Chapter 8
A single sentence sent shockwaves through the gala.
“What’s happening? Wasn’t tonight about announcing the Wilson heir?”
“Where’d this lawyer come from? Is it true? Alani’s divorcing Alston?”
“I bet she doesn’t want family money going to adopted kids. She’s forcing him to choose between her
and the twins.”
“Couldn’t she handle this privately? Making a divorce scene in public is so embarrassing!”
“She probably tried privately and got nowhere. Better embarrassed than lose her fortune!”
The crowd buzzed with speculation, everyone offering their own theories.
Meanwhile, reporters surged forward like sharks scenting blood, cameras pointed at Alston, firing questions in rapid succession.
“Mr. Wilson, are you really divorcing?”
“Mr. Wilson, is this divorce about inheritance rights?”
“Mr. Wilson, why you choose to adopt rather than have your own children?”
Microphones pressed closer as questions grew more intrusive.
One reporter even asked point–blank: “Mr. Wilson, do you not have children with your wife because you’re impotent?”
Alston’s face darkened dangerously. He glared at the reporter with such venom that the man physically recoiled, as if Alston might tear him apart on the spot.
But this wasn’t the time to deal with rude reporters. His priority was damage control.
Alston took a deep breath and shouted, “Everyone, quiet!”
His commanding voice silenced the room instantly.

All eyes turned to him, waiting for his response.
Taking the microphone from his assistant, Alston announced firmly, “First, I’ll NEVER divorce Alani!”
“Alani is the only woman I’ve ever truly loved. She is my wife, and only she deserves to be my wife!”
“We will never divorce. Any rumors about our marriage ending are completely false!”
“I can promise you all this–our marriage will only end when one of us dies!”
His words sent fresh excitement rippling through the ballroom.
“Mr. Wilson really is truly London’s most devoted husband!”
“No wonder Alani can make such bold moves–she knows her husband adores her.”
“God, I wish my husband loved me half as much. I’d never stop smiling.”

Amid the admiring whispers, one reporter’s sharp question cut through: “Mr. Wilson, where is your
wife? And who’s the woman beside you? She looks so much like your adopted daughter. What’s your
relationship?”
“Looking closely, your adopted son bears a striking resemblance to you. Is he actually your
biological child? Please answer directly!”
