chapter 27- pain
Ispat out the food Immediately I found out that it may have been pisoned, I might have imagined it, but I saw Camille look at me for the briefest of seconds, smiling before she looked away from me.
“is the food not to your liking Lucia” I looked at her, folding neatly the napkin 1 had spat into.
“very, I couldn’t think of a perfect meal after my long 1
stay away” I replied rolling my eyes in a subtle way so as she wouldn’t see it.
“Great, thought you wanted to make a scene again, you know, since that’s the only thing you are good al” I fisted my hands on hearing that. I really just wanted to punch her in the face and watch her choke on her own lungs as she slowly died, but I refrained, 1 looked at her, counting to ten in my head before I unfasten my fingers and releasing the anger simultaneously.
“I can’t believe she has the audacity to eat, especially when she caused something so terrible to happen to such a sweet woman” | heard on of the pack members, a woman who was also close to Ma’am Marie say. I set up straighter, this was it. I was linally going to hear it. I waited, but the only thing I got was the woman, along with the person she was talking about me with, look at me disdainfully as they continued eating.

I pushed my food around some more, waiting for them to finish eating. Immediately I saw them pack up their plates to go to the sink, I followed. It was as though I was being chased with fire on my ass.
I ignored the other stares I was getting, for now, I didn’t mind it, nor one bit.
tii” I said, smiling my brightest. They were startled for a moment, not expecting me to have shown up behind them. “I heard you talking about ma earlier, did she go out of the pack for some business?” I asked in the sweetest voice possible.
The look on ma’s friend turned from one of shock to anger “suddenly you care?” her voice held so much spite that I had to move back a bit from fear and shock.
“Kaden looked all around the pack for you, he fought his betall Just because he was convinced that your nosy friend would have helped you escape“.

I shook my head, not wanting to believe it. Eric Kaden were two peas in a pod. They never fought. People always joked that they were the same person split in two. That was how well they got along.
I looked over to where he was sitting down, but he was gone by then by now.
“when he couldn’t get her, he went for my friend” she wiped the tears that fell from her eyes.
“you should have seen the fight, he is still in the infirmary” the other woman said, looking at me with wide eyes.
I ignored her, not knowing what to
. that and the fact that my whole focus was on ma’s friend.
“but ma, where is she” I pressed. She shook her head no. beads of sweat started to gather on my forehead. I reminded myself over that he could not have done anything overly bad to her. I was starting to not believe it after hearing what he did to Eric.

“he” she dragged back a sob, forcing herself to look strong. “he was on a rampage, I had never seen him like that before, he dragged he half way across the pack by her hair her mouth was trembling as she tried to narrate the story. “he tried to make her to speak on your whereabouts but she desperately denied knowing where you were. We tried to beg him, but he dared us to plead on her behalf again and if would be us in her place” she hit her chest, if trying to ease the pain in her chest
“two days, he kept her locked up for two days, I tried to sneak in water but the guards caught me she shook her head, “shortly after he slit her throat for treason I felt my blood run cold. I could hear much after that, she continued on, blaming herself for going there and triggering Kaden to end her.
On the other hand, I could not feel my body. My ears were ringing loudly, drowning any external sound.

chapter 27–pain
1 felt my breath getting more and more rapid. It couldn’t be, no. Kallen could not be that cruel. I tried in vain to practice all the techniques I had learned for situations like these, but none seemed to be working.
a sharp pain tore through my chest, and spread to my whole body, Lould barely breathe.
My legs gave out as my body felt too heavy for my legs to carry. I wanted out. My vision blurred a bit, my hand snapped backwards, causing a scream to fly out of my mouth. This was it, I was going to die. The pain 1 felt when Kaden rejected me was child’s play compared to what I was going through.
The pain ceased for a bit, causing me to take in as much breath as 1ould. My hands were bent backwards and my eyes were filled with tears. I looked up to the two women who looked at me with shock.
“what’s happening me I cried out as the pain was coming back gradually,
“I… I th… I thi… ink you are shifting the first one said, looking at me with the widest eyes I had ever seen. They both looked in shock, well so was
