Chapter 141: The Latest News On Thomas Stone.
“What?” Ivy asked, her mouth opened.
Despite Ivy’s steady expression, Silas could hear the shock in her voice.
Silas’s stomach turned as he ran a hand through his hair. He paced around the room, his mind racing with what to do next.
“What are you going to do?” Ivy asked, her eyes softening with concern.
“I don’t know,” he admitted, his heart pounding as he continued to pace.
“Was that Thomas who called you?”
“Yes,” he replied, his lips pursing as he remembered the terror in Thomas’s voice.
They had just celebrated the end of one case, only to be thrown into something else.
“Where is he? What can we do?” Ivy asked frantically, her tone rising with more worry.
Silas groaned. How was he supposed to tell her that Thomas was already whisked off by the authorities?
“Say something, Silas,” Ivy pleaded, snapping him into action.
“I… will call Wade,” he said, reaching for his phone. He dialed Wade’s number and waited for it to be answered.
“Hello, Silas,” Wade said, his voice was hasty.
“Thomas just called me, he said-”
“Yes, he has been taken away from his home,” Wade said, interrupting him. “I am just heading over there.”
Silas stopped pacing, his voice shaking slightly. “What really is the problem?” he asked. From the corner of his eyes, he saw Ivy’s forehead crease into a frown.
“Well, Evan Graves has come forward to say Thomas bribed him for the Crystal Residences. Apparently he had enough proof to back up his claim,” Wade explained.
Silas groaned again, tapping his head in frustration. He took a breath before asking, “Is this true? Is this even possible?”
“I don’t know. I haven’t checked it out,” Wade replied, his tone becoming serious. “When I get there, I will confirm everything and get back to you.”
He clenched his fist, his frustration increasing. “That person is a liar. Thomas is innocent.”
Wade sighed. “I can’t confirm that yet, but with substantial evidence I-”
But Silas zoned out as Wade ranted on, explaining more legal jargons. He rubbed his face, disbelief coursing through him.
His brother was innocent, he knew that.
“Are you there, Silas?”
“What? Yeah.” Wade’s voice snapped him out of thought. “Thank you Wade, let me know how it goes.”
“Alright, bye,” Wade said and hung up.
“What is the update?” Ivy asked, worry written all over her face.
Silas sighed, slumping into the couch. His earlier excitement was gone, replaced by worry. He could feel exhaustion forming in his bones.
“I don’t even know how to explain,” he replied to Ivy with a sigh.
She sat beside him, giving his hand a small squeeze. “I’m so sorry, Silas.”
He nodded, planting a smile on his face.
“Is Thomas home or has he been taken away?” Ivy asked softly.
“He’s gone,” he replied, his chest tightening with more pain.
“To where?”
He had no idea and Ivy’s question brought him to his feet. He couldn’t just sit at home and worry, he had to find out what the issue was and get solutions.
“I’m going to Thomas’s house,” he said. That was one place to start from.
Ivy got to her feet as well. “I’m coming with you.”
“Okay,” he agreed as he took his phone and together, they went to find Bud.
“Drive us to Thomas’s house, please,” Silas told Bud when they met him outside. He and Ivy entered his car.
The journey was quiet as his mind struggled to stay still, racing with so many thoughts. But the moment they turned into Thomas’s street, his stomach dropped.

Ivy gasped “What the heft?”
The road had been blocked with possibly every reporter in the country. They all had their cameras and mics, feeding the whole world the latest news on Thomas Stone.
“What should I do sir? Bud asked, the confusion in his voice obvious.
“Should we turn back? Take a back route if any?” Ivy suggested, her eyes darting around.
But before Silas could make a decision, some of the reporters had spotted his car. They approached them and in an instant, the car was covered with reporters.
They tapped his window, asking questions he couldn’t hear, tapping, taking pictures, recording everything.
Silas raised his hand to cover his face from all the flashes. “Go, go” he ordered Bud
Ivy stiffened beside him, pressing herself into his arms as if seeking his protection. He embraced her, pulling her tighter as Bud slowly drove out of the crowd.
