Softening my expression, I reached out and gently ruffled her hair. The fluffy texture made my throat tighten. Susan, did you draw all these?”

Her face lit up, her eyes shining like a lake under the moonlight. She nodded eagerly. Mhm! I love drawing. Back in Dad’s den, I drew a lot!Her voice held a trace of excitement

But then she paused, lowering her voice. Cynthia tore up a bunch of them, though. The ones I hid in my booksI forgot to bring them when I left I could hear the sadness in her tone, like the scent of wind scattering grass

I pointed at one of the drawings, my fangs slightly exposed. What’s this? She instantly turned into a little tour guide, her face beaming. Two kids running off to play in an enchanted forest

Grandpa, look! The flower vines are necklaces woven by Spring herself! She pointed at the drawing, her voice crisp and sweet, and for a moment, I swore I could smell the fresh earth of springtime

That big rock over there? It tumbled down the mountain and cracked in half, but lucky clovers grew in the cracks, so now it’s Lucky Rock! She grinned, revealing her tiny sharp teeth, warming my heart

And this flower lady? She tilts her chin up and says, Hmph! None of you are prettier than me!She’s so full of herself!Susan mimicked the voice, humming lightly like a little wolf pup practicing its howl

Chirpy went quiet, tilting its head as it examined her artwork. I found myself just as captivated

Her drawings were as vivid as wildflowers in the forest, bringing even the stones to life. They had a strange way of soothing my restless heart

I couldn’t help but pull out my phone and snap a picture of her work, which I’m sending to an old friend

That guy was the top wolf in the art world. I wanted to see if Susan could learn from himif she had what it took to become his apprentice

Just as I was getting lost in her drawings, footsteps echoed from downstairs. A servant called out, Alpha, Luna is back.”

My ears twitched, catching my Luna’s familiar scent

Taking Susan’s small, warm hand in mine, I murmured Come on, Grandma’s home.”

She gazed up at me, her smile bright and pure, akin to a little wolf pup under a full moon

Kelly’s POV

Seated in my wheelchair, I inhaled the familiar scent of pine drifting from Zain as he pushed me inside. My voice trembled as I asked, Where’s Susan? My throat felt like it was clogged with wind

A delicate little girl, her hand in Laurence’s, was stepping down the stairs. A sweet, young wolf scent wafted

from her

I froze, as if someone had grabbed my throat. Tears welled up silently, blurring my vision

She looked exactly like Jenny when she was little

Jenny, my Jenny A sharp pain tore through my chest. The empty air carried none of her scent anymore, and I couldn’t stop my tears from falling

SusanMy voice cracked like a mournful howl in the night, raw and hoarse

Suddenly, she pulled free from Laurence’s grasp and dashed toward me, calling out in a clear, ringing voice, Grandma!”

She tilted her face up, hesitated for just a moment, then firmly took my hand in her own warm little palm

I could smell the faint ink scent on her fingers, and my heart trembled, like trees swaying in the forest wind

She buried her head in my embrace and mumbled, I promised Mom I’d take good care of Grandma and be a good girl

So I have to keep my word!”

She wanted to stay by my side

My nose burned. I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I hugged her tightly, sobbing, Susan, my precious Susan

She nestled against me, warm and soft, like the only source of heat in the den

Tears soaked into my fur, but she clumsily reached up with her tiny hands and patted my back gently. Don’t cry, Grandmadon’t cry!”

Her sweet voice was like a lullaby for pups

Holding her close, inhaling the scent that carried Jenny’s essence, my heart felt mended by moonlight. Yet my tears wouldn’t stop. My old wolf’s howls caught in my throat

Hannah’s POV

Upstairs, watching Grandma and Susan wrapped in each other’s arms, I clenched my fists tightly

It was bad enough Susan stole my toys, but now she was stealing my grandparents too. I was beyond fed

I didn’t want to see them anymore, so I turned and ran up the stairs

As I passed by an empty room, a strange sound caught my attention

Idiot! Idiot!”

I frowned. No one had lived here before. Sniffing the air, I caught Susan’s scent

Without hesitation, I pushed the door open and saw a bright green bird perched on a stand
