Chapter 128
Helios and Tharlor stood at the distance, finally able to see the cast of the shadow king. It truly did stand out considering in the vast empty and deserted realm.
“Do you ever tire of this view, my friend? Helios asked, his voice tied with melancholy. As they looked at the castle. They had been here a few times
Tharlor smiled faintly. “It is a sight to behold, Your Majesty. A reminder of what we fight for.”
Helios nodded, but his eyes remained distant. “And yet, the beauty of this land cannot erase the shadows of our past.”
Tharlor’s expression grew serious. He knew where this conversation was heading. “The Shadow King,” he said, almost in a whisper.
Helios turned to face Tharlor, his eyes reflecting a mix of sorrow and resolve, “Yes, the Shadow King. We all know how rabid he can act and you are already in a mess with him. Try not to anger him anymore.”
Years ago, Tharlor had been sent on a covert mission to infiltrate the Shadow Kingdom. His success had been remarkable, but it had come at a great personal cost. Tharlor had become entangled with the Shadow Queen, a relationship that had ignited a fierce and unrelenting hatred in the Shadow King. The betrayal was not only personal but also political, and the repercussions had been simmering ever since.
“The Shadow King’s fury has not diminished with time,” Helios continued. “If anything, it has only grown stronger. He will seek to punish you, Tharlor, and by extension, me.”
Tharlor’s jaw tightened. “I am ready to face whatever comes,sire. I will not let my past mistakes endanger our kingdom.”
Before Helios could respond, a servant hurried to where they were his face pale with fear. “Your Majesty, the Shadow King would see you now
Helios and Tharlor exchanged a grim look. “I hope you are ready” he said to him before looking up to what laid ahead “because I know he is”
The heavy doors swung open, and the Shadow King entered, his presence filling the room with a chilling darkness. His armor seemed to absorb the light, and his eyes burned with cold fire. Behind him trailed an aura of malice and anger that seemed almost palpable.
“Helios,” the Shadow King intoned, his voice a deep, resonant growl. so nice of you to come here.” He looked from Helios to Tharlor, his eyes darkening as he saw him. “especially after all you have done
Helios straightened his back, his demeanor regal and unyielding. “Shadow King, we have no desire for conflict. Let us not as enemies.”

The Shadow King’s gaze shifted to Tharlor, his expression twisted with rage. “There is nothing to discuss.”
Tharlor stepped forward, his voice steady. “I accept responsibility for my actions. But do not punish Helios or our people for my
mistakes.”
The Shadow King’s eyes narrowed. “Your words mean nothing. Your actions have consequences.”
Helios raised a hand, his golden aura flaring slightly, “Shadow King, we can find a way to resolve this without bloodshed. Tharlor has wronged you, and he will make amends. But vengeance will only lead to more pain and suffering for all involved.”
The Shadow King glared at Helios, his anger palpable. “And what, Helios, do you propose?”

Helios took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment. “An acord between our kingdoms. Tharlor will offer restitution, a gesture of his remorse and a promise to never again betray your trus. In return, you will accept his penance and spare both our lands from the devastation of war.”
The Shadow King seemed to consider this, his eyes flickering with a mix of emotions. Finally, he spoke, his voice cold and unforgiving. “Very well, Helios. I will hear your proposal. But know this: if Tharlor betrays me again, no power in this world will save him from my wrath.”
Tharlor bowed his head, relief washing over him. “I understand, and give you my word that it will not happen again.”
