The kingdom was in chaos. The Shadow Claws Pack, the largest and most powerful pack in the region, was fighting for survival. Their Alpha and King, Maxwell, was lecked in a brutal internal battle, not with an enemy,
but with his own beast.
This was no ordinary struggle. It was a fight for dominance a fight that arose when the beast sensed betrayal. Such battles were rare, but when they occurred, they were catastrophic. The beast, if unleashed, could slaughter hundreds within minutes, leaving destruction in its wake. Yet, King Maxwell was determined to resist its fury. He refused to let his beast harm his people. His goal was clear to root out the traitors and protect his kingdom, even if it meant risking his own life.
Meanwhile, Beta Cross, the King’s most trusted, was doing everything in his power to carry out his Alpha’s orders. His mission was to ensure the safety of the pack and anyone within their territory. But the situation was far from simple.
A group of human investors, oblivious to the danger, were wandering through the kingdom, marveling at its beauty. They had no idea that the grand palace, the heart of the kingdom, was now a ticking time bomb. Danger loomed within its walls, and the unsuspecting humans were like prey wandering into a predator’s den.
Beta Cross knew he had to act quickly. If the humans discovered the truth, it could shatter the fragile peace the kingdom had worked so hard to maintain. Approaching them with a calm demeanor, he masked his anxiety and spoke with a steady voice. “Mr. Philip,” he began, addressing the leader of the group, “I’d like to take you to a neighboring pack. I understand you’re here for sightseeing and I know a place even more breathtaking than this.”
Philip, a middle–aged man with a cheerful disposition, smiled warmly. “Oh, yes, Mr. Cross! This city is truly magnificent. We thought exploring its beauty would be a wonderful experience.” He and his companions were completely unaware of the danger lurking just beyond their sight.
Beta Cross forced a smile, though his heart was racing. Sweat trickled down his temples as he struggled to maintain his composure. “If you come with me now, I can show you something even more spectacular,” he said, his voice steady despite the storm raging inside him.
The men agreed eagerly, and soon they were climbing into their SUVs, following Beta Cross’s car as it sped toward the highway. As the wheels rolled over the asphalt, Cross’s mind began to spiral. He had secured the pack’s people in a safe location, but the fear of what could still go wrong gnawed at him. The King’s struggle with his beast was unpredictable, and the presence of the humans added another layer of complexity to an already volatile situation.
His thoughts were interrupted by the urgent matter at hand. He needed to reach out to Alpha Farrell. When Cross finally got to him, his plea was met with resistance. “Alpha Farrell, this is a matter of life and death. I need her to come with me now,” Cross begged, his voice trembling with urgency.
Farrell, however, was unmoved. “Why are you people so selfish?” he snapped. “She still has a few more days with me. Let the King wait for his turn. I don’t mean to be rude, but I won’t be pushed around.”
Before the tension could escalate further, the door creaked open, and Delilah entered, carrying a tray of fresh fruit. Her presence was like a breath of fresh air, but she immediately sensed the tension in the room.
“Here, take some fruit, Beta Cross,” she said softly, her eyes darting between the two men. She noticed the way Farrell’s jaw clenched, a telltale sign of his anger, and she quickly pieced together the situation.
Cross accepted the grapes she offered, the sweet and tangy flavor momentarily calming his nerves. “Now you’re calm,” Delilah said, her voice gentle but firm, “can you tell me why you’re here?”
Cross hesitated, his eyes flickering toward Farrell, who was glaring at him with a mixture of defiance and

warning. But Delilah was no ordinary woman, “I hope you know I can read your minds,” she said sharply, her gaze piercing. Farrell’s shoulders slumped, his resistance crumbling under her scrutiny,
It’s the King,” Cross finally admitted. “Something’s wrong. He needs you, Delilah. You’re the only one who can save him now.”
Delilah’s expression shifted from curiosity to concern. “What happened to him?” she asked, her voice tinged with worry. “I knew something was off, but I couldn’t communicate with him. It was strange.”
Cross stood up, his urgency palpable. “A lot is happening. He’s fighting his beast, and it’s getting worse. You’re the only one who can reach him, Delilah. Please, we don’t have much time.”
Farrell’s fists clenched, his knuckles turning white as his nails dug into his palms. His jaw tightened, and his entire body seemed to vibrate with suppressed anger. But before he could say anything, Delilah spoke. “Beta Cross, wait for me outside. I’ll be with you soon.”
As Cross left the room, Delilah turned to Farrell. She approached him slowly, her small but powerful hands reaching up to cradle his face. “Please, my Alpha, my love, she whispered, her voice filled with tenderness. “I understand how you feel. But this is important. I’ll be back with you in no time, I promise.”
Farrell’s eyes softened as he looked at her, his anger melting away under her touch. “They always want to take you away from me,” he murmured, his voice heavy with frustration. “King Maxwell is selfish, and you’re letting him. It’s not fair, Delilah.”
She smiled, her heart aching for him. “I know. And I’m sorry,” she said, her voice steady. “But something is wrong with Maxwell, and I have to help him. I’ll come back to you. I promise.”
Their eyes locked, and for a moment, the world seemed to stand still. Then, Delilah pulled him closer, their lips meeting in a kiss that was both urgent and tender. It was a kiss filled with longing, with promises, and with the unspoken understanding that their bond was unbreakable. But it was brief, a fleeting moment of connection before she pulled away.
“I’ll be back,” she whispered, her voice firm despite the tears glistening in her eyes. And with that, she turned and walked out the door, leaving Farrell standing alone, his heart heavy but his resolve
