Chapter 2
In the livestream, James is smiling now.
That smile – still devastatingly handsome, still making my heart skip despite everything.

But there’s something broken behind it, something that tears at me more than any chemotherapy ever could.
The viewers flood the chat with supportive messages:
“Don’t smile like that James, she’s not worth it!”
“You’re PERFECT to us, James. Her loss that she didn’t appreciate you!” “Who is this gold–digger? Someone find her social media!”
James hangs up abruptly.
His expression shifts to cold detachment as he turns to the host. “No regrets anymore. Only relief.”
The host nods sympathetically. “Life is all about filtering the right people. Some aren’t worth keeping in your heart.”
The chat explodes with agreement and occasional vulgar insults aimed at me. “And now,” the host pivots enthusiastically, “it’s Yasmine’s turn!”
“Of course,” Yasmine says with a perfect smile.
She takes out her phone and dials without hesitation.
A ringtone echoes through the studio.
It takes everyone a moment to realize she’s calling James, sitting right beside her. James looks at her, surprised.
Yasmine gestures for him to answer the call.
The livestream chat goes wild:
“OMG IS THIS HAPPENING?? MY SHIP IS SAILING!!”
“They’re PERFECT together! Please say yes, James!”
“I’ve been waiting for this since their chemistry test leaked online!”
James slowly answers the call.
“James,” Yasmine’s voice trembles, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I’ve
waited for you for so many years. From high school through college, into
Hollywood. From background extra to Oscar winner. Through your love for her until
now.”
Her voice carries both vulnerability and determination.
The livestream audience is beside themselves:
“SAY YES JAMES! YASMINE DESERVES YOU!”
“She’s been by his side this WHOLE TIME? That’s true love!”

“Forget that gold–digger and be with someone who actually cares about you!” James remains silent for what feels like forever.
Yasmine’s tears are now openly sliding down her cheeks, making her look even more beautiful.
“Okay,” James finally says.
The moment he agrees, Yasmine’s tears flow freely. Her smile could light up the darkest night.
The entire chat erupts in celebration.
I smile too, resigned acceptance washing over me.
But after the livestream ends, my phone receives a notification: a deposit of $100,000.
