Camila was shoved aside by William, staggering a few steps before she managed to steady herself.
Emily, seeing this, was filled with anxiety. Her fingers clenched tightly around the blanket as she desperately wanted to tell William the truth–to expose Agnes‘ evil deeds and defend Camila
But it was as if something was stuck in her throat. No matter how much she wanted to speak, all her words turned into painful sobs that couldn’t form a single coherent syllable.
Her gaze shifted between Camila and William, her heart twisting in agony.
Camila had done nothing wrong, yet she had been falsely accused and imprisoned for five years, while the true culprit walked free, nearly choking her to death,
Camila had already suffered enough, yet she was still being misunderstood by William.
Five years ago, William had adored Camila. But now, he treated her like an enemy.
Emily wanted to scream, to break through whatever was blocking her voice, but her body refused to cooperate.
The more anxious she became, the more violently her tears fell.
Seeing her like this, William’s heart ached unbearably. He needed an outlet to vent his frustration, and once again, he directed his anger at Camila.
“Camila, what have you done to Emily this time?! Why can’t she speak?”
Camila wanted to know the answer to that too.
Emily had finally woken up–something she had longed for. This was supposed to be her moment of vindication. But Emily just kept crying, unable to say a word.
“Emily, speak! Tell them it wasn’t me who pushed you down the stairs all those years ago! Tell them it wasn’t me who tried to strangle you today! Tell them the truth–that it was Agnes! Say it, Emily, say something!”
“Enough!” William’s gaze bore into Camila. He wanted to hate her, but his heart refused to let go of his lingering affection Tern between love and resentment, he clenched his jaw and said, “Emily is terrified of you. How long are you going to keep pretending?”
Emily sobbed even harder. William, you idiot! Stop yelling at Camilal Stop hurting her! One day, you’re going to regret this!
She had so much to say, but the moment she tried to speak, nothing came out.
The hospital room was in utter chaos.
Camila took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay calm
She turned to the doctor. “Doctor, why can’t Emily talk?”
The doctor examined Emily once again. Apart from her physical deterioration from years of being in a coma, there were no other serious issues. He reassured them, “The patient has been in a vegetative state for five years.
“Her body, including her speech functions, has weakened significantly. It’s normal for her to be unable to speak right away. With proper rehabilitation, she will regain her ability to talk.”
So that was the reason,
William and the others finally let out a breath of relief,
But Camila felt like she had been struck by lightning
She could wait. But Agnes wouldn’t. Before Emily fully recovered, Agnes would undoubtedly try everything to kill her.
If anything happened to Emily before she regained her speech, Camila would once again become the prime suspect.
No matter what, the truth had to come out today.
Camilla turned to look at Agnes–just as she expected. Agnes looked visibly relieved. But her lowered eyes flickered with frantic calculation, clearly scheming her next move.
Camila clenched her teeth. Agnes, today, I will make sure you are utterly ruined
Her mind raced, and within seconds, she came up with a plan.

Before he could decide whether to trust her, Harry stepped forward and grabbed Camila’s arm. “Camila, stop making a

Owen also approached, sighing. “Camila, after everything that’s happened, you should have learned your lesson. Apologize to Emily and Agnes, and we can put this matter to rest.”
Camila’s eyes turned ice–cold. These two men were what she despised most right now.
One was a CEO, the other a lawyer–both highly educated, supposedly intelligent men. But the moment it came to Agnes. they became absolute fools.
“You two act as if you’re being fair, but in reality, all you’re doing is protecting Agnes. What’s wrong? Are you that afraid of me exposing her true, disgusting nature?”
“Camila!” Harry snapped, raising his voice. “Don’t push your luck”
But Camila’s voice was even louder. “Harry, shut up!”
Owen frowned, about to say something, but Camila whipped her head around and glared at him.
“You shut up too. You have no right to lecture me. And you have zero right to stop me. Don’t push me, or I’ll slap you both without hesitation.
Harry and Owen’s faces darkened in humiliation.
But they had seen what Camila was capable of. If they continued to argue, they would only embarrass themselves further.
Camila ignored them and shoved Agnes toward Emily.
The moment Emily saw Agnes, her already pale face turned completely ashen. Her entire body trembled, and the sheer hatred and terror in her eyes were so intense, they practically radiated into the air.
Anyone with a shred of intelligence could tell that Emily wanted nothing to do with Agnes–there was none of the warmth that should exist between best friends
William frowned. Emily’s reaction was… off.
“Emily, what’s wrong?” he asked, his voice laced with concern.
“What’s wrong?” Camila sneered. “She’s looking at her enemy.”
“Camila, stop slandering people! Harry scolded her again.
“We’ll see soon enough whether I’m slandering or not.” Camila’s tone was firm and unshakable.
She turned to Emily, her voice soft yet resolute. “Emily, I know you can’t talk yet, and I don’t need you to. I just need you to blink–once for yes, twice for no. If you understand me, blink once.”
The moment Camila finished speaking, Emily immediately blinked once–hard and deliberate.
Camila’s lips curled into a triumphant smirk. Agnes, today is your downfall
Agnes‘ heart pounded wildly Panic took hold of her, and she began to struggle.
“Camila, I feel sick! I need to see a doctor!” she pleaded.
Camila didn’t even look at her.
Hazel, seeing Agnes‘ attempts to escape, stepped in to restrain her.

Camila then asked Emily, her voice clear and unwavering. “Five years ago, at the Jacksons‘ celebration banquet, was who pushed you down the stairs?”
Emily’s guilt–ridden eyes locked onto Camila’s. Without the slightest hesitation, she blinked twice.
William stood frozen in place, as if struck by lightning
‘It wasn’t her? It really wasn’t Camila?”
For five years, he had been convinced that Camila was guilty. He had hated her with all his being, even using every means at his disposal to ensure she suffered in prison.
But now, Emily’s response was like a sledgehammer, shattering the foundation of everything he had believed.
His hands clenched into fists. If Camila was innocent… then what the hell had I been doing for the past five years? What did all my revenge amount to?
