Ivy laughed at the unexpected question. “Oh Lord. Ive been asking myself that lately”
Silas chuckled again. “How did you survive a man with such a big ego”
Ivy shrugged. “I don’t even know, and really I don’t care
And it was the truth. She didn’t give two cents about what Mason was doing anymore
Silas smiled at her. Im proud of you though”
Her cheeks bumed as she smiled. “Thank you.”
“Well, let’s just hope-”
Suddenly, Silas was interrupted as Cheryl appeared on their table, her eyes blazing with anger and she was frowning
“You can’t stop ruining everything?” she snapped, pointing at lvy, though she wasn’t shouting “You showed up and everything worsened,”
“How about you go home and rest?” Silas said, standing up from his chair. “it is a long night, and it’s way past your bettine
“I’m here to support my man. You don’t get to tell me what to do? Cheryl snapped again, louder this time, diverting her anger to Silas.
Some guests were already looking and murmuring among themselves at Cheryl’s outburst.
Silas’s eyes narrowed. “You better leave before I have the security throw you out.”
“And take your darling fiance along,” Ivy smirked, adding to the jab.
“You witch!” Cheryl shouted. This time, everybody was looking at them. “I hate your guts! You deserve to rot-
She was cut off as Silas signaled to the bodyguards, who immediately dragged Cheryl out of the hal
“I hope you rot in hell, Ivy!” Cheryl called as she was escorted out of the hall.
“I apologize for that. Let’s carry on,” Silas addressed everyone as he sat back down.
Ivy’s heart swelled with pride at his defense, but beneath the pride was the fear of the media. They had come to the event to control the narrative, not to further complicate their reputation
“That was intense, Silas laughed.
“I know for sure the media would make it worse,” she said, admitting her f fear
“Hey” Silas murmured, placing a hand on hers. “Let them say whatever, at least they know you defend yourself. I’m very sure if we weren’t in public you would have tackled her more than this.”
Ivy laughed. “I guess.”
1 know I’m right,” he teased
She laughed again, happy that he could turn her worry around, but when her eyes drifted to Rosie, the glare on Rosie’s face removed the smile on hers.
She shifted in her chair, aware of Rosie’s disapproval
“Who was that?” Thomas asked, leaning forwar
“Mason’s fiancee” Sias replied.
Successfully unlocked!
Rosie’s eyes widened, her scowl disappearing. “I didn’t know he had a pregnant fiancee.”
“What’s she doing here with that heavy stomach?” Thomas asked, sounding genuinely concerned
Before there was a response, a loud voice addressed the quests.

Chapter 91. A Tipsy Ter
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen‘
Ivy straightened up, avoiding Rosie’s eyes as her eyes found the speaker on the podium ahead
“Welcome to a splendid night where we honor an extraordinary visionary, a remarkable woman, Michelle Fry for her excellent contribution to the environment of California.” The man in the white suit said. The audience applauded and
“Tonight, through your generosity, we’ll also come together to support and keep the Michelle Fry dream atre so continue to create opportunities where we can transform communities, inspire investors, and real estate innovators to provide a brighter future. This is more than a gala. This is a movement, and we welcome you to change
Applause filled the room just as drinks were served. Sidas took four glasses, pushed two towards lyy, and kept the rest to himself
“To loosened up,” he winked
Ivy smiled as she sipped on one of the glasses. From the corner of her eye, she saw Rosie adjust her chair, going closer to her husband and far from by
The action hurt, but the alcohol in her system didnt let her dwell on it. She finished one glass and winked at Slas
He chuckled, sipping his own glass. He grimaced at the taste and Ivy laughed Her heart tugged with emotion as she watched Silas’s silly expression. Maybe it was the way he had been defending her, or maybe it was simply the alcohol in her system, but Ivy found herself admiring him.
“What?” he asked.
“Nothing” she smiled as she looked away
She could feel the heat between her legs, but still couldn’t stop herself from blushing hard. When Silas’s thigh touched hers again, she bit her lip to stop a moan from slipping out. Unable to control her emotions, she stood up abruptly
Silas’s brow lifted. “Where are you going?”
“The restroom” she replied, avoiding his eyes.
Ivy walked to the end of the room, this time, a woman was addressing the audience. She saw the restroom sign from afar and made her way there. She was about to go in when a voice stopped her.
“hy?”
She turned her eyes widened with surprise and then indifference. “Tina” she said flatly.
“Oh, Ivy. You look good,” Tina said, her eyes darting all over her outfit.
“Thank you,” she said, turning to leave.
“I’m sorry.” Tina blurted out before she could leave.
Ivy frowned. “About what Tina? The fact that you fired me when you knew I had nothing else? Or the part that Cheryl paid you to do it?”
Tina’s cheeks colored. Tm sorry, Ivy. I was ignorant, and stupid.”
Ivy didn’t want to hear any of her sloppy apologies. “Bye, Tina,” she said, making her way to the restroom.
In there, anger had tightened her chest, yet she could still feel a pool of heat between her legs. She dabbed her face with water, inhaling and exhaling, hoping it would steady her
After a moment, she dried her face keeping her makeup intact, and returned to the hall.
When she made her way to her seat, she noticed that Silas was on his second drink.
“You good?” he whispered.
She nodded, reaching for her own second drink. The alcohol didn’t help at all, because all her subsided nerves came rushing back. But she held them in place, trying her best to control them.
By the time the event ended, Ivy was already tipsy, and her legs wobbled as she stood.
“Take it easy” Silas said, helping her up.
“I hope you enjoyed the night?” Thomas asked, helping Rosie too.
Silas answered and Thomas said they should take pictures, then there was a flash and she felt Silas’s hand on h guiding her through it all.
Ivy felt as the alcohol deepened her heat and soon found herself in the car with Silas.
He asked her something, but she couldn’t make out the word. All sh

Driven by passion, by alcohol, and unable to control herself, Ivy suddenly reached for Silas’s hand, shoving it under her red
