A second chance for the CEO
Chapter 26
Stella’s delicate hands trembled slightly, but she placed them firmly round Nathan’s neck. She tried to unbutton the buttons of his shirt, but, probably due to nervousness, had difficulty.
Her nervousness made her even more frantic, until Nathan took a firm hold of her hands.
“Relax,” he said in a firm but calm voice.
Stella lowered her hands, not daring to look at him. She knew Natha when she saw his defined torso on display. He pulled her lose with

was unbuttoning his own shirt and couldn’t help but swallow quick, enveloping movement.
“Why don’t we go to the bedroom?” she whispered hesitantly, taking his arm.
“Today, I want you right here,” he replied, grabbing her face with his hand and leaning in to kiss her.
The next morning, Stella was the first to wake up. Her body was sore the result of the previous night’s intensity, which had gone from the office to the bedroom, stretching late into the night.
Nathan’s hands were on her waist, and she looked at his face as he slept, admiring his features. But her mind inevitably turned to
thoughts of Olivia. Would it be like that between them too?
She realized that she was getting too deep into these thoughts and tried to push them away. But a strange feeling, like a pang in her heart, seized her. Stella covered her eyes, frustrated with herself for feeling something she couldn’t understand.
Sleepless, she carefully got out of bed, moving Nathan’s hand aside and putting on the clothes scattered on the floor. Today was Saturday, and Nathan had no work commitments, so she decided to let him sleep in.
When she picked up her cell phone, she saw a call from Jorge, which made her frown. She went out onto the balcony before
answering.
“About the money,,!…”
Before she could finish, Jorge interrupted her, excited:
“You did it, Ella! I knew he’d give in eventually. You are husband and wife, after all. Remember to thank Nathan for me. In a few days‘ time, ask him to come home for dinner. I want to thank him personally.”
Jorge’s words left her confused. Where had the money come from?
“Have you received the money?” she asked.
“Yes, it was transferred to my account this morning.. That’s why I called you.“.
Stella looked at Nathan, who was still sleeping, through the window. It couldn’t be him. He had always opposed helping his family, considering them greedy. So it could only be Victor.
Later, in the studio Stella called Victor to confirm her suspicion.
“Victor, did you transfer the money to my father’s account?”
“No…” Victor replied, looking surprised. “I was going to take care of that now. Has he already received the money?”

“Yes, this morning.”
Stella froze. If it wasn’t Victor, then… could it be Nathan?
The idea seemed absurd, but she couldn’t completely shake it. Still, it wasn’t him, who could it have been?
Meanwhile, Nathan woke up to Liam’s smiling face next to him. The little boy touched his forehead with his hand and asked:
“Why are you up so late, Daddy?”
“Almost noon already?” Nathan asked, scratching his eyes.
“Yes! Do you know where mommy is?”
Nathan looked at the empty side of the bed. What time had Stella left?
“She’s not downstairs?”
“No…” Liam answered, wiggling his little legs. “I wanted to be the first to say happy birthday to her.”
“Is today her birthday?” Nathan frowned.
“Yes! Bisa reminded me of that.” Liam smiled, holding up a small package. “This is my present for her: a necklace with a ring. Great- grandma helped me wrap it. I want her to wear it, so we’ll always be close to each other.”
The boy held the present carefully with a beaming smile. Nathan looked at it and, for the first time, found himself thinking about
what he could give Stella for her birthday.
