The Wolf and the Fae
Chapter 121
Fear, that was the exact word to describe the feeling that coursed through Larcia’s skin. She wanted, no needed to hold something of rather someone and she had fucked it up.
She ran into the forest, the forest at the back of the castle, the same one she had been taken from far too many times already for it to be considered normal, and she sat down, looking at nothing but the sky.
The memories did not stop. She tried to distract herself from her own thoughts but that seemed to be an impossible task for her.
She closed her eyes, trying to reach into her wolf but she felt nothing.
Lupa.
The words rang in her head over and over. It did not matter that she had only been with it a few months, or that the only time she knew the name of the wolf was at its time of its dying, it was as if the name had been slapped into her memory, one she could not process at that moment.
She had stayed in that particular position for over hours and her legs were starting to ache, but she could not find it in her to move.
Something was really wrong with her. She couldn’t just shrug it off like it was nothing anymore.
Her mind went to the time of the attack, when she had a sudden burst of energy, and even further back to when she had the same feeling when Camille threatened Helios.
And just now, she knew she could no longer play it off as nothing anymore.
“hey” helios greeted, approaching Lucia like you would a dear not to startle it.
She looked up at him, smiling a bit, sorrows latched in the smile, “hit he said nothing, as he took his spot beside her.
“I’m sorry for earlier, I thought…”
“its fine” she said cutting him off as her cheeks flustered. “I was the one who said I wanted to go further and I failed. I rose your hopes up for nothing, I am just-“
“hey” he said stopping her from going any further “don’t beat your self up. we have our whole lives to figure it out, besides, I don’t want to be in a hurry to have all of you” he teased, looking at her in a way that mad her body buzz.
She looked at him, smiling at him. “Thank you”
He stood, dusting the dirt that had gathered, looking down at her
“let’s go” he said smiling down at me.
Helios stood at the balcony of his private chamber, his eyes tracing the last rays of sunlight as they vanished into the twilight. His mind was restless, something was up with Lucia and he did not know how to approach the subject.
The evening air was cool, a gentle breeze rustling the leaves of the ancient oak trees that lined the gardens. Helios closed his eyes, savoring the peace that this moment brought. It was a rare respite from the ceaseless trouble that was bothered him.
A sudden, urgent knock at the door shattered the stillness. Helios turned, his golden eyes narrowing. “Enter,” he commanded, his

voice steady yet carrying the weight of authority.
The door creaked open, revealing Thalor, his most trusted advisor a guardian of the inter realm gates, he was always hidden revealing himsell only when the needed. Thalor’s expression was ge, his usual calm demeanor replaced with an urgency that set
Belios on the edge
“My Lord,” Thalor began, bowing respectfully, “we have received a message from the Shadow Realm.”
Helios felt a chill run down his spine. The Shadow Realm was a place of darkness and treachery, its inhabitants known for their malevolence and cunning. “What is it?” he asked, his voice betraying one of the dread that gripped his heart.
Thalor stepped forward, extending a sealed parchment. “It is a threat my Lord. Against Lady Lucia.

The blood drained from Helios’s face. His grip on the parchment tightened, crumpling the edges. The thought of losing Lucia, his soul’s counterpart, was unbearable. He looked up at Thalor, his eyes blazing with a fierce determination.
“Who delivered this message?” Helios demanded.
“A shadow wraith, my Lord. It appeared at the gate, delivered the message, and vanished before we could apprehend it.”
Helios’s mind raced. The Shadow Realm had always been a threat, his powers seemed somehow useless there.
“We cannot let this stand,” Helios declared, his voice a low growl. “We must protect Lucia at all costs.”
Thalor nodded, his expression resolute. “I have already doubled the guards around Lady Lucia. She is safe within the Castle for now, but we must prepare for the possibility of an attack.”
Helios paced the room, his thoughts a whirlwind of strategies and countermeasures. He knew the Shadow Realm’s tactics well; they thrived on fear and manipulation. He could not afford to be reactive; he had to take the fight to them.
“my lord if I may, I think we should take her to the academy” Helios” snapped his head towards him, himself filled with apprehension.
“I can’t afford that, she would be away from me, I won’t be able to save her in time if anything happens to her”
“but you know that no one would dare to come close to that place and you are still a lord there” helios thought it over and over before nodding. Deep down, he knew that was the wisest decision, but it still was something he rather not did.
Thalor bowed and hurried from the room, leaving Helios alone with his thoughts. He turned back to the balcony, the night sky now studded with stars. The night air he was enjoying earlier now made him nauseated. He could not see himself parting from Lucia for an indefinite amount of time, it was something he did not want to do, but knew he had to do.
“fuck” he muttered