When Thomas’s gate opened, Bud zoomed into the premises.
“That was crazy,” Ivy whispered as she straightened up. Her cheeks were pink and Silas was certain it was because of his touch and not the embarrassment.
“It’s not over yet,” Bud told them. “Once we get out of the car, we have to dash inside so they don’t get anything.”
“Alright,” Silas said and then turned to Ivy. “Ready?” he asked, taking her hand.
Her blush deepened and she nodded without saying anything.
Silas held Ivy tightly as he opened the car door. As soon as they got down, questions filled the air.
“Say something about your brother’s case.”
“Is this correct, Silas Stone?”
“Tell us why Thomas did this?”
“Ivy, what do you have to say about your brother–in–law?”
Silas ignored all of them as he and Ivy entered the house. Once they were in, he sighed with relief.
“That was crazy,” Ivy said, placing a hand on her chest.
“Silas!” Rosie called as she entered the living room, running up to him.
He hugged her, standing his ground so her weight wouldn’t take them to the floor. Rosie was hysterical with tears, her face was swollen, her eyes were red and she was shivering with each tear that dropped to her cheeks.
“Where is Thomas?” Silas asked, stroking her head gently.
“He… is gone,” Rosie stuttered, crying harder again.
“Oh, Rosie,” Ivy said consoling her.
Silas’s heart sank as Rosie continued to cry hard. He helped her straighten up and together they walked to the nearest couch.
“How did it happen?” Silas asked softly, afraid that it would make Rosie cry again.
Rosie sobbed. “They just stormed in and took him. I was upstairs when I heard shouting, and by the time I got here, I saw them dragging him out.”
Silas hugged Rosie, unsure of what to say and how to feel. Something just didn’t feel right. Something was off.
People don’t just arrest others with no concrete evidence.
“I suspect Mason Hunter!” Rosie yelled, her eyes filling with more tears.
“Why do you say so?” Ivy asked, confusion coloring her tone.
“It’s the same Crystal Residences issue,” Rosie explained. “It’s the same reason why you guys got married in the first place.” “Fuck,” Silas sighed as he settled in the chair. “Why now? I thought this case was over.”
“I actually thought since Mason was already in charge of the building, everything was okay,” Ivy added.
“Apparently not,” Rosie said softly.
Silas stood up, taking out his phone. “Excuse me,” he said, walking toward the laundry room by the stairs, his chest tight with frustration.
He called Thomas first, his stomach knotted when there was no answer. Immediately, he called Wade.
“Hey Wade, I just got to Thomas’s house, what’s going on now?” Despite how he had tried to keep his voice steady, it still shook.

Wade sighed before he replied. “This is a serious offense, Silas.”
His stomach dropped and he held the wall to keep himself from falling down.
“Evidence has been provided and… it looks real.” Wade’s voice broke and Silas could tell it was hard for him to say that
Silas swallowed hard, his throat drying up. “Thomas would never… do that.
“I know,” Wade said firmly, “which is why I’m working on it.”
His thoughts drifted back to Rosie’s statement about Mason. “Do you think Masons capable of doing this?
“That’s some serious assumpt-”
“Just answer the question, Silas interrupted him sharply.
Wade paused for a moment before he spoke. “I don’t think so, Silas. The evidence is too clear to avoid. It is either Mason paid a fortune to get people to fake this or… it is true.”
Silas’s shoulder slumped at the statement. “Thank… you, he whispered, his heart shattering. “Can I talk to Thomas?” “I’m afraid not, Silas,” Wade said sadly. “Thomas is locked up.”
Anger suddenly filled Silas’s heart. “What? They locked him up without investigating?”
Wade sighed. “I’m sorry Silas… I have to go.”
“But Wade…”
“I’m working on it. I’ll call you,” Wade said, then hung up.
Silas dropped the phone, emotions tearing up his chest. What was he going to do now? How will he save Thomas?
