As she drove away from the horse ranch, Freya found herself at a loss, unsure of where to go next.
Jessica and Johnny had their own things to do.
She thought about returning to the Miller family home, but with Isabella being absent, going back alone would only worry the old lady even more…
As she was thinking this, she passed by a wetland park and saw several couples camping with their children, as well as young people who had brought their parents out for a day of relaxation.
Seeing their loving relationships and happy families, a trace of envy and… bitterness unconsciously appeared in
Freya’s eyes.
After driving a little further, Freya suddenly stopped her car by the side of the road.
She picked up her phone, hesitated for a long moment, then dialed a number.
When the call was answered, she asked, “Hello, Director, how is my mother doing?”
An hour and a half later…
Lotus Sanatorium.
Freya stood in the courtyard, looking at Sally Miller sitting on a chair not far away.
Her expression was vacant, her face gaunt and withered–almost unrecognizable compared to the beautiful, lively woman Freya remembered from her childhood.
Although she had long gotten used to seeing her like this, her heart still couldn’t settle.
After a while, the director softly spoke, “It’s the same as before, no change.”
Sally couldn’t interact with people from her past, or else she would fall into another round of madness.
Her mental state was rarely calm now, and Freya didn’t want to, nor dare to, disturb her.
After standing there for a moment, afraid of being noticed by Sally, she left the courtyard.
Once she was a bit farther away, she spoke to the director and the staff caring for her mother, “I’ll leave her in your hands. Please take good care of her.”
“Miss Miller, you’re too kind. It’s our duty.”

Treya glanced back at Sally one more time through the glass window, then left the sanatorium leaving behind ome books and supplies she had bought for her.
She had leh the sanatorium, but her mood remained heavy
As she drove back, when she passed by the wetland park again, the saw kites flying in the day. She turned the car around and entered the park.
The park was filled with a gentle breeze, the sun was just right, and the scenery was nice.
However, everyone else was there in groups, and she, being alone, felt a little out of place.
Standing in front of a stall, she was contemplating whether to buy a kite herself when suddenly, a small hand grabbed her finger and shook it.
“Auntie.”
Freya turned at the sound of the voice and was surprised to see the person. “Daisy?”
Daisy gently nodded, her small hand still holding onto Freya’s finger.
“Daisy-
Harry walked over, and upon seeing Freya, his voice faltered, then he paused before walking closer. You came here to have fun too?”
“Mm.”
“Did you bring Isabella along?”
Freya lowered her eyes and said lightly, “No, I came by myself.”
Upon hearing this, Harry seemed to understand something, and for a moment, didn’t speak.
Freya was thinking that she and Harry weren’t very familiar with each other and was about to leave when Daisy looked up at her and said, “Auntie, let’s fly a kite together.”
Freya declined, “No, Auntie still has some things to do.”
Daisy’s face fell. “Oh…”
Harry spoke up, “Let’s do it together. It’s just the two of us anyway.”
As if sensing what she was thinking, he added, “I’ll watch from the side and won’t disturb you. You can just think of it as having one more playmate for Daisy.”
Freya actually liked Daisy a lot.

Moreover…
She really didn’t want to be alone right now.
Upon hearing this, she decided not to refuse.
She and Daisy picked out a blue butterfly kite, one that they both liked.
Freya had flown many kites before when she took Isabella on outings.
She was quite experienced.
However, the kite they picked this time was a little too large, and since Daisy was still small, the two of them struggled to control it.
Harry walked over silently and helped them.
After the kite was successfully launched, both Freya and Daisy smiled happily.
