Chapter 67 Carla’s Desperade Le
Chapter 67 Camila’s Desperate Leap
Lindsey, Keira, and Hazel watched in horror as Camila climbed onto the window ledge, their eyes widening with panic..
Lindsey was the first to react, her voice trembling as she called out, “Sweetheart, come down! It’s dangerous up there.” Keira quickly joined in. “Camila, no hardship lasts forever. Please don’t do anything reckless”
Hazel was already sobbing, pleading desperately, “Miss Jackson, no matter what happens, I’ll stay by your side. Please, just come down, okay?”
Camila gazed at them, her frenzied e
xpression gradually softening. Her tear–streaked face suddenly broke into a gentle
smile.
She looked at Hazel with deep sincerity. “Hazel, meeting you was the luckiest thing that ever happened to me. Without you, I would’ve died in my first year back with the Jacksons. You gave me a second chance at life.
“Every time they bullied me, you were the one who protected and cared for me. You were the only warmth I ever felt in that house. I always dreamed that one day, when I finally made something of myself, I’d repay you. I wanted to buy you a big house, send Lucy to university, even fund her studies abroad…”
Her voice choked up. “But… but all those dreams have turned to dust. My own parents and Harry framed me, sent me to prison, destroyed my chance to attend Wasmore University, and left me scarred for life. I’m a broken person now, Hazel. I’ll never be able to repay you.”
Hazel wept uncontrollably, remembering the torment Camila had endured in the Jackson household.
“Miss Jackson, things will get better,” Hazel assured her.
Camila shook her head, despair filling her eyes. “No, they won’t. The Jacksons will never stop coming after me. I can’t go back to prison- won’t. The people there beat me every day. It hurt so much… so, so much.”
Hazel was inconsolable, and even Lindsey and Keira’s eyes were red with tears.
How had such a kind–hearted girl been tortured into this state?
Lindsey swallowed her anger and spoke softly, her voice full of love. “They don’t want you, but I do. Come with me, sweetheart. I’ll protect you.”
Camila shook her head. She couldn’t drag this kind–hearted woman into the Jacksons‘ cruelty.
Keira chimed in, her voice anxious. “Child, this pain is temporary. Everything will get better.”
But it wouldn’t.
Her leg would always be crippled. The kidney she lost would never grow back.
She had fought so hard to get into Wasmore University, only to have her future stolen away….
Her life was already ruined.
She turned to Lindsey and whispered, “Thank you.”
Then her gaze fell on Keira. She remembered her Back at the train station, Keira had been the first to stand up for her,
Back then, she had called her “Mom‘
And Keira had truly embraced her like a mother, shielding her in her arms. Even if it had been brief, Camila would never forget it.
She locked eyes with Keira, just as she had the first time they met, and called out with raw sincerity, “Mom… thank you.”
She never used that word lightly.
When she called someone “Mom” she meant it with all her heart.
Eight years ago, at first sight of Belinda, Camila had tearfully called her ‘Mom.”
She had cherished that relationship, treasured the mother she had longed for
But she had been a fool. Belinda had never wanted her
That was why, after being released from prison, she never called her “Mom” again–only Mrs. Jackson
Keira burst into tears, unable to hold back her emotions
Belinda, meanwhile, was frozen in place. That Successfully unlocked! ove and yearning–had, for a brief moment,
made her think Camila was calling out to her
She stared at Camila, but the girl didn’t even glance her way.
Belinda’s heart clenched in agony. Camila, I am your mother… You’d rather call a stranger Mom than me? Do you really
hate me that much?
Chapter? Camila’s Desperate Leap
Realizing she had completely lost Camila’s love, Belinda felt an unbearable pain–for worse than the stab wound in her
stomach
Camila’s tears continued to flow. “Living is too exhausting. I can’t hold on anymore.”
Lindsey, desperate, took a shaky step forward. Her voice, filled with urgency and pleading, trembled. “Sweetheart, don’t do this! If you jump, my heart will break. You’re still no young–there’s so much beauty in the world waiting for you”
Keira, frantic, added, “You don’t have to cry over people who aren’t worth it. If you need a mother, I’ll be y now on, you’ll be my daughter, okay?”
“Miss Jackson, I beg you… please come down.”
your mom From
Camila looked at them, her gaze a mix of despair and relief. “I know you care for me… but I’m just so tired. The world has never been fair to me. No matter how hard I try, I can never escape the pain.”
Lindsey gritted her teeth and made a solemn vow. “I promise you, if you come down, I won’t let anyone hurt you again. I’ll make sure the people who wronged you face justice.”
Camila let out a bitter laugh. “Justice? What justice? Look at me–Ive already been destroyed. Even if they’re punished, I can never get my life back.”
She looked at them, love and sorrow mixing in her eyes. “I have no way to repay your kindness. I’m sorry…”
Then, she closed her eyes, tilted backward, and let go–falling like a broken kite into the void.
“No!” Lindsey, Keira, and Hazel screamed in despair.
At the last second, Owen lunged forward, his arms wrapping around Camila’s waist, yanking her back into the room.
As she landed inside, Camila lost consciousness entirely
Lindsey, Keira, and Hazel rushed to her, shielding her protectively.
Owen’s hands were trembling as if terrified she would slip away if he let go.
And for the first time, he truly felt how trail she had become. She was nothing but skin and bones, so light it seemed she might break at the slightest touch.
His heart clenched. Remembering her despairing words, his eyes burned with unshed tears. A single drop escaped, landing on her bloodstained, tear–streaked face.
Harry stood frozen, his mind replaying Camila’s desperate fall over and over, leaving him hollow and disoriented, as if hist soul had been sucked away.
Belinda sobbed, crawling toward Camila, calling out with trembling agony, “Camila, my daughter…” Her voice was drenched in guilt and sorrow.
Hazel’s eyes flared with rage. She jumped between Camila and Belinda, shouting. “Mrs. Jackson, stop pretending to care! You and your family did this to her! You have no right to call her your daughter–you don’t deserve it! None of you do! Get away from Miss Jackson!”
She shoved Belinda’s outstretched hand aside.
Belinda collapsed onto the floor, weeping uncontrollably.
At that moment, a commotion erupted outside the hospital room.
The next second, Agnes and Ivanna barged in–police officers trailing right behind them.
