Chapter 25
“This makes me want to puke. Wilson is absolute trash!”
“Mr. Perfect Husband was the biggest cheater of all. What a joke.”
“Didn’t some magazine call him ‘Husband of the Year‘? Great job, voters!”
Alston had built his empire partly on his image as the devoted spouse.
But social media giveth, it also taketh away.

With his reputation shattered, Wilson stock went into freefall, wiping billions from the company’s
value. Alston’s fortune took a massive hit!
Luckily, I’d finalized our divorce and asset split before posting the videos. My finances remained
untouched.
Even better, sympathetic followers started supporting my businesses in droves.
I’d only received a few small clothing companies in the divorce settlement, but with this new wave of support, my fashion brands began thriving.
“Queen behavior! Drop that trash and live your best life!”
“He had her uterus removed without telling her? That’s psycho! Buying everything she makes from
now on.”
“Don’t let that garbage bring you down. Better days coming!”
Reading these comments gave me strength when I needed it most. Though the shadow of my marriage still followed me, I knew time would eventually heal the wounds.
With money, youth, and freedom on my side, recovery was inevitable.
Shortly after, I began traveling the world.
Partly to avoid Alston’s stalking, but mostly to find myself again.

Chapter 25
“Hi, beauty I hear you’re going globetrotting. Need someone to carry your bags?”
Just before takeoff, Ives appeared at the gate, smiling at me with undisguised affection in his eyes.
“If you’re just looking for trip, great. But if this is your sneaky way of asking me out, I’m gonna have to pass.”
“I just got out of a nightmare marriage. My head’s a mess. Romance isn’t on my radar for a while. Hope you get that.”
My gentle brush–off didn’t faze him.
A
“I can handle that, Alani. I’ve got time. I missed my chance with you once. I don’t want to miss it
again.”
“However long it takes, I’m in.”
“Plus, I actually do want to travel. Don’t feel pressured–just two friends seeing the world.”
I couldn’t argue with his logic, so I agreed to let him tag along.
Maybe someday I’d believe in love again and give him a real chance.
Or maybe I’d stay cynical forever, never letting him past my walls.
But that was tomorrow’s problem.
Future headaches belonged to future me.
Today’s Alani just wanted to see what was waiting beyond the horizon.
