Chapter 138
The sun had barely risen when Kellan was summoned to the headmaster’s office. The air was thick with anticipation and unease as he made his way through the corridors of the academy. Students and fellow warriors greeted him with nods and smiles, but Kellan’s mind was elsewhere, consumed by a gnawing sense of foreboding.
The headmaster’s office was a grand room, lined with shelves of ancient tomes and artifacts from long–forgotten eras. Headmaster Elara sat behind an imposing mahogany desk, his piercing blue eyes fixed on Kellan as he entered. Beside him stood Helios, his expression unreadable.
“Kellan,” Elara began, his voice calm but firm. Please, have a seat.”
Kellan did as he was told, his heart pounding in his chest. He glanced at Helios, searching for any clue as to what this was about, but found none. But he was not dumb, he already knew what this was about

“Kellan, you’ve been an exemplary warrior commendable. However, recent events have raised concerns.”
Kellan’s brow furrowed. “Concerns? What do you mean, Headmaster?
Elara sighed, exchanging a glance with Helios. “Your actions have been motivated by a personal connection to Lucia, rather than professional duty. This connection, while understandable, has led to decisions that compromise your objectivity and, potentially,
Lucia’s safety.”
Kellan felt as though the ground had shifted beneath him. “With all due respect, Headmaster, my dedication to Lucia’s safety has never wavered. My actions have always been in her best interest.”
Helios stepped forward, his tone measured but firm. “Kellan, I know you care for her, but taking her out without informing anyone was reckless. If something had happened, we wouldn’t have been able to protect her. Not to mention, the way you looked at her!” his nose flared at the last part that Kellan took a step back out of reflex
Kellan clenched his fists, struggling to keep his composure. I was trying to help her. She needed a break, a chance to feel normal for a while. And by the goddess, I did not look at her anyway” he said, lying through his teeth. Deep down, he knew if Helios had not come to meet them, he would have told her of his feelings towards her
Elara’s gaze softened, but his resolve remained. “Kellan, your intentions are not in question.” He said totally ignoring the claim about the way he looked at her. “However, your methods are. After careful consideration, we have decided that it is in everyone’s best interest for you to be reassigned. You will no longer be one of Lucia’s primary protectors.”
The words hit Kellan like a physical blow. He stood abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor. “You can’t do this. Lucia needs me.
I won’t abandon her.”
Elara’s expression hardened. “This is not a matter for debate. The decision is final. You will continue to serve the academy and train here, but in a different capacity. Your replacement will be briefed immediately.”
Kellan turned to Helios, his eyes burning with anger and betrayal, “Did you push for this? Did you convince them I wasn’t good
enough?”
Helios met his gaze, his own eyes filled with a mix of regret and determination. “Kellan, this isn’t about me, you look at her like a piece of meat and think I would sit back and watch?”
Kellan shook his head, unable to process the injustice of it all. “This is a mistake. You’re making a mistake.”
Elara rose from his desk, his demeanor final. “Kellan, I suggest you take some time to reflect. Your skills and dedication are valuable to us,
but you must understand that this decision is made with Lucia’s best interests at heart.” He looked to Helios before looking back at Kellan “and for your safety”

Without another word, Kellan Turned and stormed out of the office, he doors slamming shut behind him. He walked aimlessly through the academy, his mind a whirlwind of emotions. Anger, hurt betrayal–all churned within him, leaving him feeling lost and
adrift.
Eventually, he found himself at the edge of the training grounds, where he had spent countless hours honing his skills. He sank to the ground, his back against a sturdy oak tree, and let out a long, shuddering breath. He took in a deep breath. He could not just let it be, he had to, no. needed to be near her. To see her when he was gaining.
To see the cute little faces she made when she was not getting a spell right. It was his own little obsession.
As the day wore on, Kellan remained there, grappling with his thoughts. He knew he couldn’t simply give up. in a sick and twisted way, he knew that they belonged together and he was going to make sure of that.
Helios stepped in after he had left to get some air, his demeanor calm but his eyes holding a hint of unease. You wanted to see me,
Elara?”
Elara nodded, gesturing for him to take a
seat. “Yes, Helios. We need to discuss Kellan.”
Helios sat down, his expression unreadable. “What about him?”
Elara følded his hands on the desk, his gaze steady. “I believe we may have acted too hastily in removing him from his position as Lucia’s protector” Helios frowned. “you saw his actions. He was trying to make a move on Lucia! My mate!! It was just a matter of
did as he pleased.” time before he was going to drag her to bed and
Elara leaned forward, his gaze intense. “Helios, I understand your concerns. But I also see that you may have let personal feelings influence your judgment. Your relationship with Lucia is important, but it cannot cloud our decisions regarding her protection. What if its all in your head? What if it was just nothing but a stupid outing”
Helios’s eyes widened slightly. “You think I exaggerated the situation?
Elara nodded slowly. “I believe you allowed your emotions to color your perception of Kellan’s actions. He is a dedicated warrior, and his bond with Lucia is strong. We cannot disregard that because of a single mistake. Or don’t you trust your mate not to cheat on
you?”
