Chapter 9
Chapter 9
I watched Matthew’s emotional breakdown with hidden fascination. This wasn’t going the way I’d
expected.
Nathan didn’t dodge a single punch.
Just took each hit squarely.
He wiped blood from his lip, calm as ever.
“Keep going.” Matthew obliged with two more solid punches.
Then it clicked.
When Nathan said “let me handle it,” he meant… letting his brother vent his rage?

confusion.
“Nathan, leave. I need to talk to him alone.” Nathan refused.
“Trust me,” I softened my voice. “Some things only I can fix.”
Nathan finally left. As the door closed behind him…

The moment Nathan was gone, Matthew pulled me into his arms, apologizing frantically: “Emma, baby, I’m so sorry. I’m such an asshole. This is all my fault…”
I let my carefully prepared tears fall.
“Your brother…”

“What about him?”
“He… he blackmailed me with your messages. I had no choice!”
I felt Matthew tense against me.
The seeds of doubt were planted. Brother against brother. And me in the middle, pulling all the strings.
Just like I planned.
Because what neither of them knew was this: I’d seen through their twin switch game from day one.
And now… Now it was my turn to play.
