Chapter 6
So, I signed the papers alone, lay on the cold operating table alone, and severed my connection with that child alone, heartbreaking, painful, and completely solitary.
Meanwhile, Alexander was off taking his mistress around the world.
While they skied, sailed, and rode hot air balloons, I packed up my things and moved out of the house.
Then, I mailed the divorce papers to his office.
Two weeks later, I got a call from Alexander.
But instead of bringing up the divorce, he told me he was on his way to pick me up for his best friend Tyler’s engagement party with Scarlett.
Apparently, he had just landed.
He hadn’t even gone home or to the office yet.
When I walked out of the mall, Alexander’s Maybach was already waiting by the curb.
Naturally, Chloe was sitting in the passenger seat.
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Wood, I get a bit carsick, so I’m sitting here. You don’t mind, do you?” she said sweetly.
Alexander took off his sunglasses, his dark eyes narrowing coldly.
“Olivia, go sit in the back.”
But before he could finish his sentence, I’d already settled into the back seat and fastened my seatbelt.
For a moment, he was speechless.
As he started driving, he casually mentioned that he’d already picked out a dress for her.
But his gaze kept flicking back to the rearview mirror.
Chloe’s voice bubbled with sweet joy.
“Aww, you’re so good to me! Love you!”
I stayed silent, cold and still, asking nothing.
By this point, I thought Alexander should have been satisfied.
But instead, he got inexplicably angry, his tone turning icy.
“Olivia, what’s wrong? A few days apart and you’ve turned mute?!”
I let out a sarcastic laugh.
“What? You told me to get used to it. Now you can’t stand it yourself?”
“Or are you missing someone to applaud you from the sidelines?”
He was left speechless, his anger rising to the surface.
With a growl, he slammed his foot down on the gas pedal.
