to understand why. You, of all people, should get that.”
As much as I hated to admit it, he was right. But how could a Lycan king share his mate with a werewolf? It defied everything 1 knew about our kind.
“How can I…a Lacan king…share my Lycan mate with you, a werewolf? Tell me, Farrell, how does that even make sense?”
“Delilah’s a Lycan?” he asked, his confusion evident.
“Yes,” I confirmed. “And 1 claimed her three days ago. My mark is on her now. But the fact that she’s still your mate disturbs my peace. Now that you understand, finalize the divorce and let’s end this madness.”

Farrell shook his head, his face a mixture of defiance and pain. “Do you really think divorce will solve this? She was meant to be my Luna, my partner. I’ve craved her every day, every night, yet I’ve kept my distance out of respect. But this isn’t easy for me, either. I intend to find answers and resolve this. Once the confusion is settled, we can both move on in peace.”
I stood abruptly, ready to leave. My thoughts drifted to Delilah, and unease began to creep into my chest. I could feel her emotions through our bond…fear, anxiety. Something was wrong.
“Delilah, what’s going on?” I reached out through the mind–link, my heart pounding.
“Maxwell…” Her voice trembled. “I think I’m in trouble. I’m outside my nanny’s house…”
Her words were cut off, but it was enough. My blood ran cold. She had gone out? After I explicitly told her not to?
“Shit,” I cursed under my breath.
Farrell stood, his eyes filled with concern. “What’s wrong, Your Majesty?”
“It’s Delilah. I have to go,” I said, already heading for the door.
Everyone I passed on my way out greeted me, but I didn’t respond. My focus was on getting to Delilah.
By the time I arrived, the sight before me sent shockwaves through my entire being. My heart stopped. This couldn’t be happening.
