Chapter 40 University Enrollment
“Are we really unable to go back to how things were?” Marcus‘ voice carried a tinge of desperation as he looked at Merrick. Merrick’s gaze turned icy as he replied, “Marcus, remember this–since the moment you made me lose everything, there’s no going back for us. We can never be the same.”
Marcus clenched his jaw, his expression darkening. “I’ve told you, I wasn’t the one behind what happened back then. Why won’t you believe me?”
“Evidence speaks for itself,” Merrick replied coldly. “You think you can talk your way out of this? It’s clear you’ve spent the past few years without a hint of remorse or reflection.
“But don’t worry–I’m back now. And I’ll make sure you regret it. You’ll beg for mercy and feel every ounce of the pain I once endured. Prepare yourself.”
With those final words, Merrick turned and strode away without looking back.
Watching Merrick’s retreating figure, Marcus furrowed his brow. They had grown up together, side by side for over twenty years. But because of that single incident, their brotherhood had shattered.
‘I didn’t do anything to him. Yet he refuses to believe me,‘ he thought sadly.
Outside the hospital, Celeste sat in her car, reading Marcus‘ text. He’d located the person who had poisoned him, so she was free to leave.
Her gaze lingered on the message before she tucked her phone away and started the engine.
With this issue resolved, she could finally take care of her university enrollment.
Upon arriving at Crestwood College, she made her way straight to the principal’s office.
The moment he saw her, he stood up excitedly, waving her in. “Celeste! It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. That must have been quite a journey–please, sit down, and I’ll get you some water.”
Celeste shifted uncomfortably at his enthusiasm. “No need for that, sir. If you could just go over the enrollment paperwork with me, that’ll do.”
The principal could barely contain his excitement.
After all, she was only the second student to gain admission to Crestwood College with a perfect score.
The first was none other than Marcus, who had since become a prominent figure in Ravenshire.
Celeste might be the next.
Eager to make a good impression, he handed her the water and then the admissions forms.
“Just fill out these forms, Celeste. Let me know if you’ll need on–campus housing; we can arrange that as well,” he said gently.
Celeste didn’t care for the idea of sharing space with a group of people, so she’d already made up her mind. Once she was officially enrolled at Crestwood College, she’d buy a nearby place to live on her own.
It would be close enough to campus for convenience, and she’d have the peace and quiet of her own space–no interruptions, no one to bother her.
She shook her head. “No, thank you. I don’t plan to stay on campus.”
“Alright, the principal said. “All you need to do is fill out the enrollment application and select your department.”
Celeste nodded, taking the paperwork and filling it out meticulously.
Her handwriting was so elegant that the principal couldn’t help but compliment her. “Celeste, you’re not only brilliant academically, your handwriting is impeccable! It’s rare to see a student with such well–rounded talents.”
Celeste offered a polite smile, handing the completed forms back to him. As the principal glanced through her application, his eyes lingered over the section for her parents‘ names.
Curiosity getting the better of him, he asked, “Celeste, I notice your surname is Sinclair, but neither of your parents shares it. Any reason for that?”
She met his gaze with a slight smile. “Is that se
The principal quickly shook his head. “No, not
Successfully unlocked!
Celeste stood to bid hirm farewell. “Well then, if there’s nothing else, see you tomorrow.”
Celeste nodded and left the office. Her striking presence reminded him of Marcus–both driven, both with an undeniable charisma.

The principal sat back down, thoughtful as he reviewed her application. And then it hit him.
He stared at the name of her father: Rafferty Huxley.
‘Wait, Rafferty Huxley seems to be the chairman of Huxley Group, he thought.
He glanced again at the name listed under “Mother” on the form. It looked familiar–it was Rafferty’s wife.
Putting two and two together, he realized something incredible. ‘Celeste might be the long–lost daughter of the Huxley family–the one recently discovered and brought home.‘
The principal made a silent vow to support her success at Crestwood College.
After leaving the university, Celeste began her search for a place to live.
The Brity Apartment building, directly across from campus, was ideal, though the price was steep–a whopping 3 thousand dollars per square foot.
Fortunately, Chloe had recently transferred 50 million dollars to her, so she could afford a nice place nearby.
She browsed the listings on her phone and found a suitable unit. A quick call to the owner, and they set up a meeting.
The landlord was thrilled to have a buyer ready to pay in cash and met her at Brity Apartment to finalize the sale.
Celeste transferred half the amount, agreeing to settle the rest after the title transfer.
By the time everything was sorted, it was already late afternoon. She returned to the villa, feeling the weight of the long day. As she entered, Amara greeted her with a warm smile and a wave from the living room, where she was busy sorting through a vast selection of newly delivered clothes.
“Celeste! Come and help me pick out some outfits,” Amara called, her voice bright.
Celeste joined her, staring in mild disbelief at the endless rows of clothes–every style and occasion covered, even the latest releases from Marcus‘ company.
Her eyes fell on a particular piece, a stunning gown called the ‘Nebula Sheen‘. It was the very dress she’d recently worn on the runway, crafted to her exact measurements. She held it up, recognizing it immediately.
She couldn’t believe it was here.
“Mom, this dress… “Celeste began, her eyes wide in surprise.
Amara beamed, cutting her off with a proud smile. “Beautiful, isn’t it? This is the ‘Nebula Sheen‘, the latest release from the Hale Group!
“There’s only one in the world, and I managed to snatch it up. I just knew it would look stunning on you, Celeste. Feels like it was made just for you.”
‘Of course, it fits me perfectly, she thought. ‘I tailored it to my own measurements.‘
Celeste set the dress down, a quiet smile forming. “It really is beautiful,” she replied.
Amara clapped her hands, clearly pleased. “Since you love it, it’s yours! And these other new pieces for the season–pick out a few more, Celeste. I’ll have the maids bring everything up to your room.”
