Chapter 45 Give Me Money
Hazel didn’t understand why, but she still did as instructed and fetched a black trash bag from the kitchen.
Camila took the bag and swiftly pulled it over Arthur’s head.
Belinda, Harry, and Agnes were all shocked and furious.
“Camila, how could you be so cruel?! Dad is already like this, and you’re trying to suffocate him with a garbage bag? Are you even human?” Agnes raised her hand, ready to slap Camila, but Camila blocked her effortlessly.
“If you don’t understand, then shut up.” Camila’s sharp voice silenced everyone in the room.
She swept a cold gaze over them and said, “The purpose of covering someone’s head with a plastic bag is to increase the concentration of carbon dioxide in the body.
When a patient hyperventilates, they exhale too much carbon dioxide, which lowers the CO2 levels in their body. This leads to a rise in blood pH, causing symptoms of respiratory alkalosis.
“By covering the nose and mouth with a plastic bag, the exhaled carbon dioxide is re–inhaled, reducing CO2 loss and helping to restore the body’s acid–base balance.”
“Agnes, weren’t you a top student at Peroz High School? Didn’t you rank in the top ten of your grade? How is it that you don‘ t even understand something as simple as acid–base balance?” Camila sneered, her voice dripping with disdain.
Agnes turned red with anger, but she bit her tongue and said nothing.
After a while, Arthur finally began to recover.
He tore the trash bag off his head and threw it on the floor in rage. He pushed himself up from the ground, ready to strike Camila.
Camila’s voice rang out, cool and detached, “I’d advise you to stay rational. If you have another episode, you might not be so lucky next time.”
Arthur seethed. “You… you ungrateful girl!”
Camila shot him an indifferent glance, scoffed, and turned to go upstairs.
Arthur bellowed, “If you’re so independent, don’t stay upstairs! Go back to your storage room!”
Standing on the staircase, Camila looked down at him and said, “I refused to stay here before because I didn’t want to owe you anything. But now, I am staying because your life is in my hands. To me, your life is worth nothing more than a room. Otherwise, I wouldn’t just take a room–I’d take the whole mansion, and you’d be the one kicked out.”
“You… you’re twisting the truth!” Arthur’s rage sent him into another fit.
Seeing this, Harry hurriedly grabbed the plastic bag from the floor and put it over Arthur’s head again.
Arthur kept inhaling and exhaling, making the bag collapse and expand repeatedly–it was an utterly ridiculous sight.
Camila smirked.
Now that she no longer cared, she could be as reckless as she wanted. Watching them suffer filled her with an unfamiliar sense of satisfaction.
Back in her bedroom, Camila lay down on the soft bed and let out a deep breath.
She had to admit–this bed was incredibly comfortable.
If she had never been stolen at birth, she would have woken up in such luxury every day for the past twenty years.
Closing her eyes, she savored the rare tranquility.
About ten minutes later, there was a knock on her door–three rhythmic taps. Just from the force and timing, she knew it had to be Hazel. After all, the Jackson family never knocked. They always barged in without an ounce of basic decency.
“Come in,” Camila said.
Sure enough, Hazel entered, carrying a steaming bowl of pasta.
Hazel said, “Miss Jackson, have some pasta.”
Camila sat up against the headboard and took the bowl from Hazel.
As always, the pasta was topped with vegetab’can 210 un sesame oil–the aroma was irresistible.
Successfully unlocked!
“You barely ate earlier, you must still be hungry,” Hazel said gently.
Camila’s eyes reddened. “Thank you.”
In the entire Jackson family, Hazel was the only one who truly cared for her.

She couldn’t understand how parents could be so ruthless to ther or child
Even if they hadn’t raised Camila, blood was still thicker than water how could they not love her
Not only did they not love her, but they also tormented her
Camila’s fate was truly miserable.
What Hazel didn’t mention was how utterly monstrous Arthur was.
Just the day before, in the hospital, when Carnila wouldn’t wake up, he had yanked her off the bed and thro ground, regardless of her injuries.
Her freshly stitched wound had split open, soaking her hospital gown in blood. She had to be rushed back into surgery another round of stitches.
Hazel couldn’t bring herself to say it. The truth was too cruel. She was afraid Camila wouldn’t be able to bear it.
“Maybe marrying into the Campbell family isn’t the worst option, Camila said with a faint smile, trying to reassure Hazel
“Miss Jackson, why must you do this? You’ve suffered so much in this family–they don’t deserve your sacrifice,” Hazal said, pained.
Camila remained silent.
Of course, she knew the Jackson family wasn’t worth it.
But Hazel and Lucy were.
She took a deep breath and said, “Wow, this pasta smells amazing. I better eat it before it gets soggy.”
With that, she began eating in big, eager bites.
Hazel sighed inwardly. Miss Jackson’s heart is too kind. Anyone else would have harbored nothing but hatred.
Camila finished every last bite, even drinking the soup.
Once Hazel left with the dishes, the smile on Camila’s face slowly faded.
She made a silent vow in her heart: Hazel, just wait a little longer. Once I marry into the Campbell family and get that three- million–dollar dowry, I’ll send you and Lucy abroad. You two are my weakness. Only when you’re out of the Jacksons‘ reach can I truly be free.
From that day on, Camila barely left her room.
She only came downstairs for meals and avoided any contact with the Jacksons as much as possible.
Everything was calm. Even Agnes, strangely, didn’t pick any fights with her.
Seven days passed in a blink.
That morning, after washing up, Camila opened her bedroom door, only to find Belinda standing outside, holding a shopping bag.
Her expression turned cold. “What do you want?”
These days, Camila had been treating Belinda with nothing but icy indifference. Every attempt Belinda made to get close to her was skillfully brushed off.
With a warm, motherly smile, Belinda held out the shopping bag like a treasure. “Camila, try this on. I specially pic this dress for you.”
Camila didn’t even look at it. “If you have something to say, say it. No need for fake kindness.*
Belinda’s smile froze. “Camila, must we keep fighting like this?”
“I just wanted to give you a dress, to fulfill my responsibility as a mother. Can’t you give me this one chance?”
Camila smirked mockingly. “Oh, now you remember to be responsible? If you really care, don’t bother with the dress–just give me money. With money, I can buy whatever I want, instead of being forced to accept what you think I should have.
