Chapter 31
“Anna, Carla, Filipo, good morning!” Stella greeted everyone at the table.
“Ella, sit down.” Anna seemed in a good mood.
Stella sat down and stroked Liam’s little face.
“Liam, why are you up so early today?”
“Mom, I took great–grandma for a walk outside.”
“Yes, earlier this morning, he was walking me.” – Anna was laughing, so she asked. “Ella, where’s Nathan? Is he awake?”
“He’s awake, he’s taking a call.”
When Anna heard this, her face immediately closed up.
“Is he talking to that fifth–rate model again?”
+
Anna always called Olivia a fifth–rate model, and at this point, Carla tried to defend the woman she wanted as a daughter–in–law.
“Mother–in–law, calling Olivia that isn’t nice, she’s a good woman, you’ve never given her a chance.”
“A good woman? A chance?” – Anna laughed and looked at Carla. – “So, even though she’s a third in a marriage, she’s a good woman?” – Anna asked, but Carla didn’t have the words to answer. – “You like her a lot, don’t you? Do you want to join her abroad and be away from the family for a while? Why don’t I find a good wife for my son? If you don’t give a damn about your mother–in- law or your grandson, why should I give a damn about you?”
Carla paled at Anna’s words, and Filipo saw that the problem was growing.
“Mom, don’t be angry, Carla did it accidentally too, please forgive her!”
Anna didn’t want to talk about Carla anymore, so she just snorted coldly and looked at Stella.
“Ella, I recently saw that you and Nathan are in a good relationship, how was it? Any good news?”
Over the last few days, Stella had already bought a pregnancy test, but she still hadn’t gotten pregnant.
“It won’t happen soon,
Grandma.”
Anna nodded and smiled slightly, she used her hand to stroke Liam’s head.
“Then you should try harder with Nathan, soon you’ll be giving our Liam a sister or brother.”
“All right, Grandma.”
The conversation ended and Nathan was on his way downstairs. However, he didn’t sit down to eat his breakfast, he just came to say
hello.
“Good morning everyone, I’m not having coffee, I’m going straight to the office.”
“Son, aren’t you going to have coffee?” – Carla asked.

“No, I still have some things to sort out.”
Nathan’s long fingers picked up the car keys and he left.
“Ella, you should try harder, sometimes happiness depends on our effort to fight, right?” – Anna said, looking at his tall, elegant figure.
Stella knew that Anna only wanted her good, but how could they be happy together? As long as Liam was healthy, they would divorce and disappear forever from each other’s lives, never to meet gain.
That was her and Nathan’s future. There was no one there.
At that moment, her gaze accidentally met Carla’s cool, serene eyes, and she looked away.
Stella had been married into the Collins family for four years, she never deliberately went out to gain favor by flattering anyone, she just lived her own life. But in Carla’s eyes, no matter what she did, everything had a strong motivation, and not a good one.
In those four years, the two of them had very
little interaction.
Carla hated her so much that this was already implicit in her attitude towards Liam, and this point also left her a little at a loss, because no matter how much Liam is still her own grandson, besides he’s still a three–year–old boy.
She shouldn’t let her mood influence her affection for this grandson. This afternoon, Stella didn’t go out, she just conveniently walked Liam home.
Since his illness, Liam no longer went to kindergarten. He was hospitalized for a long time, and every day he missed his previous times at kindergarten. He was a lively and active child, and he also liked to play and be with his friends, yet every day he spent in
hospital without spirit, that lack of vitality.
Although he didn’t go to kindergarten, if only he had the time, Stella would teach him something at home.
At that moment, Stella accompanied him to look at the literate diagram. They both looked really serious, not paying the slightest attention to the person standing in front of the door.
“Stella!” – Carla had already knocked a few times, but the mother and son inside had no detectable movement, she controlled her
fury and spoke.
“Mother–in–law, is there a problem?” – Stella finally listened, then turned her head.
“Come with me for a while, I want to talk to you.”

She finished her sentence and had already left Liam’s room. But Stella was scared for a while, because Carla never came to her, and even Liam sensed that there was something wrong with Carla’s motivation to look for Stella, so he pulled her hand.
“Mom, hy is Grandma looking for you?”
“I don’t know, I’ll see what she wants, just stay right here!”
She left–Liam’s room and saw Carla standing on the balcony at the end of the corridor, and opening the French window, Stella stepped out onto the balcony.
“Mother–in–law, are you looking for me?”
A tent had been set up on the balcony and there were seats.
During the summer, Liam really likes to go there, but now the weather is too cold and, besides, for health reasons, he rarely goes

there.
“Sit down.” – Carla glanced at her and smiled.
As for her attitude, Stells didn’t mind too much, so she sat down opposite her.
“Stella, I want to know your plans for the future. Do you really plan on staying with the Collins Family forever?” Carla spoke directly to Stella.
“I don’t understand what you mean by that.”
14
“You don’t understand?” – Carla raised an eyebrow and laughed cold. “You understood what I meant, and don’t pretend to be stupid. You should clearly recognize your own path, and you should so know that Nathan doesn’t love you. His future is with Olivia, and even if you’ve worked hard to stay in the Collins family, at too will be useless, because you’ll never have his heart.”
So that’s what Carla wanted to tell him.
