Chapter 53 Nursing The Body
“Lindsey.” Keira quickly intervened. I just checked the weather forecast: Sancho is expecting heavy rainfall over the next few days. If you go now, the roads will be slippery and unsafe. Besides, arriving drenched wouldn’t be appropriate for meeting your future granddaughter–in–law. This is a big occasion”
Hearing this, Lindsey nodded in agreement. “That’s true. I can’t let my granddaughter-in–law think I don’t take her seriously. Alright then, I’ll wait until the rain stops. Ohl Keira, check if we still have any nutritional supplements at home.
“If not, go and buy plenty. She’s too thin–definitely lacking in energy and blood. These things will help her regain her strength.
“The moment the rain stops, we’ll head over with everything. Her health will depend on your medicinal cooking. If we get her body in good shape this year, who knows? Maybe next year, we’ll have a chubby little grandson for the Campbell family!” Lindsey was so overjoyed that she clapped her hands together, bearning with excitement.
Keira was also delighted. Giovani was perfect in every way, except for his cold and distant nature.
The rumors about him outside were truly outrageous–painting him as a playboy obsessed with women. Some even claimed he was impotent, which had scared Lindsey into booking appointments with over ten urologists for him. Thankfully, Turner had stopped her just in time.
Tumer had reassured her “Mr. Campbell is very much in demand. You can rest easy–there’s nothing wrong with him.” But Lindsey had been skeptical. “If he keeps going like this, he really will be single for life. A normal man his age would already have kids running around. If there’s nothing wrong with him, why hasn’t he touched a woman? Turner, tell me the truth–does Glovani like men?”
Turner had shuddered at the thought and quickly made his escape, realizing there was no reasoning with her.
Keira glanced at Lindsey, who was now sitting on the sofa, shaking her head with amusement. Having an elder in the family was truly a blessing. Now that Lindsey believed Giovani had a girlfriend, she could finally be at ease.
After an entire night had passed, Belinda finally remembered Camila,
The image of Camila, blood streaming from the back of her head as she collapsed, resurfaced in her mind, making her heart ache with an unbearable pain.
“Why is Camila so stubborn? Agnes has such a good personality–why can’t she just accept her?”
“She must still resent Agnes for taking her rightful place as the Jackson family’s daughter. This child is impossible to deal with.”
Sighing deeply, Belinda made her way downstairs.
The blood–stained carpet from last night had already been removed by the servants. The entire living room was spotless, as if nothing had ever happened.
Belinda walked straight to the storage room, hesitating before gently knocking on the door.
She waited for a long time–no response.
“Camila, are you awake?” Still no answer.
She pushed the door slightly, realizing it wasn’t locked. With a soft creak, the door opened–but the room was empty.
Her heart sank. She didn’t hesitate anymore, gathering up her skirt as she hurried upstairs, rushing toward the princess- themed bedroom she had specially prepared for Camilla.
Everything inside was neatly arranged, the bed undisturbed, untouched.
Panic gripped her. Regret washed over her like a tidal wave. She regretted how she had acted toward Camila yesterday. regretted losing her temper, regretted not checking on her injury sooner.
Her mind was flooded with the image of Camila fainting–her face pale, blood soaking her hair. The thought of what might have happened to her daughter made her chest tighten painfully
Frantic, she called for a servant and asked urgently, “Where is Camila?”
The servant shook her head. “We haven’t seen her since this morning.”
Belinda felt her legs go weak. She leaned against the wall, drained of all strength.
At that moment, Harry emerged from his room, only to find Belinda looking utterly distraught.
“Mom, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” he asked, concerned.
Belinda looked up at him, eyes red–rimmed, voice trembling. “Camila is missing.”
Harry stiffened. “How could she be missing? She was just here yesterday.”

Belinda slid down against the wall, sobbing uncontrollably. Tears streamed down her face as she covered it with her hands. “It’s my fault–I pushed her away! If something happens to her, how will I live with myself?”
A memory suddenly struck Harry–Hazel’s desperate phone call from the previous night. His expression darkened as he pulled out his phone and dialed Hazel’s number. But
Call didn’t go through–he had been blocked.
His face grew even more grim. “Mom, try calling Hazel.”
With shaking hands, Belinda dialed Hazel’s number, only to receive the same result–she had been blocked too.
Harry steadied himself and said, “Mom, we need to check the security footage,”
Both of them rushed to the monitoring room. As the footage played, their expressions shifted from confusion to horror
On the screen, Camila could be seen staggering out of the house, her body covered in blood. Sixty year–old Hazel was carrying her on her back, walking slowly through the heavy rain.
Belinda clapped a hand over her mouth, tears spilling uncontrollably “Camila… My Carnila…
Harry stared at the screen, his heart tightening as if being slashed with a blade.
“Hazel must have taken her to the hospital. We need to go find her now.”
The car sped through the rain–drenched streets, windshield wipers working frantically but barely clearing the downpour. Belinda sat in the passenger seat, staring blankly out the window. Her hands were tightly clasped together, nails digging into her palms. She kept murmuring prayers for Camila’s safety.
Camila slowly regained consciousness, her head throbbing dully. A sharp pain pulsed from the back of her skull, but compared to the ache in her heart, it felt insignificant.
She stared blankly at the sterile white ceiling, memories of the previous night flashing before her eyes like a whirlwind. Above all, the image of Belinda coldly and ruthlessly smashing the ashtray against her head played on repeat in her mind, each replay cutting deeper into her heart.
Tears welled up uncontrollably, first one, then two, until they spilled freely, soaking her pillow.
She was Belinda’s biological daughter. So why, in the presence of Agnes, did her life seem so utterly worthless?
She had long grown accustomed to the Jackson family’s indifference. And yet… her heart still ached unbearably.
Taking a deep breath, Camila forced back the sorrow and wiped her tears away.
“There’s nothing to cry about,” she told herself. “They’re just irrelevant people. They don’t deserve my tears.” Just as she composed herself, the door to her hospital room swung open.
She thought it was Hazel, but when she turned, she was met with Belinda’s tear–streaked face
Seeing Camila awake, Belinda’s sobs grew even more intense. “Camila, are you trying to scare me to death?”
“Why did you leave in the middle of the night? The rain was so heavy, the night was so cold–do you have any idea how worried I was? If something had happened to you, how would I have survived?”
Belinda rushed forward, trying to embrace Camila’s frail body. But before she could touch her, Camila shoved her away with all her strength.
