Chapter 71 She’s Really Unlucky
Turner was silently driving when Giovani’s voice suddenly broke the quiet.
“You told Grandma?” His tone was indifferent, revealing no hint of emotion.
Turner stole a glance at Giovani through the rearview mirror and saw his expression remain calm, as if it was just a casual question.
Giovani was too hard to read.
Tumer chuckled awkwardly. “Mr. Campbell, I just wanted Lindsey to feel at ease”
Giovani’s voice turned cold. “You talk too much.”
Tumer grinned. “How is that talking too much? I’m only thinking about you.”
Then, he glanced at Camila through the mirror. Judging by their looks, she and Giovani were indeed a striking pair, but she was too short and too skinny.
“You don’t like her?” Tumer asked.
Giovani shot him a sharp look.
Turner immediately shut up and focused on driving.
Camila’s breathing gradually steadied, but she still let out faint sobs from time to time.
Giovani sat beside her, frowning slightly. He reached out and patted her gently, trying to comfort her.
However, Camila didn’t seem to notice. She mumbled something in her sleep, her voice unclear
Giovani stared at her for a long time. He wasn’t sure if it was because of her emotions rubbing off on him, but tonight, his mood was visibly sour.
Whenever he was irritated, he wanted to smoke. He instinctively pulled out a cigarette and was about to light it when he
hesitated
After glancing at the fragile girl beside him, he put the cigarette back and turned to look out the window.
The streetlights of Sancho blurred past like countless flickering stars. Under their glow, Giovani’s profile appeared especially cold and severe.
“Turner, find out everything about her by tomorrow.”
“Got it.”
Harry, Owen, and William had searched for Camila the entire night, yet there was still no sign of her.
When they returned to her hospital room and found the bed empty, their emotions finally exploded.
William’s face turned red with pain and guilt.
Like a raging beast, he took one step after another toward Harry before landing a heavy punch on his face.
“This is all your fault! If you had just treated her like family, would she have felt so hopeless? Would she have left the hospital alone in the middle of the night? Everything that happened to her is because of you!”
Yesterday, she had nearly jumped off a building. He didn’t dare imagine what she might do now, alone and unstable. Harry was caught off guard and staggered backward, blood instantly spilling from the corner of his mouth.
His eyes reddened with rage. Without hesitation, he swung a punch back at William. “And you think you’re any better? Yes. we were cruel to Camila, but she still lived safely in the Jackson family for three years. And you? You’re the one who had her tortured in prison! Every scar on her body was because of your
As Harry spoke, his heart ached like a thousand needles piercing through it.
He knew he was wrong. He had already decided to make up for everything and be a good brother to her. But now, she was
gone.
Why did she have to be so stubborn? She was i

He adored Camila. How could he have allowed her to suffer in prison?
Harry scoffed. “You don’t even have the guts to admit it? What kind of man are you?”
“I said I didn’t do it!” William threw another punch.

Harry wasn’t about to back down either
Harry’s eyes were bloodshot, filled with
he kicked William hard, and within seconds, the two were brawling
hed tears, and his punches grew fencer.
William, equally enraged, fought back with all his strength
Neither of them held back. It was as if they wanted to use this brutal fight to punish themselves
Owen, desperate, tried to intervene, but when he reached for Harry’s arm, the emotionally unstable Harry shook him off and accidentally struck Owen in the chest with his elbow
Owen groaned and stumbled back Before he could steady himself, Williamnis misplaced punch landed heavey on his shoulder.
Owen wavered, pain flashing across his face. He was both furious and anxious.
“Are you two insane?!” Owen toated
Harry turned to him, eyes dark with hatred. His trembling fingers pointed straight at Owen. “You grew up with Camila. Why did you personally send her to prison? Why?”
Every word was like a sharp knife stabbing straight into Owen’s heart.
His face instantly turned pale as painful memories flooded back.
“Shut up! Shut up” Owen snapped. It was as if someone had touched his deepest wound, shattering his last bit of restraint His eyes burned red as he swung a full–force punch at Harry’s face.
Harry’s mouth bled again. “You-
The hospital room, already a mess, descended into complete chaos. Objects were scattered across the floor, the IV stand was knocked over, and glass shards were everywhere.
The three of them tore into each other like wild animals, their clothes wrinkled and faces bruised.
In the midst of the brawl, none of them noticed a figure standing at the door.
Hazel watched coldly, her expression filled with mockery.
Camila was truly unlucky–unlucky to have met these lunatics.
These three men were once people Camila had cared about. And yet, their way of repaying her was five years of imprisonment.
They never reflected on their own actions. They only knew how to push the blame onto others.
Hazel had already been informed by Keira that Camila had been found. She had only come to the hospital to pack up Camila’s things and handle her discharge.
She hadn’t expected to witness this absurd scene.
Without hesitation, Hazel turned to leave. She had no intention of telling them about Camila’s whereabouts.
They didn’t deserve to know
As everything settled into an eerie silence, Harry slumped into a chair, his hands covering his face, his shoulders trembling ever so slightly.
William, still gasping for breath, leaned against the wall, his gaze empty as he stared blankly at the floor.
Owen stood by the window, looking out into the distance–his entire being hollow, as if his soul had been stripped away.
At the Campbell family, Giovani stood by the floor–to–ceiling window, holding a thick stack of documents
Turner was efficient–he had dug up Camila’s entire life history in just one night.
After reading through it, Giovani’s expression darkened.
Every word on the pages dripped with sorrow.
Camila was only twenty–three, yet in all those years, she had never known a single day of peace.
She had never felt the warmth of a home in the orphanage. She had thought she had found a family with the Jacksons, only to endure three years of cold indifference.
She had worked hard to graduate, hoping to attend Wasmore University–only to be falsely accused and thrown into prison. She had dominated Sancho High School as the top student for three years.
She had remained undefeated in physics competitions.
With such outstanding academic records, such remarkable talent, she could never have been a failure at Wasmore University.
Chapter 21 She’s Really Unlucky
What a pity. Giovani was a cold and distant man, yet even he furrowed his brows at her tragic life.
Behind him, Tumer felt the suffocating pressure of his boss’s mood and couldn’t help but grimace.
Camila’s life was miserable beyond words. He couldn’t even begin to imagine how such a frail girl had managed to endure it
all.
Not for a day or two–but for twenty–three years.
Just as he was fuming with indignation, Lindsey entered the room with Keira and Hazel
Giovani quickly handed the documents to Turner. ‘Put them away. Don’t let Grandma see”
Turner swiftly complied.
“Giovani, where’s Camila? Lindsey asked excitedly.
“She’s still sleeping: Giovani replied.
“It’s almost ten, and she’s still not up?” Worried, Lindsey hurried upstairs.
Giovani didn’t think much of it, assuming Camila was just sleeping off last night’s drinks.
But moments later, Lindsey’s panicked voice echoed down the hall. “Camila! What’s wrong? Don’t scare me!” Giovani’s heart sank. He rushed upstairs.
