Chapter 138: The DNA Test.
Ivy released a dry chuckle as she sprang out of the bed. She shook her head in disbelief.
“I… don’t understand you, Detective Spence,” she said, hearing the panic in her voice.
Of everything that had happened all day, this took the cake.
“Oh,” Detective Spence sighed. “You didn’t know, I’m sorry to have dumped that on you, ma’am.”
“I… think there’s a mistake here, detective. You’re probably seeing the results of the adoption process. It can’t be, Ivy said.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want Geo as a brother, he was already a brother to her.
The unacceptable part that baffled her the most was how her father had been able to keep the secret for ten years!
They all knew Geo and Patrick looked alike, but everyone thought it was because Geo had been around Patrick for years.
Now hearing Detective Spence say this, she couldn’t believe it.
“My results are a hundred percent correct, but if you are still having doubts, which is normal, I could run a DNA test with yours and Geo’s sample,” Detective Spence said, sounding very certain. “I already have Geoffrey’s, I can get yours and then have the result by morning.”
Ivy bit her lips, confusion racing through her. She badly wanted to find the truth, yet she wasn’t sure she’d be ready for it.
“Just to be sure,” Detective Spence said, encouraging her.
“Okay. Fine,” she said, giving in to his suggestion.
“Alright ma’am. I will be at your house at fifteen,” Detective Spence said and hung up.
Ivy ran a hand through her hair, her body shaking with fatigue. The day was just… great.
She crossed to the bed and sank into it. Her head was spinning with questions.
Was that correct?
Did her father know?
Was that why he didn’t want Geo finding out?
She was curious and shocked.
She stood up from the bed and forced herself to the bathroom. She quickly took a shower, changed into a more comfortable gown and sat on the bed waiting for Detective Spence’s call.
After five minutes, out of boredom and exhaustion, she made her way downstairs to grab something to eat.
When she got to the foot of the stairs, she saw Silas coming and her stomach twisted as his words flooded her mind.
Silas didn’t even look at her, he just went about his business. The action hurt but she knew she couldn’t blame him. He was in love with her, and she was still fighting her feelings, even though her body says otherwise every time he touched her.
Ivy bit her lip as her cheeks burned with emotion, but she shook them off again, determined not to think about anything.
She made her way to the kitchen and met Bethany and Monica laughing and sharing a drink.
“Ivy!” Monica said cheerfully. “Oh, come come.”
“Hey guys,” Ivy greeted them as she approached them. “What are you up to?”
“Just catching up,” Bethany said, bringing her glass to her mouth.
“Congratulations on your opening, how was it?” Monica asked.
Ivy sighed, analyzing the day in her head. “Good,” she said, finding no other words to describe it.
“You sure look like you had fun,” Bethany said. “Have you had dinner?”
“No,” Ivy replied, “that’s why I’m here.”
“Well, you’re in luck, I have some remaining batches of cherry pie,” Bethany said, moving to the refrigerator. “How many dear?” she asked, bringing out one plate of the pie. “Two? Three?”
“One is fine,” Ivy said with a smile. “That’s even if I can finish it.
“You need to force yourself to eat,” Monica said “You’re a skin and bon
Ivy laughed, “I should-”

She was interrupted by the ring of her phone. She reached for it and saw that Detective Spence was calling.
“Hello Detective.”
“Ms Stone, I’m in your living room ma’am,” Detective Spence said.

