Pandora yawned as she walked out of her house, feeling tired. She got in her car and looked at her cell. There was a huge part of her that wanted to call Benjamin and find out how he was, how Maisey was, but she couldn’t seem to make the call.
She managed to get him to the hospital quickly and dropped him off at the emergency room. After he got out of the car, she felt the overwhelming need to go with him. Instead, she allowed him to just go, and she drove around the car park..
After she had found a space, she walked into the hospital and saw Benjamin sitting with his mom and a man who must have been his dad. There was another doctor who looked upset and frantic as he spoke to Benjamin and his family.
As Pandora looked to the side of the doctor, she saw a woman who looked a lot like Milton’s wife, Alexis. She quickly summarized that they must be the doctor and nurse who were treating Maisey.
With one last look at Benjamin, who started to sob as he hugged the doctor, Pandora walked away.
She felt wrong as she walked out of the hospital. She had a strange desire to be there for him. Even knowing his family was there for him didn’t calm her.
She let out a shaky breath, remembering the stress she felt. “I’ll call him in a few days,” she muttered as she started her car.
She was only a few minutes into her journey when her car started to chug and acted as if it was struggling. Her eyes narrowed as she looked in her rearview mirror. Pulling her car closer to the side of the road, the car reacted and she felt it starting to shake.
“Come on, don’t die now,” she prayed to the car as it stalled and stopped. “Fuck,” she cursed, knowing that she was on a busy road.
She looked out her window as a car zoomed past her, rocking her whole car.
Pandora took a few deep breaths and pulled her cell phone out. She listened to the ring as another car zoomed past her.
“Pandora, Aron replied, sounding confused.
“My car broke down on the freeway. It won’t start.” She stopped talking as a car zoomed close by her. “I’m scared,” she said, holding back a sob. “Why will Karma not get off my ass?”
‘Pandora, just calm down, I’ll send some of the guys and a tow truck out. Do not try to get out of that car!”
Pandora snorted like she was getting out on this road of death. She clasped her steering wheel, holding it as another car zoomed past her. Each car zooming by felt closer than the one before, and her car rocked back and forth as each one sped past her.
The speed limit may have been forty, but the way they were flying by, left one to believe they were all speeding.
Pandora saw blue flashing lights, and then an officer got out of his car and walked between her car and the bridge railing.
“Ma’am,” he said and she looked at him, closing her eyes as another big truck barreled past.
‘My car broke down,” she told him, letting out a breath.
“Okay, stay nice and calm,” he asked her as his eyes landed on her bump.
‘I have a tow truck coming,” she informed, just as it pulled up in front of her.
“Looks like it’s here, but you’re going to have to get out and come to my car for safety.” Pandora shook her head at him. “Sorry, ma’am but it will be safer, and I am right here to help you.”
He moved to her side of the car and slowly opened the door. She unbuckled, and just as she stepped out, several big trucks rumbled past. The air almost sucked them into the traffic, and she gripped the policeman.
He smiled calmly at her. “We need to stay close to the car, okay?‘
Pandora nodded at him and he took small steps with her. She looked behind her to see the guys were already getting her car onto the tow truck. The policeman opened the door to the cruiser, and she slid into the passenger seat.
She sat forward as much as she could and tried to calm her breathing,
“Just breathe nice and slow, ma’am. You can sit here, but you’ll need to put your seatbelt on.”
She grabbed it but with her shaky hand, it seemed stuck. After she tried for a few seconds, the policeman took over and did it for her. He closed her door,

and a few seconds later, she heard his door open.
She closed her eyes as he started the car and merged into the flow of traffic. He stopped long enough to give the tow truck driver the room to pull out onto the road.
“Have you done this before?” she panted as she asked him. She still saw the black patches and felt panicked.
“You’d be surprised,” he stated in a calming voice. Pandora still felt nervous and continued to take deep breaths. “Here you are, ma’am.”
Pandora looked up and saw that they were at the hospital. “Why am I here?” she turned and asked him, pouting.
“You’re in shock and pregnant. You should be checked out. Normally, I would have called an ambulance, but due to traffic and the location, I just brought you myself.”
Pandora groaned but nodded, getting out of the car. She jumped a little when the policeman appeared next to her. “Tell me your information and I’ll get you logged in.‘
She told him all of her information and he left her in a chair in the waiting room.
“Ma’am,” the policeman said, smiling down at her. “I need to go, but they’ll see you soon, take care.”
“Thank you,” Pandora whispered to him and he walked away.
She closed her eyes, rubbing her chest. Her heart felt like it was racing.
“Pandora?” She kept her eyes closed, knowing that she must be hearing Benjamin. “Pandora!” This time, it was just not her name she heard. She also felt his touch.
Her eyes slowly opened to see Benjamin looking at her. His eyes were bloodshot and he looked haggard.
“Hey,” she gasped out as her breathing still seemed to be off. “How are you?” she asked as her hand moved to his face and up to his hair.
