Chapter 130

Lucia!!!sam yelled, bursting through the door shoving sofia away, looking at her body for possible injuries

lucia!!she tried to shake her out of the shock that she was in, but it was becoming an impossible task

you stupid sireneshe snapped towards Sophia what did you do to her!!she growled trying desperately to keep her wolf at bay no.. nothing! I was just by her side and then-she did not get to finish her words as she was shoved against the wall

you better hope nothing happens to or I swear to the goddessshe warned, her eyes flashing to show that her wolf was on the surface

now you care about me?sam heard from her back, instantly calming her down

I’ve stayed here a month and you avoid me like a plague and when something seems wrong with me and you care all of a sudden?”

Lucia looked at Sam, she physically was hurt from the way she was being treated

yesSam said, closing her eyes and letting go of sofia

what?Lucia had this look of confusion on her face

yes, you getting hurt is what I care about. because if you get hurt, then I don’t get promoted to a level 1 wolf. You are nothing more than an assignment for meshe sneered even though it was far from the truth

why do you hate me so much?! Why do you treat me like I hurt you?Lucia said, the irritation was now evident in her voice

me?Sam looked at her confused. She snorted before she shook her head. of course you would blame me, I always get the blame, don’t i?”

you still haven’t changed, always playing the victimLucia snorted

I’ll just excuse myself nowSofia said, excusing herself from the room

I play the victim? I was not the one playing the victim when Kaden rejected you and you blamed everyone for doing

you wrong!”

Sofia froze at the news, not expecting the news. She straightened her back, leaving quickly before she heard any other thing

you know what? Maybe this was my mistake, I should have let the headmaster switch you with someone elsethe was not supposed to hurt Sam, but for some reason, it cut deeper than she imagined

good day, your highnessshe said, so much spite laced in her voice

Later that night, Lucia decided she was over the incident and decided to go have dinner. Everyone looked at her with w she was a plague

yes. Like

so you are unwantedsome girls approached me, just as I got my food. If it was months ago, I would have cowered in fear but now? I faced a lot than that in the past months that these petty confrontation no longer moved me

excuse me?she replied, making her way to her table

1/3

your first mate did not want you, did he? I am sure the second is with you for pity

Lucia’s body froze up before she decided she had lost her appetite

The days had grown colder, both outside and in Lucia’s heart. After learning about the rumor, she found herself avoiding Samantha, the sting of betrayal too raw to face her. It was easier to stay away, to protect herself from the hurt that gnawed at her insides. She immersed herself in her studies, spent more time in the library, and found excuses to be anywhere but where Samantha might be

Yet, the pain of avoidance was a twoedged sword. Each time Lucia w Samantha from a distancelaughing with friends, walking to class, or sitting in the cafeteriashe felt a pang of longing and sadness. It wasn’t just the loss of a friend; it was the loss of a sister

Samantha, on the other hand, was putting up a tough front. She acted as if Lucia’s absence didn’t bother her, as if their fractured friendship was just a minor inconvenience. But beneath the bravado her heart ached with every passing day. She missed Lucia fiercely, the emptiness gnawing at her whenever she remembered their shared moments

One afternoon, as Samantha walked across the quad, she spotted Luca sitting under a tree, her nose buried in a book. Samantha’s friends chatted around her, but their words were distant, mere background noise to the thoughts swirling in her head. She glanced over at Lucia, her expression hardening

Hey, Sam! You coming?one of her friends called out

Samantha shook herself out of her reverie. Yeah, just a second, she replied, trying to keep her voice steady. She took a deep breath and approached Lucia, her footsteps slow and deliberate

Lucia sensed her presence before she saw her, a familiar tension settling in her shoulders. She looked up, meeting Samantha’s eyes

briefly before looking away

What do you want, Samantha?Lucia’s voice was flat, devoid of the warmth it once held

Samantha crossed her arms, her stance defensive. I was just passing by,she said, trying to sound nonchalant. You’ve been avoiding me.”

Lucia let out a humorless laugh. I wonder why.”

Samantha flinched at the bitterness in Lucia’s tone. Look, I know things have beenweird between us. But can we at least talk

about it?”

。

There’s nothing to talk about,Lucia said, her eyes still fixed on her book. You spread a stupid rumour. I am sure you are just jealous of my mate. You are jealous I got powerful mates twice, right?”

Samantha’s tough exterior began to crack. She bit her lip, something she did when she was starting to get irritated, her voice dropping. you think I would be jealous of you? Do you really think me that shallow?.”

Because I didn’t know!Lucia snapped, finally looking up. Her eyes were filled with hurt and anger. maybe if you didn’t act so much a bitch, I would not have to act this way!”

The silence that followed was thick with unspoken pain. Samantha’s friends, sensing the tension, moved away, giving the two some

space

Samantha swallowed hard, her tough facade crumbling. I was scared okay? I was losing the only guy I ever loved. And I did not know what to do, or how to react, my world was crumbling and….she shook her head. they are excuses but.. I have nothing else

to say”

sam’s expression softened slightly, but the hurt was still there

Samantha took a step closer, her eyes pleading I should have told you the second I knew of Kaden’s plans though”

2/3

Lucia’s heart ached at the sight of Samantha’s vulnerability. She wanted to reach out, to pull her friend into a hug and tell her everything would be okay. But the wound was still too fresh, the pal too sharp, even though she thought she had gotten over the betrayal

Maybe we both need some time,Lucia said quietly. Time to figure things out.”

Samantha nodded, wiping at her eyes. yeah, that sounds like a good idea. However long it takes.”

As Samantha walked away, Lucia felt a mix of emotionssadness, anger, and a flicker of hope. Maybe there was a chance to rebuild what they had lost. But for now, the distance between them was necessary, a space to heal and reflect
