Chapter 23
This night was different more intense, more desperate.
Despite his injured arm, Nathan’s passion was overwhelming, each touch electric with barely contained possession.
He turned our intimacy into a game of cruel choices, his voice rough against my ear:
“Tell me who you want more.”
“Who makes you feel better?*
In a moment of defiance, I whispered Matthew’s name.
A mistake that earned me exquisite torture until I could barely remember my own name, let alone his brother’s.
Wave after wave of pleasure crashed over me until I felt like I was drowning in sensation.
Nathan marked my skin with his teeth, claiming every inch.
“I love you,” he breathed against my neck.
Lost in the haze of pleasure, I gasped: “I love you too.”
His movements stilled, joy blooming in his dark eyes.
Perhaps I’d fallen for him long before this moment.
Beyond his devastating looks, Nathan possessed a quiet intensity that drew me in. Even during his careful pursuit, I’d found myself studying him, falling deeper.
Later, retrieving our takeout, I spotted a small velvet box by the door.
Inside lay that familiar ring – Matthew’s sole gift from our first month together.
He must have been here, standing outside while Nathan claimed me completely. Each sound must have torn through him until he finally fled, leaving behind this last piece of our past.
“Regrets?” Nathan asked, noting my expression.
“Just one.”

His jaw tightened.
“If I’d known he was listening, I would have been louder.”
Nathan’s laugh was dark with promise.
“We can fix that. Show me how loud you can be.”
