Chapter 3 Capable of Bearing Offspring
Frank’s POV: I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw it—Susan, this lowly Omega, had somehow given birth to an Alpha-level wolf spirit. The realization hit me with both shock and confusion. If this wolf spirit truly carried the strength of an Alpha, it meant that Susan had the potential to evolve into an Alpha herself. This was something unprecedented for the Grayclaw Tribe—a chance to have another Alpha in the future. My father and I hurried toward her, attempting to connect our wolf spirits with hers, but no response came. “D*mn it!” My father cursed under his breath, kicking Susan roughly. “Her wolf spirit has gone dormant again!” When a wolf spirit became dormant, it meant it had failed to awaken. It was a sign that Susan, despite everything, remained just a lowly Omega. And that might never change. “What now? Do we finish her off?” I asked. My father paused, his mind clearly working through the situation. “No, what we saw earlier was real. She has Alpha potential. This is because of your bloodline,” he said, his voice shifting to one of interest. “I see a new possibility,” he continued, his gaze narrowing as he looked at Susan, battered and bloody, with silver poison still seeping through her wounds. But her werewolf body, as strong as it was, wouldn’t let her die so easily. “We’ll keep her alive,” my father decided, his voice firm and commanding. “She’s capable of bearing offspring with Alpha blood!” None of the pack dared oppose his decision. This meant Susan’s future was sealed: She would become a mere breeding tool for the Grayclaw Tribe, a woman for others to use. Her worth would only be recognized when she could give birth to a child with Alpha blood. I couldn’t deny that I felt conflicted. While I couldn’t bring myself to kill the woman responsible for my son’s death, I knew I couldn’t go against my father’s choice now. “Wolves!” I called out to the pack, gathering their attention. “The Moon Festival feast is over. Everyone head back!” As for Susan, I abandoned her in the snow, warning the pack not to go near her. Let the cold and poison continue to torment her. At least it was a small form of punishment for her survival. On my way to comfort Cynthia, who had recently suffered a miscarriage, a sudden, strong sensation pierced my thoughts. I could feel eight powerful presences invading my territory. “What? Eight Alphas?” Panic and rage surged within me. Eason’s POV: The heavy claws of my wolf form broke through the door of Grayclaw Tribe like it was nothing, and the eight of us stormed forward, ignoring the tribe’s weak attempts at stopping us. Our mission was clear: find the one with my sister, Jenny’s, bloodline—our destined mate. The Grayclaw Tribe had raised the wolf smoke, signaling trouble for their pack, but I paid it little attention. It was irrelevant. Grayclaw Tribe was nothing more than a primitive, insignificant group. No warrior within their walls had the courage to stop us. Such a tribe didn’t deserve my respect. The other brothers shared my sentiments. We followed the scent trail, eventually arriving at a larger building than the others in Grayclaw. This place was far more opulent, suggesting it belonged to the Alpha. “She’s in there!” Ivan growled under his breath, his breath misting in the cold air. I wasn’t interested in making small talk with the Grayclaw Alpha. Without a word, I swung my massive claw at the door, splintering it open, and rushed inside. The building opened into a wide courtyard, its ground blanketed in thick snow. But there, in one corner, I saw something that made my heart stop—a patch of snow stained dark red. The smell of fresh blood hit me hard. Through the snow, I saw a fragile figure curled up, her face almost hidden. As soon as I laid eyes on her, a sharp pain stabbed at my temples, and my vision blurred, clouded with blood-red afterimages. She looked just like Jenny did when she was younger! She was my sister’s daughter! Inside me, my wolf spirit howled, “Our mate!” Without thinking, I shifted back to my human form and rushed to her side, gathering her up gently. The healing magic granted to me by the Goddess surged through me as I worked desperately to stabilize her. “It’s silver poison!” I muttered fiercely, grinding my teeth. “They used silver poison to torture her. I need to get her to the temple, now!”
