Chapter 14
Back inside, Mr. Sullivan told me that Alexander had already sued Chloe.
It turned out that after Chloe’s burner account was exposed a while back, she and her friend were caught in a media storm. The two wealthy young men involved were also mocked by the entire internet.
As a result, Scarlett’s engagement to the Davis family was called off almost immediately. Chloe was kicked out of the circle.
Not only did Alexander reclaim all the properties and jewelry, but he also sued her for fraud and other charges, leaving her buried in lawsuits.
To make matters worse, the two of them mysteriously encountered some thugs and were beaten up.
I fell silent for a moment, then quietly said, “Then just focus on pushing forward with the divorce case.”
Mr. Sullivan nodded.
I met his deep, calm eyes and felt a slight flutter in my chest.
Actually, I had known him for a long time, even though we’d only been nodding acquaintances.
Back in college, he was already one of the most reliable young lawyers in my father’s circle.
After deciding to divorce, I reached out to him for help, and he agreed without hesitation.
That day, after Alexander chased my car, Mr. Sullivan had confessed his feelings for me. But I turned him down.
Having just ended a seven-year relationship, I was afraid.
Now, I knew for sure that rather than tying all my emotions to someone else, it was better to keep them to myself.
But I was grateful to him for remaining composed and respectful, not pushing me and not disturbing my peace.
Day by day, my mood improved.
But Alexander was still entangled in my life.
He often waited outside the office, in the parking garage, or outside my villa.
Even my parents were starting to notice.
Dad arranged for bodyguards to accompany me everywhere.
Mom barged into Alexander’s office and gave him a piece of her mind.
But after being humiliated in front of all the employees, Alexander didn’t explode with anger as expected. Instead, he pleaded:
“Mom, if you’ve calmed down, can you help me persuade Olivia?”
Mom left in a huff.
That night, as the quiet of dawn broke, the sound of my phone ringing shattered the stillness.
It was Mrs. Thompson’s voice.
“Olivia, it’s me. I’m not feeling well and I’m in the hospital… Do you have time to come see me?”
