Today, Matteo was as handsome and dignified as ever, tall and composed, and just like before, his expression would grow notably colder whenever he saw her.
Like yesterday, Matteo merely glanced at her before looking away.
Freya lowered her eyes and, just like yesterday, softly called out “President Matteo,” waiting until he had walked away before entering the company.
She didn’t know if Raven was at the company today, nor did she care. She focused silently on her own work.
At noon, her grandmother called.
“Mag, X City sent over a lamb. The weather’s getting cold now, come home for dinner tonight. Grandmother will have them prepare a whole lamb feast for you.”
Hearing the elderly lady’s kind voice, warmth filled Freya’s heart, “Alright, I’ll come right after work.”
Apart from the morning, Freya didn’t run into Matteo again that day.
That day, just as she was packing up to leave on time, Chad brought her a document, asking her to handle it urgently.
Freya paused.
Though it was labeled urgent, after scanning the contents, she knew this document wasn’t actually time–sensitive.
In the past, she would have smiled and accepted it, promising to complete it quickly.
Because she hadn’t wanted special treatment.
But today, she no longer wanted to strive for perfection–especially regarding matters involving Matteo.
Besides, she was tired.
Now she just wanted to go home early to be with her grandmother, not work overtime.
She used to try hard to maintain good relationships with Matteo’s personal secretaries.
But that was no longer necessary.
Moreover, Chad had wrongly accused her yesterday without any basis, and she wasn’t magnanimous enough to act as if nothing had happened.
She looked at Chad and said coldly, “I won’t do this work now. I’m leaving.”
Chad’s face darkened, thinking Freya was using her position for special treatment, “Secretary Freya, please maintain a proper work attitude. Do you think this is your home?!”

Freya picked up her bag, her attitude unchanged, “If you’re dissatisfied, you can fire me right now.”
“You-”
Though he had been in Country A with Matteo, he knew about Freya’s resignation letter.
While he had Matteo’s trust, the company wasn’t his personal domain. He didn’t have the authority to simply tell Freya to leave.
Moreover, Freya was in Matteo’s grandmother’s good graces. If Freya complained to her, even though he was certain Matteo would protect him, he still wouldn’t come out ahead.
Freya ignored him and walked past.
Chad’s face turned green with anger as he left the secretarial department.
Jake, seeing his expression, asked, “What happened?”
Chad explained the situation.
Jake was very surprised.
He usually had more contact with Freya than others.
He understood her personality somewhat.
He couldn’t help saying, “This doesn’t seem like something Freya would do.
Could there be some misunderstanding?”
“There’s no misunderstanding. This is exactly what happened. In my view, Freya is just using her position for special treatment. Where’s all this goodness you usually talk about?”
Jake paused, “Maybe since she’s resigning, she’s starting to slack off?”
But Freya had been working as diligently as ever lately, no different from before.
Just then, Matteo walked over from nearby, “What’s going on?”
“It’s Secretary Freya. She left work before finishing her tasks.”
“If you’re dissatisfied, follow the procedures to terminate her employment.”
It was clear Matteo didn’t care about this matter at all.
Jake and Chad were stunned.
Not because they thought Matteo was too indifferent about Freya.
But from his tone, it seemed he didn’t even know Freya had submitted her resignation?

Just as they were about to speak, Matteo’s phone rang.
It was Raven calling.
Matteo walked past them toward the elevator, answering the phone, “I’m leaving work now, I’ll be there soon…”
Jake and Chad looked at each other in confusion.
Jake, “Maybe the CEO forgot?”
“That’s possible.”
After all, Matteo had never paid much attention to matters concerning Freya.
