Chapter 27 Family Conflict

Zain’s POV

Hannah’s piercing cries stabbed into my cars, loud enough to shake the entire house

Standing at the doorway, I scanned the chaos before me, an overwhelming sense of frustration rising in my chest

As the Alpha of the Silvermoon Tribe, my senses were far sharper than most. The shrill wailing wasn’t just splitting my skullit was an open challenge to my authority over this household

I took a deep breath, forcing down the primal urge to sharl

Jesse, along with Winston and Wyatt, who had just returned, stood off to the side, eyes wide with shock

They were still just young werewolves, their bloodline power yet to fully awaken. They’d never witnessed anything like this before

I could smell the tension radiating from them, but I had no time to care. As Alpha, it was my duty to restore order and uphold the rules of the pack

Then came Winnie’s sharp, grating voice, slicing through the air like claws on stone. She held Hannah tightly, her face flushed with anger as she snapped, How could you hit her? If you didn’t want to give Hannah the parrot, you could’ve just said so! Why resort to violence?”

She cradled Hannah in her arms, glaring at Susan with those ordinary, unremarkable werewolf eyes

I stood by, watching coldly, growing increasingly dissatisfied with her reaction

She was my wife in name only, a woman of common bloodnowhere near my level in strength or status as an Alpha. Yet she constantly acted on instinct, letting her emotions cloud her judgment, never once considering the rules of the pack

Susan stood her ground, small but unyielding

Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, lips pressed into a thin line. She clenched her fists and muttered, Hannah hit me first.” Her voice was quiet but firm, carrying the innate resilience of a werewolf’s bloodline

I could feel the faint but undeniable bond that connected us. She was part of Silvermoon. More than that -she was my destined mate

That stubborn defiance stirred something deep within me. As Alpha, I couldn’t ignore her pain

But Winnie refused to back down. So what if she hit you? That doesn’t mean you should hit her back! Don’t you know children are supposed to be kind and forgiving?”

I almost laughed

In the world of werewolves, strength and dignity determined one’s placekindness and forgiveness had no value

She was trying to suppress Susan with this weak, naive reasoning. And worse, she lacked even the slightest presence befitting the wife of an Alpha

Enough!Laurence’s thunderous roar shook the room instantly silencing Winnie’s endless scolding

Despite no longer being Alpha, he still carried the commanding presence of an elder wolf. His authority was absolute

You talk about kindness and forgivenesstell me, docs Hannah understand those things? She stole Susan’s parrot, attacked her first, and yet the first thing you do is scold Susan?”

Winnie stiffened, falling silent, though her eyes burned with defiance

I could smell the frustration and resentment rising from her, but all I felt was disappointment

A mere ordinary werewolf could never understand the burden of an Alphathe duty to maintain order and uphold tradition far outweighed any personal bias

Susan stood there clutching Chirpy, her head lowered, her small shoulders trembling

Kelly wheeled herself forward, pulling Susan into a gentle embrace. Stroking her back, she whispered soothingly, Don’t cry, sweetheart. It’s okay.”

Susan bit her lip, voice choked with emotion. Hannah was hurting Chirpy first”

Her words wavered, but there was a defiant spark beneath themthe raw determination of a young wolf cub

At that moment, something inside me stirred. The mate bond was always powerful, even when one partner was still young. No matter how much I tried to suppress it, Susan’s pain struck a nerve deep within me, igniting a slowburning fury

Then, all at once, she broke down. A gutwrenching sob tore from her throat, years of pentup grievances spilling out in that single moment

My chest tightened. As Alpha, I could feel her emotions crashing against me like a tidal wave

Her cries didn’t just ring in my earsthey shook something inside my soul
