Helios marched into Constance’s quarters, using his magic to check it was appropriate for him to enter inside the room before burst in.
Just as he had sensed, Constance was at the side of the bed, sitting near the fire and staring at it.
It was quiet for a while, Helios not knowing how to start the topic and Constance not knowing what to say”
“its not what it looks like”
“is this why you sent her away?” they both said at the same time, creating a more awkward situation. 1
“what? No! of course not” helios looked at Constance with disbelief in his eyes. “how could you even say that?” he seemed genuinely offended that Constance had to keep her self from snorting as her witty self was not going to save the situation in any way.
“it is my fault, you did not want her as your mate anyways, i was the one that convinced you not to reject a goddess gift, I was just…‘ she shook her head to get rid of the negative thoughts that were clouding her mind.
“don’t say that, you know that I love Lucia, and I would do anything for her” Helios said, walking closer to her as he reduced his voice.
yet if I had not walked in, you would have-”
“she was a siren! That’s basically their work, seduce you to sleep with them, in a way that your body would not say no!” he groaned, running his hands through his hair
“my lord” Constance bowed, all traces of familiarity clearing from her voice. “that might be true, but I also know that they can only act on the thoughts in your mind. You were already fawning over her in your mind and she merely acted what was in your mind”
“I just…” he sighed, not wanting to say anything or argue further. “just don’t say anything to Lucia, knowing about this may break
her”
“good night my king” he looked at her a while before he left. “I would be back in the morning‘ he murmured as he walked out.
Helios stood on the balcony, his mind a storm of conflict. The first rays of the sun had begun to creep over the horizon, casting long shadows across the tiled floor. He had spent the remainder of the night in restless contemplation, and now, as the dawn broke, he knew it was time to act.
Constance was already busy with her morning duties, her movements efficient and precise as she straightened the plush cushions and dusted the ornate furniture. She hummed softly to herself, a simple tune that did little to soothe Helios‘ troubled thoughts. He approached her with measured steps, his heart pounding.
“Constance,” he began, his voice barely above a whisper. She turned to him, her expression turned blank immediately she saw
“Yes, sir?” she replied, pausing her work to give him her full attention.
Helios struggled to find the right words. He had always been a man of action, not eloquence. Yet here he was, needing to convince Constance to keep a secret that could shatter his mate’s trust in him forever.
“There’s something I need to discuss with you,” he said, his voice growing steadier. “It’s about our last discussion.”

Constance’s expression softened, but there was still a hint of disapproval in her eyes. “Sir, I understand that people make mistakes, but Lucia deserves to know the truth.”
Helios clenched his fists, the tension in his body evident. “I know, Constance. But telling her would only cause her pain. I love her more than anything, and I can’t bear the thought of hurting her.”
Constance shook her head slightly. “But hiding the truth is a betrayal in itself. How can you expect her to trust you if you’re not honest with her?”
Helios took a deep breath, his mind racing for a way to make her understand. “I know it seems wrong, but sometimes, protecting someone means keeping certain things from them. Lucia doesn’t need to know about this. It was a mistake, one that will never happen again. Please, Constance, I’m begging you I am asking you as a friend.”
There was a long silence as Constance weighed his words. Helios could see the conflict in her eyes, the struggle between her loyalty to Selene and her sense of right and wrong.
“Helios,” she said finally, her voice gentle but firm, “I believe you when you say you regret what happened. But I can’t promise to keep this from Lucia. She deserves someone in her corner after all she has been through
Desperation clawed at Helios. He took a step closer, his eyes pleading. “Constance, please. If you tell her, it will destroy everything we’ve built together. I swear to you, I will make it right. Just give me a chance.”
“I have to get back to work, I have a lot on my list” she said taking a step back as she faced him. “I have to get back to work, I have a lot on my list” she said taking a step back as she faced him. “your majesty” she curtsied, leaving his presence
