Chapter 10: The Confrontation
(Freya’s POV)
Aaron leaned closer, his towering frame casting a shadow over me that felt suffocating His golden eyes. flecked with wolfish intensity, bore into mine.
Every breath he took seemed to heat the room, the cedar and citrus scent of him filling my serves and making my heart pound in betrayal.
Bella stirred inside me, her instincts pulling her toward him no matter how much my national mind tested
“Tell me what’s going on,” Aaron demanded, his voice low and sharp. His words struck like a command
pressing against me and forcing me to meet his intense gaze.
I felt my walls falter. For a fleeting moment, I thought about telling him. The pressure was unbearable The
things I had tried so hard to bury in secret threatened to bubble to the surface.
The life growing inside me, the cub we’d created, the truth of that night I stood alone in the cold sam–all of it
clawed at me, begging to be spoken.
But before I could even consider the words, Caroline’s image flashed in my mind. He graceful figure E tenderness in Aaron’s eyes when he looked at her. That easy intimacy they shared

I refused to look another moment into his piercing eyes. Instead, I stared at my hands, focusing on the pale knuckles gripping the blanket like a lifeline.
“It’s not me?” he asked, his voice sharp, disbelieving. I heard the growl of Logan, his wolf, thick in his words. What do you mean it’s not me?”
I didn’t reply.
He took a step closer, and I felt his dominance sweep over me like an invisible force. “Is there someone who understands you better than I do?” His voice grew harder with each word, frustration creeping into the Alpha authority he wore like second skin.
When I stayed silent, Aaron’s patience finally snapped. He grabbed my shoulders firmly, shaking me slightly as his golden eyes turned molten with emotion. “Another Alpha, then? Or a Beta?! Tell me?”
His grip sent pain shooting through my shoulders, and I winced. “It hurts,” I hissed through gritted teeth, squirming to free myself. “Let go!”
His hands loosened slightly but didn’t leave my shoulders. Instead, he leaned closer, his jaw clenching. “Fine” he said, his voice rough. “Then explain. Who is it? And what about that report?”

My chest heaved with the effort of keeping myself composed. “I was just saying anything,” I added flatly, willing my voice to sound indifferent.
His gaze narrowed further, anger radiating off him like heat. “And the report?” he pressed, his tone laced with suspicion. “Amanda said she found a torn report while cleaning our quarters.”
My heartbeat picked up, pounding against my ribs. But I kept my face blank, feigning confusion. If I let slip even one hint of what I was hiding, he would never let it go. “A torn report?” My brow furrowed as I forced a neutral tone. “What report? Where?”
“It was torn to shreds but found in our room,” he clarified, his eyes not leaving my face for a second. “Isn’t it
yours?”
I shifted slightly under his unwavering gaze, trying to keep my breathing steady. There was no way to lie convincingly now. I decided to change my approach, offering as little detail as possible. “I remember now. It’s mine,” I said, my voice calm and collected.
Avoiding further eye contact, I turned back to my laptop, pretending to return to my work. “It was a medical report from the werewolf clinic. What about it?”
His Alpha presence filled the air, making the room feel smaller, heavier. “What kind of medical report?” he asked, his voice quiet but laced with barely restrained tension.
I forced a small shrug, keeping my eyes on the screen. “A routine wolf health examination report. Why?” “Do you think I’m stupid?” he spat, stepping even closer until the heavy scent of him made it impossible to ignore his dominance. “What kind of examination report needs to be torn up?”
His hand shot out again, this time grabbing my wrist. I tensed under his touch, Bella growling softly at the

His hand burned against my skin, the strength of his grip a reminder of his barely restrained power. I tugged lightly at his hold, but he didn’t let go.
My voice softened, and I met his piercing gaze, hoping to appeal to his reasoning. “I didn’t tear it up on purpose. It got rained on outside the Blue Moon Club,” I explained. “The writing was unclear, so I threw it
away.”
He scoffed, his golden eyes narrowing further. “You had to tear it up to throw it away?”
I sighed and held my ground. “Have you considered that maybe I didn’t tear it up at all?”
His head tilted slightly, the suspicion in his eyes momentarily replaced by confusion. “What?”
“It was raining heavily that day.” I kept my tone steady as I threaded each word carefully. “The report was already soaked and stuck to my clothes when I took it out. I had to peel it off piece by piece.”
I watched as his expression shifted, the sharpness in his features softening just slightly. Logan stirred behind his golden gaze, obviously sensing no lie in my words. For a moment, it felt like the storm between us might calm.

Aaron’s breath hitched audibly, and his eyes scanned my face like he was trying to read my mind. His wolfish intensity returned, and I could feel his focus sharpen on me with a force that made my skin prickle.
“What’s with that look?” I challenged, raising an eyebrow. “Are you afraid I’ll get pregnant and affect you and Caroline?”
His voice dropped dangerously low. “Are you pregnant?”
I shrugged, keeping my composure even as my heart thundered wildly. Every word was a calculated move,
each one designed to turn his questions back on him. “No,” I said bluntly. “Otherwise, I would have shown you
the report.”
Even though my voice was calm, my palm unconsciously shifted over my stomach protectively. If he noticed,
he didn’t acknowledge it.
“Given our childhood friendship,” I continued, tilting my head, “you’d probably ensure I was well taken care of … if I needed to terminate it, right?”
Instantly, his face twisted with anger, and Logan growled low in his chest. His eyes flashed dangerously, and his voice dripped with cold fury. “What are you saying?” he snapped. “You would terminate a pregnancy?!”
I held up a hand to diffuse the tension, though my heart ached to hear him speak the words. “It’s hypothetical, Aaron.”
But he didn’t let it go. He stepped even closer, his voice dropping to a rough growl. “What if it wasn’t?”
I frowned at the intense look in his eyes. “What do you mean, ‘what if it wasn’t?”
His gaze was piercing, trapping me in place like prey caught under a predator’s claws. “What if you really were carrying my cub?” he asked softly, his voice laced with something unreadable. “Would you terminate it?”
My chest tightened, and Bella whimpered within me. The pain and longing in her voice mirrored my own, but I swallowed hard, forcing the words out. They felt like sharp knives cutting through me. “I suppose so,” I said flatly, trying to sound unaffected.
Aaron’s expression darkened with a mix of emotions, though he said nothing.
I took a deep breath, sealing the wound I’d just inflicted on myself. “If I don’t,” I added bitterly, my voice softer now, “what about you and Caroline?”
(Aaron’s POV)
Her words froze me in place. For a moment, everything inside me went still. Logan, who moments ago had been roaring with protective rage, fell silent like a wounded creature.
I stared at Freya. My eyes traced the pale lines of her face, the way she barely held herself together. Even in her illness, even with the defiance and coldness in her words, she was breathtaking.
Something twisted sharply in my chest. Logan howled softly, but I suppressed him.
The emotions raging inside me–anger, confusion, longing–bled away in an instant, leaving only cold resolve.
I stood and straightened, keeping my voice calm and distant.
“You don’t have to go to the pack office today. Rest well.”

I turned and left our quarters, my face grim. Freya was right. Even if she were carrying my cub, she could only
terminate it.
I couldn’t, and wouldn’t, betray Caroline. I owed her my life and my loyalty for saving me from that rival pack
attack years ago.
