A second chance for the CEO
Chapter 29
Liam put on his own present and passed it to Stella.
“Mom, this is my present for you.”
Stella opened the boxes and took out a necklace with a ring, the fruit of Liam’s hard work and heart.
At this point, Stella took the necklace from his hands, her eyes moistening slightly.
“Liam, thank you, Mommy really likes it.” She kissed Liapt’s little face.
“Mom, Dad made you a present too.” Liam hugged her and, in a soft bice, said next to her ear.
Stella looked at the bouquet of white roses next to her. She thought he had received Nathan’s present: fresh flowers, music, cakes and dinner.
Stella was so happy today, and Liam felt it too. Today her mood was especially good. After dinner, she wasn’t ready to go home and still wanted to stroll down the street.
Unlike the big mall, the pedestrian street was always full of people. Even in this cold winter, there were many people around.
Nathan didn’t like this kind of atmosphere, so Stella thought he would reject it. But she didn’t expect him to agree and patiently accompanied them for a walk in the evening.
Because of Liam’s illness, he couldn’t eat indiscriminately. However, the street was full of various snack and food bazaars.
As they walked, the smells of food were everywhere, and Liam leaned forward and rested his upper body in Stella’s embrace, looking straight into her eyes.
He was a bit of a foodie, but ever since he’d been ill, his diet had become restricted and he hadn’t been able to eat much.
At this point, Stella felt a little sad and hugged Liam tightly.
“Liam, take care. Wait until you’re healthy, then you can eat whatever you want, okay?”
“It’s okay, Mom!” Liam said sympathetically.
Although Liam didn’t eat what he wanted, he bought a lot of things he wanted. So he still felt satisfied. He didn’t feel tired and, when they got back to the car, he was playing with his toys. When they arrived at the Collins family home, Stella went to Liam’s room first to help him shower.
She waited until he was asleep and then returned to the bedroom.
“Mom, Dad still has a present for you.” Liam kept tugging on her hand.
Stella asked what kind of present it was, but he just covered his mouth and didn’t want to share. He said it wouldn’t be a surprise, then.
When Stella return to her room, Nathan was in the bathroom taking a shower. She charged his unloaded phone and when he finally called, she saw a lot of missed calls: from Victor, Fernanda and Caroline.
She returned the calls, one by one, and finally called Victor.
“Ella, happy birthday.”

“Thank you.” Stella smiled slightly.
“I called you several times today, but your phone was still switched. Did something happen?”
“Sorry. My phone ran out of battery. Victor, what’s the matter?”
“Nothing. I just wanted to make an appointment with you and Liam to have dinner together.”
On discovering that Victor had been looking for her all day, Stella fel very sorry.
“Victor, I’m sorry. Today…” Her words had not yet been spoken, but her phone had been stolen.
She turned her body and looked at Nathan, who was stamling behind her. He took the phone from her, switched it off and threw it
on the bedside table.
Stella resented his action. She frowned, reached out to take the phone, but Nathan stopped her. With his dark eyes, he looked at
her.
“I’ve told you so many times to distance yourself from Victor, but my words are like wind in your ear?”
Stella was so angry that she closed her hand and hit him in the chest.
“But that doesn’t mean I want to cut my ties with him. He and I are still just ordinary friends!”
“Is that so?” Nathan raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing it.
“What right do you have to hang up on me?”
“I’m your husband. Isn’t that enough validity?”
“Husband?” Stella laughed ironically. “What kind of husband are you? What kind of couple are we? Besides, we’re about to get divorced…” Her voice became lower and lower, with sadness on her face.
Nathan really didn’t like looking at her like that. When he wasn’t aware of it, he had already grabbed her face, lowered his hand and kissed her forehead, eyebrows, the tip of her nose. He kept moving lower, stopping at her red lips and kissed her deeply.
Stella’s breathing gradually became unsteady, and she wanted to push Nathan away, but her hands had no strength.
She felt immature, as she was being provoked by this man. So she easily fell into the trap he had prepared and was unable to free
herself.
When they both gradually lost themselves in each other, the phone thrown by Nathan vibrated again. In the blink of an eye, Stella regained consciousness and pushed Nathan away. She bent down to pick him up. It was Victor.
“Victor, I’m sorry. A little earlier the phone was having problems.” Stella answered hastily.
“It’s all right.” Victor smiled slightly. “Ella, I have to go abroad for a while and I’ll leave tomorrow evening. Shall we have lunch together? Please take Liam. I haven’t seen him for a long time…”
Stella clutched the phone. With both legs on the wool carpet, her hair messy, clothes crumpled and buttons undone from the previous kiss, she oled attractive.
With a few buttons unbuttoned, his delicate collarbone was exposed. Nathan took a sapphire blue box out of his coat pocket. He opened it and inside was a necklace.
