Delilah
I was caught off guard. I wasn’t expecting him to make this move. The moment Farrell’s lips touched mine, I felt a spark, an electric jolt that coursed through my veins and left me breathless. His lips were warm and firm, igniting something deep inside me. I almost totally surrendered to him.
The way his hands moved over my body sent waves of sensation rippling through me, awakening a hunger I thought had long been buried for him. I craved more of his touch, more of this moment that felt so forbidden yet so not familiar. When I opened my mouth, welcoming his tongue, the kiss deepened. Our tongues tangled in a passionate dance, and for a moment, I was lost…lost in him in the memory of what we once had. Yet, was different.
But then, everything changed.
Suddenly, I was no longer in the room. I found myself standing in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by seven women. Their faces were indistinct, yet there was something ethereal about them, their glowing forms shimmering like stars. A glittering cloud hovered around us, casting the entire scene in an otherworldly light. Confusion gripped me as I spun around, trying to make sense of what I was seeing.
A soft, calm voice broke through the haze.
“Delilah.”
Farrell’s voice pulled me back to reality. My eyes flew open, and I found myself in his arms, his gaze filled with concern. My heart raced as I looked around, disoriented. Then my eyes landed on Maxwell, who stood a few feet away, his face a mixture of fear and confusion.
I untangled myself from Farrell’s embrace, stepping away from him as though his touch burned me. Instinctively, I moved to Maxwell, clinging to him. His arms wrapped around me protectively, grounding me in a way Farrell never could. Yet, despite the safety I felt with Maxwell, the memory of Farrell’s kiss lingered, haunting me.
I hated myself for feeling this way.
Yes, I had loved Farrell once. Perhaps, in some twisted way, I still did. But how could I forgive him after what he did to me? How could I reconcile the betrayal, the pain he’d caused when he chose Sandra over me?
“Delilah,” Maxwell’s deep voice brought me back to the present. “What happened to you?”
“I…” I hesitated, my voice trembling. “I don’t know. Farrell kissed me, and then… I wasn’t here anymore. It was like I was transported to another realm entirely. His voice brought me back.”
Maxwell’s jaw tightened, his anger barely restrained. He was trying to stay calm, but I could see the storm brewing beneath the surface.
“What could this mean?” Farrell’s voice broke the tense silence.
Maxwell closed his eyes, his brow furrowing in thought. When he opened them again, his expression was grim. It means there are secrets about her origin, secrets we’ve yet to uncover.”
”
I stiffened. I knew what he was about to suggest, and the mere thought made my stomach churn. “No,” I said sharply, stepping out of Maxwell’s embrace. Folding my arms across my chest, I met his gaze head- on. “Don’t say it. I already know what you’re thinking, and the answer is no. We’ll find another way to uncover the truth about me, but we’re not involving him.” I gestured toward Farrell without looking at him.
Farrell’s frustration was evident. “What are you two hiding from me?” he snapped, his voice laced with irritation.

I scoffed, not bothering to answer him directly. Instead, I turned to Maxwell. “Fine. I’ll come to Farrell’s pack the day after tomorrow. But only to get the answers we need, nothing more.‘
With that, I excused myself, walking out of the office before either of them passed, and I nodded absentmindedly, my mind racing.

The elevator ride to my room felt like an eternity. Once inside, I wasted no time shedding my training clothes and stepping into the shower. The warm but it did little to wash away the turmoil within.

I replayed the kiss in my mind, over and over again. Why did it feel so
different this time? I had been Farrell’s wife …his mate. I had loved him deeply, enough to overlook his flaws and bind myself to him. But never, not once in all our time together, had I felt what I felt today.
And then there was the vision. What did it mean? Seven women, a glittering cloud… Was it some kind of message from the goddess?
A chill ran down my spine as Maxwell’s earlier words echoed in my mind. He believed that to unlock the full extent of my powers, I would have to accept Farrell as my mate once more. But how could I? How could I let him back into my life after he shattered my trust and broke my heart?
The water turned cold, snapping me out of my thoughts. I turned off the shower and wrapped myself in a bathrobe, stepping into my room.
Maxwell was waiting for me.
He sat on the edge of the bed, his posture tense. The moment he saw me, he stood and crossed the room in a few quick strides. His arms encircled my waist, pulling me close as he inhaled my scent.
My fingers tangled in his hair, and a low groan escaped him I smiled faintly, savoring the moment. Then, just as quickly, he pulled away.
“Delilah,” he began, his voice heavy with emotion. “If it were up to me, I would never share you with anyone. But it’s not just about what I want, or what you want.”
His words hit me like a blow.
“For everyone’s sake…for yours, for mine, and for Farrell’s..you need to accept him as your mate. If you don’t, the consequences could be catastrophic.”
I staggered back, the weight of his words pressing down on me. How could I possibly reconcile with Farrell? The man who had betrayed me so thoroughly, who had taken my best friend as his lover?
“No,” I said, my voice trembling but firm. “There has to be another way.” Then, a thought struck me, a desperate, wild thought that felt like a lifeline.
“My nanny,” I blurted out. “She knows something. She’s been hiding something from me all these years. Send someone to bring her here. She has answers:”
Maxwell’s expression was unreadable, but I didn’t care. This was my only chance to uncover the truth without sacrificing myself to a bond I wasn’t ready to accept
