Chapter 22
Becca’s POV
Asher frowned slightly, “Does Becca really have to be here?”
I swallowed hard, my eyes searching for who would defend me. “Of course,” Mrs Blackwood chimed in, saving the day as usual. “Becca is family
too.”
It didn’t seem to sit well with Asher, but he continued either way. “I called this meeting for a purpose, and that is to clear everyone’s questions on what my deal with Gemini is.”
Deal you say? Interesting!
My cheek lifted into a smirk, I knew it was all too good to be true. Asher had rejected several Lycan mates, so I was really worried as to why he accommodated a Werewolf.
I crossed my leg above the other, balancing into my seat as I readied myself for what he was about to say. I quickly put on my phone recorder. You know, just in case.
Seated with me in the room was Andrew, Angela and Cain Blackwood. That’s Asher’s parents and his annoying step brother.
“I owe no one an explanation, cause this is my life and my problem to deal with. But I have gathered you all today because I want to warn everyone carefully.” His stern gaze dropped on me.
“From today on, let no soul speak ill of Gemini or even try to do any silly pranks with her, she is mine and my problem to deal with. Understood!”
Andrew Blackwood didn’t seem too happy about Asher’s words and decided to voice out his concerns, “Asher, that’s no way to address your family, most especially not me. I handed over to you because I knew my sickness won’t let me be as efficient as I should, but you still owe me a proper feedback and explanation of all you do here.”.
Asher’s stern expression didn’t falter, even for a bit. “You are the same man that taught me that Lycan Kings don’t have to answer to anyone. I’m only living by your rule.”
That statement alone silenced Mr Blackwood for a long time.
*Five years ago, I lost my ability to reproduce with any woman, thanks to a curse by The Resplendent Sorceress of Edenville.” Asher revealed.
Everyone gasped except for Cain, who showed no surprise at the news. I knew that beneath Cain’s careless playboy attitude was a smart young man, but that young man was my archenemy.
“Asher, why are you just telling us this?” Angela queried, her tone unstable.
Totally ignoring her question, Asher continued, “To redeem the curse, I need a born warrior wolf,”
“Born Warrior wolf?” I asked, “And how do you know them?”
“I was coming to that- Asher said dismissively. “According to research, there was only one left, Gemini’s mother. But then, when she gave birth to Gemini, she realised that Gemini also had the moon tattoo on her from birth, and that simply means that Gemini is also A Born Warrior wolf.”
Mr Blackwood seemed intrigued by the topic, Almost like he had something to do with it.
“So the tattoo is an indication of their powers?” He pondered.
Asher looked at him but didn’t respond. Instead, he continued with what he had been explaining. “Gemini would be the mother of my heir and as long as she is here, I want everyone to treat her right.”
Cain lifted his head finally, “So basically you’re just using her?” He asked, clearly not impressed. “Does she know about it?”
Asher’s gaze lingered on him for a moment, “We’re done here, there’s nothing more to discuss.” Asher dismissed.
“Typical Asher, Cain muttered under his breath.
“Hold on, Asher. Does that mean that after she has delivered your heir, you can then pick another woman as your chosen mate?” Angela asked enthusiastically.
“That’s left for me to decide.” Asher cut her off almost immediately.
I smiled at the news, that meant one thing. I still have a chance in Asher’s life, I just have to play my cards right.
