The Wolf and the Fae
Chapter 111
The next morning, Laria woke up before dawn. She already had a gut feeling of how it was going to play out and she honestly didn’t want to face an empty bed when she woke.
She looked at him in the dead of the night, pecking his cheek that was to her side as left, her footsteps barely heard on the hard
wood.
She opened the door, trying not to alert the guards. “thought you might stay the night”
*EEEEKKKKK!!!” lucia was flying several feats into the air as she heard the voice behind her.
“goddess Constance! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?” she said clutching her chest as she tried to calm her racing heart
“I should be asking you the same” she said laying on the bed looking at the ceiling.
Sometimes, with the way she acted, Lucia forgot that Constance was indeed an aged woman.
“what are you talking about?” she asked, closing the door behind her as she entered fully into the room.
“imagine my panicked state when I came to get you when the castle was under attack and I couldn’t find you, and even worse, you didn’t come back hours later” she said turning to look at Lucia.
“you definitely looked panicked” she replied rolling her eyes.
“you were with him, weren’t you?” Constance asked in a more serious tone. Lucia said nothing, “I hope you are doing the right thing, I know…”
“Constance, I am tired, its early and I would like proper rest” she cut her off, rushing to the other side of the bed.
“of course” was all she said as she made her way out the room.
Helios awoke to the gentle embrace of morning light filtering through the curtains, painting patterns on the walls of the room. He stretched, relishing in the comfort of his bed, and reached out instinctively to where Lucia should have been lying beside him. His hand met nothing but the cool emptiness of the sheets.
Confusion pricked at his consciousness, and he blinked away the last remnants of sleep, his mind racing to comprehend the absence beside him. “Lucia?” he called out, his voice muffled by the silence that enveloped the room.
With a frown etched deep on his features, Helios sat up, his gaze scanning the room for any sign of her presence. But the space remained stubbornly vacant, devoid of her warmth, and what was meant to be her morning self
Panic began to gnaw at the edges of his thoughts as he thought that maybe the rebels had somehow come into the room to take her. away at night. He swung his legs over the side of the bed, his bare feet meeting the cool wooden floor.
His mind raced through the possibilities, each one more terrifying than the last. Had something happened to her? Had she left without a word? The questions swirled in his mind, a whirlwind of uncertainty and fear.
With a sense of urgency, Helios threw on the closest robes, barely looking at what he was wearing, his movements quick and frantic as he searched for any clue to her whereabouts. But the room offered no solace, no answers, only the echoing emptiness of her
absence.
Desperation clawed at his chest as he stumbled out into the hallway, his steps echoing in the silence of the castle. ‘Lucia?” he called

out again, his volet trembling with emotion. But there was no response, no sign of her presence, only the haunting echo of his own words
As Hellos darted through the corridors of the palace, his frantic seart for Lucia consuming his every thought, he passed by the guards stationed along the way. Their usual stoic expressions faltered as they caught sight of their king in such a state of distress.
Whispers trailed in his wake, exchanged glances revealing the unspoken question that hung heavy in the air. What could have
so vulnerable? possibly caused their revered monarch to appear so agitated,
