Chapter 20
Gemini’s POV
The scary images of the dark cell replayed in my mind. My stomach clenched and my breath seized, I was more than traumatised. My heart was pounding heavily, my eyes shut… I tried opening them but it was almost impossible, I fought hard to get myself out of this nightmare but my eyes just wouldn’t bulge.
“I’ve missed these lips so much,” A voice cooed not too far from my hearing.
Running from the nightmare that had enveloped me, my eyes finally fell open- open to a scene I had never imagined to see, at least not this soon.
Another nightmare- or would I rather call it a DAYMARE?
Becca’s arms wrapped around King Asher as she stood on her tippy toes and pressed a kiss onto his lips.
I couldn’t explain how fast my heart was beating, but the heart monitor explained it on my behalf. I hadn’t even realised I was in the hospital, until
that moment.
“This day can’t get any worse, can it?” Elsie whimpered.
don’t even know which was more heartbreaking, the dark cell or this-
Curse the mate bond, how could it click at this point? How could I not have felt it until this moment where I’m already dying of jealousy?
King Asher’s eyes met mine and he immediately threw her hands from off him. “Gemini,” he muttered, looking somewhat panicked.
I tried to steady my heartbeat but I was failing miserably. “Doctor!” King Asher barked as he stepped out of the wardroom.
Becca on the other hand stood at the corner of the room where King Asher had pushed her to, a satisfied look glimmering in her eyes.
All I could read from the smile on her face was, “In your face!”
After proper examination and medication, I was able to relax. I pleaded with the doctor not to let anyone into my wardroom. I didn’t want to see any of their mocking faces, and neither did I want to argue with anyone in this state.
í remained in the hospital for another week and during that time, I tried my best to avoid seeing or talking to him even if I had to pretend I was asleep every time he came around.
It was soon time to be discharged, thankfully King Asher couldn’t make it and so I rode back home with Alan.
A soon as I stepped out of the car, a wave of dizziness hit me. I tried to hold the car for support but my hand slipped and I was heading for the floor.
“Ma’am!” Alan called as he hurried to me,
He grabbed me by the waist and pulled me close to himself our eyes met in that awkward moment and I felt a weird chill run down my spine.
When he was sure I was standing properly, he let go. “I’m so sorry your majesty, I didn’t mean to touch you inappropriately.” He apologised. I actually didn’t take it as anything because he acted on his first instinct.
“It’s fine,” I said, brushing him off. “Can you please take me to my room now?”
He hesitated, “I think it would be better if the maids took you, I don’t want to get into any problems with King Asher.” He explained.
My brows arched in confusion, “Trust me, I know what I’m saying.” He added, making me even more curious.
What the heck was he insinuating?
I was assisted back to my room by the maids whose usual mocking looks were now replaced with caution. As we walked, I couldn’t help but notice the subtle glances they exchanged, their whispers and nods. It was as if they had been warned or even threatened to treat me with a certain level of respect they had never accorded me before.
One of them handed me a glass of water and a small basket of fruit. Her hands trembled slightly as she placed the items on my bedside table.
“Is there anything else we can get for you, ma’am?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
I shook my head as a feeling of exhaustion washed over me. “No, thank you Just just leave me alone for now.”

Chapter 20
1 buried myself in a book from that time till I got bored and that was around the time of sunset, I made my way to the balcony where I sometimes go to watch the beach. It was tranquil over there, and the air was fresh. It almost felt like I was outside of the choking atmosphere that King Asher and his family brought me.
“Hi,” a deep voice resounded behind me.
I spun around to see a glaring green eyes staring intensely at me- Cain.
“If you’re here to make fun of me, I suggest you just move along. I’m really not in the mood today.”
He didn’t move, instead, he continued to look down at me. He was almost as tall as King Asher and so it was normal for him to view me as little.
“What do you want?” I asked, my voice stern.
His eyes brightened in amusement, a playful grin playing across his face. “Actually, there’s a lot I want…” He started, his words filled with sarcasm. “I want an armour suitable to withstand any battle, I also want a shield that can protect me from every kind of attack and even curse so that I don’t end up like Asher.”
My eyes widened with curiosity, I was still trying to grapple with the bombshell he had just dropped, but he wasn’t done talking.
“And most importantly, I want a blonde girl with piercing blue eyes. I would also love it if she was slender, yet curvy, just like you.”
I rolled my eyes at his comment, “I didn’t mean you…” He defended. “Your hair isn’t blonde, and your eyes-” he said, pausing for a bit to study my eye’s colour.
“They’re just like mine,” his tone hinted at his surprise.
“Wow, this is crazy…” He muttered under his breath.
I was just as surprised as he was when I found out too, that turquoise green was a very rare eye colour around this region, and most people who had it, inherited it from one of their parents. Just like I did with my mother-
Neither of Cain’s parents has that colour of eyes, and since he is Asher’s stepbrother, that means there’s another parent who we know nought of.
For a split second, I found myself thinking if I and Cain related to each other in a way. But I immediately dismissed the thought, knowing how impossible it sounded.
Back to our conversation, “Nice to officially meet you, Gemini.” He said with his arm stretched out,
“Back at the table, I didn’t think you were this talkative,” I said, totally ignoring his outstretched hand.
He chuckled lightly, “Only a few people get to see this version of me.”
“Hmm…” I sighed, “You still haven’t answered my question though.”
“But I did. didn’t I?”

I sighed in resignation, making an attempt to leave. His cold hands captured my wrist. “I’m so sorry for pulling your legs, I actually came to check up on you. I heard about everything that happened…”
I glared at him in disbelief, was this some kind of plot or trick? “I mean no harm, trust me.” He said, patting me on the shoulder before leaving.
I was still trying to understand what had just happened when I suddenly remembered that I forgot to ask him what he meant when he said he didn’t want to be cursed like Asher…
The word ‘cursed‘ echoed in my mind as his retreating figure disappeared into the dim hallways, leaving me behind with more questions than
