Chapter 107. Dedication or Feelings?
Chapter 107: Dedication or Feelings?
“Mr Stone?”
Silas jolted out of sleep, stretching as he uncurled from the small chair he was sleeping in He lifted his head and saw that the doctor was standing in front of him.
“Hey, Doctor How was it?” Silas asked, standing up
“The surgery was successful, the doctor announced with a smile.
“Oh thank God!” Rosie exclaimed, giving Silas a hug.
Silas still found it weird that when he brought Kim to the hospital, Rosie had been there waiting. He knew they used to be friends, he just didn’t know they were still talking.
He had wanted to just drop Kim off and go back to work, but Rosie’s words about what the media might say if they found out Kim had almost lost both legs in his house got to him.
He knew Kim quite well–she could go public and tell everyone everything, ruining the plan. So he stayed
“Now, it’s all about recovery,” the doctor said. “She needs to be in bed for the next few weeks so she can heal properly” Then he turned to Silas. “Give your wife time to rest, please.*
Silas felt a small heat rise on his cheeks. “She’s not my wife.”
“Oh I’m sorry,” the doctor apologized. “Your girlfriend then.”
He shook his head. “She is not…” but he trailed off.
“He will take care of her,” Rosie said. “Thank you so much, Dr Albert.”
The doctor nodded, extending his hand to Silas. “You’re welcome.”
“Thanks Doc,” Silas said.
“Alright then, take care,” Dr Albert said and left.
Silas returned to the small chair, not knowing how to handle his feelings. He was scared and angry that Kim had injured herself when she should have been out of his house and out of his life.
“Thank you, Silas,” Rosie said, rubbing her hand on his thigh, her eyes gleaming with tears.
Silas didn’t know which part she was thanking him for, but he smiled. “You’re welcome.”
As if she had heard his thoughts, she explained, “Thank you for doing this for Thomas. I don’t know what we’d do if Kim or someone in your house went public about your marriage. That would devastate Thomas.”
Silas’s heart tightened as he pulled her closer. “Don’t worry. Nobody is going to find out,” he assured her.
“It’s not that I don’t trust Kim,” Rosie said, “but it’s been a while since we saw each other, and I..” she trailed off, settling into
Silas’s arms.
He held her tightly, rocking her to comfort her. “Don’t worry about it.”
Rosie straightened up, her eyes sharp. “Do you think Thomas would be angry that I brought Kim to our doctor, Albert?”
Silas found it odd that she did, but the fear in her eyes and the shake in her voice kept him from saying so.
Instead, he softened his tone. “No, no,” he said nonchalantly, hoping to ease her off. “I don’t think he’ll be angry. He knows we’re looking out for him. He can’t be mad at that.”
Rosie tilted her head. “You think so?”
“I know so,” Silas said with a smile.
Rosie laughed as she sat upright. “Thank you. You’re such a gentleman, and Ivy is such a lucky woman.”
Ivy!
Silas stood up abruptly as he remembered. He glanced at his wristwatch and gasped. He had been sitting in the hospital for hours, no wonder he fell asleep. He searched his pocket for his phone but couldn’t find it.
“Shit,” he cursed.
“What’s wrong?” Rosie asked, standing up as well.
“I can’t find my phone,” he said, his heart pounding faster.
“Did you have it with you earlier? Let me call the line,” Rosie said, took her phone and dialed his number.
Silas bent over the chair, looking to see if the phone had fallen, but he found nothing.
“It’s ringing, but I can’t hear it anywhere,” Rosie said, but she was still dialing the number.

Chapter 107 Destination or feelinge
After a while Sitas gave up. “I probably left it in the car
“Probably Rosie agreed.
He groaned as he realized he had spent almost all day waiting here. He had wanted to surprise Ivy with a gown for dinner but seeing how late it was already, he doubted there would be a dinner at aft
“I have to go now,” he told Rosie
“Okay, let me call Doctor Albert, Rosie said.
Silas’s brow furrowed with confusion. “Call the doctor? For what?”
“For Kim of course, are you not taking her home?” Rosie asked, her tone raising in confusion.
He blinked. “Taking her home for what? This is the hospital, how do I treat her?
A look of terror flashed on Rosie’s face as she stepped forward, her voice dropping to a whisper. “Oh Silas, I thought you were going to take her home to shield the whole event from the media”
The fear in her eyes made his own heart pound with fear. “I didn’t…” he stuttered
“Oh God, Rosie groaned, burying her face in her palm. “I guess we have to debunk in advance. God, I brought her to Doctor Albert. What… how do I say I wasn’t involved?”
“Hey hey,” Silas said softly, pulling her into a hug. “Calm down okay. You’re spiraling.”
Rosie exhaled and nodded. “Okay.”
“Don’t worry I’ll take her home,” he said and felt her relax in his arms. “The media won’t find out.”
“Oh thank you, Si, Rosie said, sounding relieved. “I guess Doctor Albert has to come and treat her at home.”
“I guess,” Silas said.
Rosie sighed as she moved away from his embrace. “Let’s go find Doctor Albert,” she said with a smile.
Silas sighed and followed Rosie to the reception area. His mind raced with emotions, especially over how Ivy would feel when she realized Kim was coming back to his house. It was difficult to choose between his dedication to protecting Thomas and his feelings for Ivy.
A nurse took them to Doctor Albert’s office and shortly after, they wheeled Kim out of the hospital and into an ambulance which followed Silas’s car home.
Kim was placed in his room while he ran over to Ivy’s room looking for her. Silas paused at Ivy’s door, his heart breaking when he saw his luggages outside.
She had thrown him out of her room and that told him everything. Still he knocked, willing to beg her, to make her understand.
“Ivy, I’m sorry,” he said. “Let me explain please.” He knocked and waited before knocking again. “Ivy? Please. Just open the door, let’s talk.”
He knocked and pleaded, waiting outside for over five minutes, but she didn’t respond. He was ready to sleep by her door till she answered–until Monica approached.
“Mr. Stone, your brother is on the line,” she said, extending her phone.
Silas’s senses sharpened as he took the phone. What was so important that Thomas had to call him on Monica’s phone?
“Hey bro,” he answered cautiously.
“I am in a big mess, Si!” Thomas exclaimed.
Silas’s heart sank. “What is it? What happened?”
Thomas exhaled. “You remember the first building I got for Ivy?”
“Yes,” Silas replied urgently.
“Well, the owner is Patricia Josh, but she is actually Patricia Clark. Her ex, Frank Clark is suing her for fraud,” Thomas explained, sounding frantic.
Confusion raced through Silas as he began to pace. “I don’t understand anything, Thomas. I’m confused.”
“It’s a long story,” Thomas said. “But in short, Patricia illegally took ownership of Billy’s properties–and I was the one v. transferred the lands to her.”
Silas’s stomach tightened. “Oh my God, Thomas, this is bad.”
“And now Billy’s brother is coming after me. He’s suing me, Si. They think I helped her. They’re calling me a fraud.”
