Chapter 135
“I just.. there was this” he thought it over and over how he was going to say it, but it was not just making any sense in his head
“Helios?” she looked at him, pulling herself closer to him. “you are caring me, what’s wrong?”
He looked at her, desperately hoping that some sort of excuse that would believable would pop into his head but there was nothing at all
“Helios,” she called softly, her voice echoing into the surrounding place.
He turned, startled, his golden eyes meeting hers with an intensity that took her breath away. For a moment, neither of them spoke. Lucia could see the turmoil in his eyes, the silent plea for understanding.
“Helios, please, tell me what’s going on,” she said, taking a step closer. “I can’t stand seeing you like this. I know something is bothering you. Why won’t you talk to me? You came here to talk to me, did you not?”
Helios looked away, his jaw clenched. He couldn’t bear to lie to her, but the truth was far too dangerous. He had to protect her even if it meant pushing her away.
“Lucia, it’s… complicated,” he said finally, his voice barely above a whisper. “There are things I can’t tell you. Not now
“But why?” she pressed, her frustration bubbling to the surface “you clearly came all the way to say something to me, then say it. You cant just fucking come over here and put me in that situation, unprovoked!! We are meant to be in this together
Helios felt a pang of guilt. She was right; they had always faced everything together. But this time was different. This time, the stakes were higher than they had ever been.
Desperation surged through him, and before he could stop himself, he cupped her face in his hands and kissed her.
It was a kiss born of anguish and longing, a desperate attempt to convey everything he couldn’t say with words. Lucia’s eyes widened in surprise, but she didn’t pull away. She melted into him, her arms wrapping around his neck as she returned the kiss with equal fervor.
For a moment, time stood still. The world outside ceased to exist, and it was just the two of them, lost in the heat of the moment.
Helios poured all his emotions into the kiss, hoping she would understand the depth of his feelings, the reasons behind his silence
When they finally broke apart, they were both breathless. Lucia’s cheeks were flushed, her lips tingling from the intensity of the kiss. Helios looked at her, his eyes filled with regret and love.
“I’m sorry, Lucia,” he whispered, his voice trembling. “I’m so sorry.”
Lucia searched his eyes, trying to understand the myriad of emotions swirling within him. She could see the fear and the pain, but also the love and the protectiveness. Whatever it was that he was hiding, it was tearing him apart.
“Helios,” she said softly, her hand resting on his chest. “I don’t understand what’s going on, but I trust you. Just… promise me you’ll come to me when you’re ready.”
Helios nodded, his throat tight with emotion. “I promise. I would take you home soon,” he said rubbing her cheeks in a gentle
manner
Lucia gave him a small, sad smile. “Then I’ll wait. But don’t make me wait too long.”
With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Helios alone, joining the other students in the main hall. He watched her go, his heart heavy with the weight of his secrets. He knew he had to find a way to resolve this, to tell her the truth without breaking her
