James wasn’t fazed at all. Siteng behind his desk, he raised an eyebrow, “What do I have to say? That’s Emily’s grandpa. You should’ve taken gifts to visit him. If you didn’t, who can you blame?”
Lawrence’s face darkened.
Just as he was about to leave, James reminded him, “Lawrence, I’ve done everything I can for you. If you can’t keep her, that’s your own problem. Also, don’t forget what you promised Emily. Her grandpa is the closest person to her.”
Lawrence frowned, “You don’t need to worry. I know what to do.
With that, he left.
Meanwhile.
Emily returned to their marital home and immediately started packing her things.
Three years of marriage, and she had been living in this room alone.
She used to buy flowers and decorations to make the place look nice, hoping it would lift his spirits when he came home.
But he never cared about this place.
She was tired.
A marriage with only one person was too dull. She wanted to leave.
After packing the last item, Emily grabbed her suitcase and was about to go.
Suddenly.
A cold voice sounded behind her, “Where are you going?”
Emily turned around to see Lawrence standing there with a cold expression.
She calmed down, “I don’t need to report to you where I’m going. Don’t forget our relationship.”
“If you want to leave, leave the things behind.”
Lawrence walked over step by step, his tall figure almost enveloping her.
She had changed into a wine–red fitted dress, perfectly showcasing her beautiful figure, with her exposed skin looking smooth.
Emily understood his meaning and sneered, “These are my personal belongings. Why can’t I take them?”
“You say they are, but what if there’s something from the Parker family hidden inside?”
Lawrence was cold and unreasonable.
Chapter 14
Emily’s chest heaved with anger. She immediately opened the suitcase to show him, “Fine, Mr. Parker, check it yourself. See if there’s anything hidden from your Parker family?”
Lawrence really started checking.
“He picked up a ruby ring from the suitcase, his lips curling without any emotion, “If I’m not mistaken, this was worn by
Grandma when she was young.”
“That was a birthday gift from Grandpa. What does it have to do with the Parker family?”
Emily tried to snatch it back, but she wasn’t tall enough. Lawrence raised his hand slightly, and she almost fell onto him.
She had wanted to keep it as a memento, but forget it. If he wanted to take it, let him.
“Not just the ring. The clothes you’re wearing, the jewelry, the branded bags in the closet, which one wasn’t bought with my card? Want to take them? Did you get my permission?”
Emily saw through Lawrence.
It turns out you can only see someone’s true colors when talking about divorce.
He even wanted to count the money spent on clothes?
Biting her lip, Emily decided to leave the suitcase behind, “Since it’s all bought with the Parker family’s money, I won’t take it. Happy now?”
Emily pushed Lawrence aside and was about to leave, but he grabbed her wrist tightly, his eyes darkening, “If you want to leave, take off what you’re wearing too!”
Emily couldn’t believe what she heard.
Lawrence meant that if she wanted to leave, she could only do so naked.
“Lawrence, say that again!” Emily’s face turned pale with anger. They were both holding their breath, neither willing to back down.
Neither was willing to be the one to lower their head.
Olivia was downstairs. He was deliberately trying to embarrass her.
This wasn’t just making things difficult for her; it was outright humiliation.
