Chapter 78 The Liar
Chapter 78 The Liar
Confused, Declan said, “I don’t understand. You are far inferior to Isolde in every aspect.
“Why did the Hale family choose you? Are they not afraid that you will disgrace them?”
Hearing this, Celeste felt speechless.
“Do you want another slap?“.
Instantly, Declan took two steps backward. “How petty! Can’t I tell the truth?”
“Are you sure that you did?”
Declan rolled his eyes at Celeste. “Of course!”
Damn!
With a fierce look, Celeste asked, “I was admitted into Crestwood College because of my outstanding academic records, and what about Isolde?”
“And so was she. She was a straight–A student.”
If Declan was right, why had Amara told Celeste of her pulling strings for Isolde’s offer from Crestwood College?
Obviously, Isolde wasn’t outstanding enough to get the offer from Crestwood College. It seemed Amara had lied to Declar for Isolde’s self–esteem.
If Isolde was unwilling to tell Declan the truth, Celeste would love to do her a favor.
With her arms crossed, Celeste asked sarcastically, “If Isolde was so outstanding, why did Dad and Mom pull strings for her offer from Crestwood College?”
“What the hell is she talking about?” Declan wondered.
“Nonsense! Isolde was admitted into Crestwood College for her excellence, not our parents‘ connection.”
Declan trusted Isolde so much that Celeste was dumbfounded.
“Call Mom, and we will know who the liar is. I got the information from Mom. It’s alright that you don’t trust me, but Mom doesn’t lie to you, does she?”
To clear Isolde’s name, Declan agreed to make the call.
“Just you wait! I’ll call Mom right now. Let Mom get your lie exposed.”
Then, Declan dialed Amara’s number. The moment the call was answered, Amara’s voice came. “Yes?”
“Mom, Celeste just said that Isolde, without your connections, couldn’t have gone to Crestwood College. She lied, didn’t she?”
Amara didn’t expect such a question from Declan. After a moment of silence, she said, “No, she didn’t.”
“I beg your pardon? No way!” Declan gripped his phone and spoke up for Isolde once again. “Mom, are you maligning Isolde to cover up for Celeste?
“When Isolde got the offer from Crestwood College, you called it the reward of her effort and told me to learn from her. Why did you change the story all of a sudden?”
Because Isolde had asked Amara to cover up for her. In this way, she hadn’t disappointed Declan till now.
Since the lie had been exposed by Celeste, Amara had to break the truth to Declan.
Amara hated to watch Celeste become a liar in the eyes of Declan.
Amara collected her thoughts and answered, “Declan, I helped cover up for Isolde because she didn’t want to disappoint you. It is unnecessary for me to lie again since you already leaned of the truth.
“Isolde could go to Crestwood College because your dad and I pulled strings.”
“Impossible!”
Declan roared at Amara on the other end of the line, “Liar!”
Celeste knocked Declan on the head.
“Be nice to Mom. Don’t yell.”

Hurt, Declan glared at Celeste. He found her more
All these years, Declan had seen Isolde as his role model and made his way to success on his own.
Without the help from his parents, he succeeded, but Isolde failed. He felt deeply fooled.
At that moment, all the encouragement from Isolde became a joke to Declan.

Chapter 78 The Liar
Isolde turned out to be a liar.
Declan hated liars. To make things worse, he had trusted Isolde more than anyone.
Declan angrily pushed Celeste away. “Don’t tell me what to do, or I will make you sorry.”
He then shut the door behind him with a bang. Angered, Celeste thought that Declan was incorrigible and desperately needed discipling.
Celeste lay down on her bed for a rest. As for how to discipline Declan, she would think about it tomorrow.
It had been a long day for her.

This was the room next to Celeste’s.
Declan got a call from Conrad after the one with Amara,
“Out with it.”
Hearing Declan’s angry voice, Conrad asked, “Who provoked you?”
“The ugly newcomer!”
Conrad had learned from Declan that Celeste was a bad woman because she tried to boss Declan around soon after her
return.
Celeste had convinced the Huxley couple to side with her. Now, Declan couldn’t get his allowance unless Celeste was happy.
To make things worse, Celeste told her parents to threaten the Hudson couple because Declan was close with Conrad. The Hudson couple had to get Conrad’s bank cards frozen, so Conrad couldn’t help Declan.
In other words, Conrad got implicated, too.
Lately, Conrad was so poor that he had only one meal per day. He couldn’t help Declan at all even if he wanted to. Conrad asked curiously, “What did she do to you?”
“She ruined Isolde’s image!”
“What does that mean?”
Declan spent five minutes telling Conrad what had just happened.
From the other end of the line, Conrad said, “Well, I feel that she did nothing wrong. She just told the truth, didn’t she?”
Declan was mad because Conrad didn’t side with him. “But she ruined my good memory of Isolde.”
Conrad said in a serious tone, “Even so, she did nothing wrong. Look, you say that she is ugly.
“Since you can speak the truth, why couldn’t she?”
Well, what Conrad said made sense. “Never mind. Have you figured out how to help me get rid of her?” “I’ve thought about it for a long time. She may let you off if you pretend to be submissive.”
Didn’t Conrad tell Declan to take the orders from Celeste?
