Chapter 100: The Fake Wife.
“What do you mean, not her? Do you know her?” Ivy asked, but it was too late. Rita had entered before Theresa reached them.
“Hey Theresa said, stepping closer. “I thought I saw your cousin right now.”
“Yes,” Ivy replied with a tight smile. She racked her brain, searching for something reasonable to tell Theresa She couldn’t tell her that Rita ran inside because of her “She has work.”
Theresa’s brow arched. “What sort of work made her suddenly busy?”
Ivy shrugged, moving away from the door. “I have no idea, I guess I’ll see her another time”
Theresa nodded. “Alright then.”
Ivy’s head was spinning with new questions. What was Rita hiding? And what does Theresa have to do with it now?
She turned to Theresa. “So where are you now?” she asked, changing the topic
“Eagleheart, for now, Theresa replied. “I am still around. I should be leaving tonight or tomorrow”
“Alright then” Ivy smiled. “Guess we’ll see tomorrow?”
“Sure,” Theresa replied. She walked over and gave her a hug. “Thank you Ivy for today.”
“You’re welcome, T.” Ivy smiled.
Theresa straightened up and walked to her car. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Alright, bye,” Ivy waved at her.
She waited until Theresa had driven away, before returning to Rita’s house. She needed to know how Rita knew Theresa. and why she had reacted the way she did.
“Rita!” Ivy said, knocking the door, But there was no response. “Rita, please!”
Still, Rita didn’t answer, Ivy sighed as she finally gave up. She will try again tomorrow.
She walked back to the car and slid inside. “Take me to my office, please,” she told Bud, who nodded and drove.
Ivy leaned back on the couch as she tried to process her feelings. Her thoughts drifted to Theresa’s marriage, and her heart dropped. She had gone through the same thing with Mason, and she hoped Theresa’s marriage had a different outcome.
Her phone buzzed pulling her out of her thoughts. She picked up. “Hey, Geo.”
“Hey, Ivy. How are you?” Geoffrey asked, his voice small like he was tired.
“I’m good. How are you? How’s Dad?” she asked
“He’s still in the hospital, but he’s getting better,” Geo replied.
She smiled. “Great. I wish him a quicker recovery. How are you doing? How’s the preparation for school?”
“I haven’t prepared at all, Ivy Geo admitted. “The whole back and forth to the hospital has kept me busy, and Cole is not helping the issue at all.”
Geoffrey sounded like he was angry and that made Ivy confused. “What happened?”
Geoffrey sighed. “I don’t know, since Cole got back from Canada, he has been acting weird towards your Dad.” “Acting weird? How?”
“I don’t know how to put it into words. It’s just weird. Cole is not so calm like usual, and your Dad is harsher than before The dynamics are so uncomfortable for me.”
So there was a problem in paradise? Ivy wondered what caused that. She knew she shouldn’t rejoice, but a tiny line of joy spilled into her chest. She killed it almost immediately, because of Geoffrey.
“Geo,” Ivy said softly. “You have to turn off the voices. You can’t make their issues affect your life. Move past it.”
“But it is not easy,” Geo argued.
“Of course, it isn’t, but you have to try. Remember you’re starting your own life, away from them. You have to your own person, make your own decisions, and that starts now.”
She heard him exhale deeply before he spoke.
“Good” she said. As much as she was curious ask Geo. “When do you intend to go?”

between Cole and Patrick, she didn’t want to
“I don’t know yet. Soon though, he said, and then his voice dropped into a whisper. “I think I’m ready.”
Ivy’s brow arched even though he couldn’t see that. “Ready? For what?”

“To-” his voice dropped even lower, “find my parents and my living family. But I don’t know how to go about that.”
She racked her brain Uhmm, I will make enquiries and get back to you
“Oh, Ivy Thank you so much! Geo exclaimed, his voice filled with joy.
She laughed. “You’re welcome.”
“I would be expecting your call. Thank you, bye”
“Bye, Geo,” she said, ending the call.
It was when she placed the phone inside her bag that she realized they had reached her new building.
“Oh, we are” she said
“Yes ma’am, I didn’t want to disturb your call, Bud answered.
“Thank you, Bud, she smiled as she stepped out of the car
There were three small cars and a big truck parked on the premises, and it made her heart leap with joy. Work was now in progress, it felt good to know that
Before entering, she quickly texted Silas.
“Hey, do you know anyone, or organization, who can help find someone?”
Silas replied immediately. “Sure. Who are we looking for?”
“Somebody needs to find his parents.” She replied.
“Who? Rita?” Silas replied.
Ivy paused. She didn’t know how to explain her relationship with
“I will explain when I get home.” She texted instead.
“Alright then. I will have their details ready by then.” He replied.
“Thank you.” She texted.
“See you later, Babe.”
h Geo on text.
Heat climbed on her cheeks as she made her way inside. Despite the fact that he had called her babe several times, she still wasn’t used to it.
She smelled paint before she saw the wood shavings on the floor. Someone was hammering so loudly, another person was barking out orders.
She walked in, looking around the mess. They were far from done, but she could see the vision, and it filled her with happiness.
A man in dirty jeans and a brown shirt approached her. “Hello, ma’am.”
It took Ivy a minute to know who it was. “Mr. New.”
“Hi” he smiled. The helmet and safety goggles he had on made it hard to quickly recognize him. “We have started working.”
“I can see that,” she replied, glancing around the room. “I only came to see how it looks. Well–done.”
“Thank you,” Tim replied.
She nodded. “I’m leaving now. Don’t let me get in your way. Bye.” She waved and turned towards the door.
Her heart was pumping with so much excitement and she couldn’t wait to express them with Silas. As she made her way to the car, a thought crossed her mind.
“Hey Bud,” she said as she entered. “Can you take me to the nearest supermarket?”
“Sure, ma’am,” Bud replied, starting the engine.
As she sank into the car, she bit her lip to steady her excitement. She was happy and she was going to show Silas. She would bring home a bottle of exotic wine and fuck the hell out of him.
Her legs tightened at the thought and she chuckled out loud. Later, Bud stopped at a supermarket and Ivy got the most expensive bottle. Soon, they were back on the road.
When they got home, she dashed upstairs to her room.
“Silas,” she called as she entered, but was surprised to see it empty.
He was probably in his room, since he wasn’t going out, so she made her way there.
Ivy pushed his door and was pleased to find it open.
“Silas, you won’t believe.” she trailed off
Someone–a woman with blonde hair–was lying on Silas’s bed.
Ivy stepped closer, frowning “Who are you?”
The lady humed lazily on the bed, as if she had every right to be there
“Ah, you must be the fake wife she sneered it’s lovely to meet you I ngn Kimberly, but you can call me Kim”