“I’m coming,” she said and then hung up. She turned to the women. “Thank you for the pie. See you tomorrow.”
“Sweet dreams,” they chorused as she took the pie and went to the living room.
When Ivy met the detective, she was surprised to see that he was still a young man. She had always imagined him being oldish.
“Hello Detective,” she greeted.
“Hello, ma’am,” he said, then his eyes went to the pie. “I hope you haven’t had the pie yet.”
“Not yet. Is there an issue?”
“Not really,” he said as he lay down his briefcase on the table. “It’s just that I will be doing a buccal swab for the DNA test, and I’ll prefer it if you haven’t had food in your mouth, thirty minutes before now. That’s all.”
“Oh, I haven’t taken it at all, or anything,” Ivy said.
“Alright then. Please have your seat, ma’am.” Detective Spence gestured to the couch
Soon as Ivy sat down, the nerves she thought she had under control all came racing out. She clenched her fists, trying to control them as she opened her mouth.
Detective Spence swiped a swab inside her mouth for a while before he placed it in a small container he had on his gloved hand.
“All done,” he said, removing the glove. “I will have the result in the morning. But in the meantime, you can go through my findings.” Detective Spence bent and brought out a file from his briefcase.
“Thank you,” she whispered as she took the file.
“So,” he straightened up. “See you tomorrow ma’am.”
“Goodnight Detective, thank you.”
Once he left, Ivy pushed the file away and dug into the pie. “Not today,” she said.
She was going to bury it with the rest of her emotions.
She finished the pie, and out of stress she ate another piece before going to bed. In her room, she turned all night before fatigue finally drove her to sleep.
But the next morning, nothing was better, except that she slept well.
All the thoughts she didn’t want to touch, came crashing down. She laid in bed, feeling everything.
When the moment passed, she stood up and walked to the file Detective Spence gave her last night. She sat on the bed, ready to digest everything.
As she flipped through the pages, she pounded. Geo was Patrick Scott and Annabelle Waves‘ son.
Ivy’s stomach sank as she checked out Annabelle’s picture. She looked pretty and young. She had died of cancer when Geo was nine.
Ivy bit her lip, taking in everything.
Patrick had cheated during the marriage.
Did her mother know all these before her death?
Thinking about Lauren filled Ivy with anger and she stood up, determined to get answers. She refreshed up, and quickly got out of the house.
She met Bud outside. “Good morning, Bud. Please drive me to my father’s house.”
Bud heard the urgency in her voice and immediately obeyed. Shortly after, they were on their way.
Ivy called Detective Spence, her heart flipped with fear as she waited for him to pick up.
“Hello ma’am, I’m on my way with the result,” Detective Spence said, going straight to the point.
“I’m not home at the moment detective, good morning. But I would love for you to tell me the result.”
Ivy held her breath as she waited for Detective Spence to speak.
“It’s a match, ma’am. Geoffrey is your half brother,” he said.
Ivy clenched her fists tightly, anger rising in her chest. Still, she kept her voice calm. “Thank you detective. I will call you later,” she said and hung up.
Even though the file had detailed information about the situation, Ivy still didn’t want to believe it.
Geo was her blood! And her father had lied to all of them.
“We’re here ma’am,” Bud said, pulling her out of her thoughts and stopping in front of the big gate.
“Thank you, Bud,” Ivy said as she stepped out of the car.

She stomped inside, her anger boosting her confidence. When she reached her father’s office, she didn’t bother knocking. she just barged in.
Cole was seated opposite her father as they looked like they were busy.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Patrick snapped, lifting his head. “You could have knocked.”
“When will you tell us that Geo is your son?” Ivy asked, her voice rising.
“But he is my son,” Patrick said with a smirk. “If you’re here for the photoshoot, I suggest you come back-”
Ivy stepped forward and slammed the file on his table. “I meant your biological soh, and don’t play games.”
Cole stood up, confusion all over his eyes.
“Are you insane, Ivy?” Patrick asked, anger flashing in his eyes.
She shook her head, surprised that he was denying it. “Who is Annabelle Waves?”
Patrick’s anger quickly changed into surprise. “What…”
Ivy stepped forward, frowning. “She’s Geo’s mother, right?”
Before Patrick could speak, Cole spoke, his voice filled witg pain. “Mom knew.”
Ivy turned to him, her stomach knotted. “What?”
“Mom knew about Geo,” Cole said, then turned to his father. “You made her depressed! You killed our mot
