Theresa lay on the bed as well. “How are you feeling? Pissed? Sad? Angry?
“All of them. But they are all directed to different people.”
“I hope I’m not among them, Theresa teased.
Ivy chuckled. “Of course not.”
“Good, so you have-”
Theresa was interrupted by a knock on the door. She sat upright and said, “Come in.”
Her hefty bodyguard popped his head in, his forehead creased in worry. “Ma’am, you need to come see this”
“See what?” Theresa asked but she was already on her feet.
“Your husb… Mr As… he’s downstairs,” the bodyguard stuttered.
“Wilson is here?” Theresa asked, her voice rising with shock.
“What?” Ivy gasped, springing to her feet as well.
“Yes ma’am,” the bodyguard said, nodding quickly. “But so is that gentleman… that came…”
“Hector!” Theresa shouted and dashed out of the room.
Ivy quickly took off her heels and followed Theresa. Downstairs, in Theresa’s private garage, Ivy saw as Hector tugged Wills shirt.
“Hector!” Theresa shouted, rushing to them. “Stop!”
“I wasn’t doing anything,” Hector said, pushing Wills away and making him land on his butt.
“Don’t believe him!” Wills protested. “He attacked me.”
Ivy watched as Theresa shook her head and turned to Wills. “What are you even doing here? I told not to come back.”
“Baby,” Wills said, staggering as he struggled to stand up. “Don’t listen to him.”
“I asked you a question!” Theresa snapped.
“I came to see you,” Wills replied.
“No, he was trying to sneak in. I caught him,” Hector countered.
Theresa groaned. “You have to leave. I already paid you, the divorce-”
“I don’t care,” Wills said weakly. He tried to get closer to Theresa but Hector stopped him. “Get off me,” he said to Hector, staggering again. He faced Theresa, his eyes soft. “I was a fool, baby. Forgive me.”
Theresa stepped forward, frowning. “Why didn’t you think about that before starting a new family?”
Ivy’s stomach churned as she remembered Rita and Ryan.
“Why don’t you go meet them now?” Theresa added the

Ivy saw the madness in Theresa’s eyes as she turned to her bodyguard. “Get him out of here!”
The bodyguard immediately went to Wills and dragged him away.
“Please, baby!” Wills called, but Hector had already taken Theresa inside.

by stood still, taken aback by the whole situation. She only left when the bodyguard returned. When she walked inside, she met Hector and Theresa cuddling together on the couch.
Ivy blushed at the sight. I will just leave you two.”
And before Theresa could say anything, she left and returned to the guest room.
Ivy sighed as she got out of the dress and went to take a shower. She was trying so hard not to think about Silas and Kim, but each time she shoved the thought away, it came right up again.
When she returned to the room, she realized her phone was ringing. Shehalf expected it to be Silas, but she was slightly disappointed when she saw that it was Aunt May calling, and fear followed.
Hello Aunt May, Ivy said softly.
“Hey my sweet girl, Aunt May said, her voice soft. “Congratulations again.”
“Thank you Aunt May.”
“Uhr… there has been a little issue, Ivy.”
Ivy’s heart immediately pounded. “What is it? What happened?”
“It’s… Ryan. He has been rushed to the hospital,” May said, “although it’s nothing serious-”
But Ivy didn’t hear that part. “Give me the address, I’m on my way.”
Aunt May gave it to her and Ivy hung up. She changed into one of Theresa’s gowns and shoes, then made her way out of
the room.
“Theresa-” Ivy paused when she realized Hector and Theresa were no longer in the living room.
She went outside and met Theresa’s bodyguard. “Has Hector left?”
“No malam,” the bodyguard replied.
A small smile appeared on her lips before she nodded. “Alright.”
She knew what Hector and Theresa were up to and she decided not to disturb them. She took out her phone and booked a ride to the hospital.
Twenty minutes later, the cab arrived and shortly after she was in the hospital. She was directed to the children’s ward where she met Rita sitting outside a room.
“Ivy,” Rita called when she saw her.
“Hey, Ivy walked over and hugged Rita. “How are you? How’s Ryan?”
“He’s good,” Rita said, then her brow lifted. “How did you know we’re here?”
“Your mother called me,” Ivy replied. “Is Ryan doing okay? What happened?”
“It’s nothing serious, Rita said. “It’s just a normal occurrence which is why I’m surprised Mom called you.”
Before Ivy could speak, May appeared from down the hall.
“Ivy, dear,” May said, walking over to them.
“Why did you call her, mom? Ryan is good,” Rita said.
May pursed her lips. “I had to bring her here, I’m sorry.”
Ivy’s heart fluttered at the look on May’s face. “What have you done?”
“He wanted to see you. He’s ashamed of himself and needs your help,” May said.
Ivy blinked. “Who?”
“Don’t get mad, Ivy, but I’m only looking out for this family. I hate to see everyone so apart,” May said, stepping closer. ” Since Rita and Ryan are here now, it’s only normal to reunite everyone.”
Ivy’s surprise deepened. “I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”
May bit her lips before turning her head. “Pat.”
Ivy groaned as her father walked over to them, her fist clenching.
“I know you’re mad, but please listen to him,” May pleaded and gestured to Rita. “Let’s leave them.”
Ivy gritted her teeth as May and Rita left, leaving her to face her father alone.
Patrick moved closer, a smile on his face. “How are you? Why didn’t you reply to my texts?”
“What do you want?” Ivy asked, folding her arms.
“I just want to speak to my daughter,” Patrick replied.
Ivy scoffed, dropping her hand. “Your daughter? The one you disowned publicly or what?”

“Ah, come on, Ivy. That’s all in the past now, he said, waving his hand.
Anger surged through Ivy. “In the past? You literally shouted at me two days ago.”
“Still in the past, Patrick said warmly.
Ivy couldn’t believe the way he just wanted to walk over all the things he had done to her. She was mad at him, still she wanted to hear what he had to say.
“What do you want?” she asked again.
“Can I sit?” he asked, already going to the chair Rita left. “You know, since my illness, I haven’t been hundred percent fit.”
Ivy arched her brow. “Are you seeking pity from me? Cause if you are, you’ll get nothing.”
Patrick placed his hand on his thighs. “Can we not fight please? I am getting really old.”
Ivy huffed, surprised that he was really playing all the pity cards. Still, she was curious.
“Start talking, please.”
“Firstly, congratulations on your company, I didn’t think you’d make it this far.”
Ivy blinked. “Was that supposed to be a compliment?”
“No, it’s a fact. I’m just being honest,” Patrick shrugged.
Ivy shook her head, she had heard enough already. “I’m leaving.”
“Wait! Don’t go yet,” Patrick said, standing up. “I want you to come to the restaurant and take some pictures. We can really use your fame right now.”
Ivy laughed bitterly. “Of course, you’ve come to take glory for something you didn’t work for, something you detest.”
“It’s all in the past, let bygones be bygones.”
Ivy’s heart tightened with anger but she kept her voice steady. “Have a goodnight, she said and turned towards the exit.
“Ivy! Ivy!” He called but she didn’t respond.
When Ivy got outside the hospital, her breath hitched and pain coursed through her.
Her father didn’t acknowledge her victory, he just wanted to use her.
She bit her lips as reality sank in. Despite everything, she just needed one person.
She pulled out her phone, finally giving in to the feeling, and called Silas.
“Hey Silas, please come pick me up.”
Then she gave him the hospital address.
