Chapter 8 First Love
AceOfJo asked: [Cele, you’re about to graduate college, so how the hell did you get expelled? Are you really just giving up on your degree?]
The Healer quickly added: [Even without a degree, she is still super awesome!]
PocketBan, being more practical, said: [Cele’s dream is to be a doctor, but without a degree or a medical license, she can’t even hold a scalpel. So, yeah, that degree is kinda important. What are you going to do, Captain?]
‘Well, since I got kicked out of Kingston, I guess I’ll just apply to another school and keep studying: Celeste thought. She couldn’t keep hiding what she was really capable of, especially now that she was in her senior year. If she kept hiding. she might not even graduate.
Celeste: [Don’t worry, I’ll retake the exams and graduate. Everything’s fine, you guys don’t need to stress.]
PocketBan: [Hell yeah, Captain! With your skills, you could get into any school you want! Where are you? Wanna come out and drink to celebrate our win?]
Celeste: [I’m planning to check out Ravenshire University tomorrow, so I need to get some sleep. We can celebrate next time.]
PocketBan: [Why the sudden move to Ravenshire?]
Celeste: [I’m going back to my real parents‘ place. They live in Ravenshire, so I’ll probably be living there too. If you guys want to come, I can help you out.]
Three months ago, Celeste Sinclair had already told the team she found her real parents, so they weren’t surprised to hear it again.
AceOfJo said: [Coincidentally, we’re holding a fan event in Ravenshire soon. Maybe we can meet up with you, Cele. Are you coming?]
Celeste, not a fan of public events or crowds, replied, “I’ll skip it. You guys go ahead.”
AceOfJo: [If you don’t show up, your fans are going to be upset.]
But the fans already know what she was like. If she doesn’t show up, they would’t care.
Just then, a knock came at the door, interrupting her. She told her teammates in the chat they’d talk later and went to open the door.
Standing outside was Isolde, elegant and warm. She introduced herself, “Hey, Celeste. I’m your older sister, Isolde Huxley. Sorry I’m only just now coming over to say hi after you’ve been home for a few days.”
Isolde had a graceful and elegant demeanor. Every movement of hers was poised and gentle, radiating the charm of a well- bred lady.
In contrast, Celeste Sinclair was much more laid–back. Leaning casually against the door, she said with a hint of indifference, “If you’re too busy, you don’t have to bother coming.”
But Isolde knew if she didn’t show up, their parents would probably be upset, considering how hard they worked to find their biological daughter.
After all, as the substitute, she still had to behave well.
Isolde smiled, “No matter how busy I am, I still had to see you. Plus, Mom and Dad asked me to come over and said I should check your face under the mask.
“They think it’s time to get it fixed. You’ve been hiding behind that mask long enough.”
The accident that disfigured Celeste Sinclair wasn’t a secret to the Huxley family.
And since Isolde was a doctor, with her mentor being Wesley Paige, it made sense for her to help Celeste.
Isolde reached out to take Celeste’s mask off, but Celeste stepped back and raised her hand to stop her.
However, as Celeste raised her hand, Isolde noticed the bracelet on Celeste’s wrist. It was exactly the same as the one Marcus had drawn–a one–of–a–kind, the only one in the world.
There were rumors that this was the bracelet his life–saving benefactor, his “first love,” had worn.
Isolde froze, ‘Wait… Could this woman be Marcus’s ‘first love‘? No way, right?‘
If Celeste really was Marcus’s “first love,” then Isolde didn’t stand a chance. Not only was Celeste “the one,” but she was
also his fiancée.
If he found out that his first love was his fiancée, Celeste, he would definitely marry her.
Isolde thought. ‘But if he doesn’t cancel the engagement with Celeste, what the hell do I do? Just let that ugly freak take Marcus from me? No way. Marcus is mine…

She couldn’t just let go of Marcus. She had to stop Celeste from meeting him
‘But how the hell am I supposed to stop it? Isolde instinctively glanced at the bracelet on Celeste’s wrist
‘Wait a minute… I’ve got it! If I just destroy this bracelet, I can stop everything she thought
Because Marcus once said that when Celeste saved him all those years ago, her face was covered in dirt, so he couldn’t
make out her features.
But he remembered the bracelet.
So if she just destroyed it, Marcus wouldn’t be able to find Celeste anymore.
Isolde quickly snapped back to reality and smiled as she reached for her mask. “Hey, I’m a doctor so don’t worry. Just take off the mask so I can see your face, okay?”
However, Celeste wasn’t worried at all. She just didn’t want to take it off in front of Isolde.
Celeste grabbed Isolde’s wrist and roughly pushed her hand away, her voice cold and emotionless. “I get that you’re trying to help with my face, but I don’t need it.”
“It’s late, I’m going to rest. If you’re done saying what you need to, leave.”
With that, Celeste slammed the door in her face and went to her room to rest. Isolde stood there, fuming
‘She’s got no manners! Isolde thought. ‘She didn’t even let me finish, just slammed the door in my face. How the hell does Marcus keep thinking about someone like her, who’s clearly way below me?
Isolde took a deep breath to calm down and walked away from Celeste Sinclair’s room.
Now, she just needed to figure out how to get that bracelet off her wrist.
The next morning, Celeste woke up feeling refreshed, stretched, and got out of bed early.
After taking a quick shower and changing into something casual, she went downstairs to have breakfast with Amara, then got ready to head out.
Before she left, Amara called after her, “Celeste, where are you off to so early?”
“Just going out for a bit, Celeste replied.
Amara smiled and said, “Should I have Evan drive you?”
Celeste waved her hand and said, “Nah, I’ll drive myself.”
The Huxley family garage had plenty of cars, so Celeste casually picked a low–key one and drove off.
As she was approaching a traffic light, Celeste suddenly heard a familiar song playing.
She looked up and saw Chloe singing in a video on the big screen across the street.
‘Wait a second… Isn’t this the song I wrote? Celeste thought, her eyes widening in disbelief.
She had just finished it, but the sheet music had mysteriously disappeared. At first, she thought she had simply misplaced it.
But now, it was clear–the sheet wasn’t lost, it had been stolen.
‘Chloe… you bitch, Celeste muttered under her breath, fuming. ‘Not only do you act like a sweet little angel, but you also steal my stuff?‘
